Great job! The color combo is excellent.

Nice! Always liked the lines of that car.

Tommy and Joe, Thank you for your comments! Tommy, I used 2K clear from Gravity. I think maybe the ratios could have been a bit off. I've used it before with good results. The clear kind of orange peeled lightly, but more noticeable over the decals and did not level. The decals had over 2 weeks to dry. I was able to carefully polish it out and level it as much as possible. Thanks,

Hello, Adding material to tighten the gaps. Thanks,
-
Thanks for that Joe! I'll keep it in mind when I start mine soon. James, how thick is the hood? Will it help if sanded down a bit thinner? Also, I see your plug wires are coming up. In the real car they go sideways with L shaped boots. These are all baby steps that may help.

The engine in the real Grand Sport is ever so slightly offset to the right. I haven't started on mine yet so I don't know if the kit takes that into account.

Thank you all for your kind comments. This was an enjoyable build. Thanks!

Nice! I built the coupe years ago. It is the best kit I've ever worked with.

Thanks guys! I'll look into those things! This is new territory for me I admit the shape of this car is growing on me.

Hello, OK, here we go. First part I touch and there goes the Box Stock idea. The hood fit is terrible (typical AMT). So after fiddling around with the body and the hood, I added these strips to help the hood sit properly. After all they are in the 1:1 anyways. The fit of the hood is getting better but it still needs a ton of work, especially at the back. Spent hours removing mold lines and flash! It was nasty. These kits are expensive because they have so much extra material Deepened panel lines around trim, doors, trunk etc. First coat of primer reveals some mold lines that still need attention. Dear Lord! The hood fit is so terrible. I can't live with that. I have to address it. Thanks,

Hello, Now that the Ron Fellows C6-R is done, we are back on this project. Embossing powder was used for the interior carpeting. The kit has late model ZR-1 seats but the car I'm replicating has earlier style seats. I replaced them with those from the ASC Spyder. Minor modifications were required to make them fit this tub and I also reworked the seat backs a bit for a more accurate look. Believe it or not, the color I used is the leftover mix I did for the '33 Chrysler Pace car seats, and that was done 10 years ago! I have lost the formula since then but I recall using at least 4 different Testors MM enamels for that. Will start detailing the interior once dry. Thanks,

Love it! I did mine in blue as well.

Thanks guys! I'll check with him. If it has to be factory correct, Trophy blue it is! But searching online I found this one painted in non original sky blue with white top that looks very good. Thanks,

Nice job. I've been considering this kit as it is one of the very few Fords I like.

Hello, My father is kind of a car guy. Not as crazy as I am but still. He has never build a model. He bought them for me when I was a kid and may have helped once or twice but he has never been into it. Years ago, he started collecting diecasts (nobody's perfect). He now has a massive collection of diecasts in different scales. His favorites are of course cars from the 50's and 60's. He has been searching for years for a '51 Chevy. I've searched as well with no luck. Recently, he found one on eBay and bought it... He called me and he was furious! I don't recall the last time I remember him that mad! "I've been screwed! Fraud! Thieves!" etc. It turns out he got a model kit instead of a diecast I asked him if the description said it was a 1/18 diecast. It only said '51 Chevy. I was going to tell him it was his fault but my life could have been be endangered, so I didn't. I also restrained my laugh over the phone. Anyways, I told him not to return it and I would build it for him. I asked him how he wanted it and he said whatever you like as long as it is factory stock. So here I am with this "commissioned" build. I need help with reference material on factory stock color combos. I opened it and typical AMT the fit is bad and it has more flash than a camera store. This will be an interesting project. I'll keep it as close as possible to box stock because I want to finish it soon and present it as a Christmas gift if possible. Any factory stock color combo reference will be appreciated. I'm always partial to blues but not necessarily. Thanks,

Hello, This build is FINISHED! It has been posted in the Under Glass section. Thanks for accompanying me in this journey! Thanks,

Hello, This one is done! Thank you for accompanying me on this journey. I have to say it was a fun build. Ron Fellows is one of the most important drivers and primary responsible for bringing the current Corvette Racing program up and running. Also one of my all time favorite race car drivers as well. By 2007 he was retiring from active racing driving, but to remain very active as a team's consultant for years to come. To celebrate his accomplishments, GM offered a Ron Fellows Special Edition Z06 Corvette, each one personally signed by him. In the 2007 Sebring 12 hour race, the #3 car (Chassis C6R-005) he was co-driving with Johnny O'Connell and Jan Magnussen was painted white with maple leaf red hash marks, like his special edition. But Canadian Ron Fellows was also known as the "Mayor of Mosport" as the Ontario venue was his home track. So for the 2007 IMSA Grand Prix of Mosport, held on August 26, they surprised everybody by entering a third C6R (Chassis C6R-003) in the Ron Fellows special edition white color scheme. Andy Pilgrim was his co-driver for that race. Since both main cars were in the race as #3 and #4, this car raced as #33. The car came in 3rd place behind the other 2 Corvettes completing 116 laps. The race was only 2 hours and 45 minutes and the weather was good. So at the end the car was not as dirty as after a long endurance race like Sebring, Daytona or LeMans. That's why I did not weather it. This car, chassis # C6R-003, was eventually sold to an european private team (Luc Alphand) in 2008. Unfortunately, it was destroyed in a massive transporter fire in 2009. Hope you like it! Started with Revell C6R. Speedline decals. Too many mods to list. I think only the windshield, back glass, headlight covers and tail lights are the only non modified kit's parts in this build. If I concentrate I can hear it idling... Roof mounted TV camera, antennas and transponder details. Mandatory front tow hook As expected, the interior can barely be seen. Mandated rear tow hook Hey! Look who came to play! My first C6-R (fully detailed) built over 10 years ago! The wiper is in raised position in the yellow one. That's why it looks weird from this angle Here is the link to the yellow car. I had a great time with this build but it is not perfect. The clear did not perform as I expected (maybe user error?). It reacted with the decals. I was able to polish it out to acceptable levels but if you get really close and under the right light you will notice it. Let me know what you think! Thanks,
