Hello, Spent considerable time scratchbuilding an acetate door glass to the correct shape, the openings, painting the black border trim inside etc. After gluing it in place my single brain cell triggered an alarm: "You fool! You should have use it as a template for the other side!" So I started all over again for the other side... DUH!!! HA!! Thanks,

Hello, Progressing nicely. Tons of little things still pending but definitely approaching the home stretch. Thanks! Ismael

Hello, Body has been polished. White is really hard to photograph so I took this quick video. I was able to polish away most of the issues. And I'll hide those remaining Thanks,

Mark, I followed this from early on. Than you very much for sharing this wonderful journey with us! As usual you are an inspiration to us all. Thanks,

Just got a note from Gregg. Glad to know he is ok after the hurricane.

Glad to see it finished! Very clean.

WOW! That 's a GREAT looking '70! My favorite of them all!

Nice job! Looks like a fun car to throw around on a racetrack.

Nice! I remember one with a big block at the dragstrip decades ago.

A beauty indeed. Love it!

I tried that but did not help. Polishing seems to be working. Just that it is extremely slow and nerve racking.

Hi Mark, I've been following this awesome build for a long time. Almost there! What do you source the mylar from? I've been looking for some (for mirror faces) but I can't seem to find the right one. Thanks,
-
Nice! I like the color.

Hello, The decals had over 2 weeks to dry. Finally clear coated with Gravity 2K. I was hoping for a glass smooth finish but it turned out a bit rougher than I expected. It seems the decals reacted somehow with the clear. Maybe the decal surface had some residue or something the clear did not like. Whatever the case, after 24 hours, I tested polishing the hood. It definitely improved but sanding and polishing clear over a decal is nerve racking! I stopped before it was 100% perfect but I'd rather restrain pushing good luck than going over the edge and destroy it. I think I got away with it but still have to polish the rest of the car. Thanks,

NO NO NO! Ferrari and Ford don't mix! Don't you remember Ford was going to buy Ferrari and Enzo backed down at the last moment? Seriously: Looking good!

We are doing ok. Lots of mis-information floating around. Yes the grid was facing many challenges before but personally I don't think it was as bad as they want to make it look. Politicians are worst than hurricanes.... Please thank your neighbor for me. Tell him to contact me if he ever comes back. I would like to personally thank him! Back to the topic of Hawaii, it seems they did not get major wind damage but the heavy rain was apocalyptic. Up to 52 inches of rain at a mountain station. That is catastrophic in terms of flooding. Has anyone heard from Gregg? I sent him a note over messenger but no response so far. Thanks,

Hello, This is NOT a "what airbrush should I buy" thread. That is a never ending question. I'm just curious about which one YOU use and why. Here is my story: Over 25 years ago (1993 to be exact) a graphics artist from the art department in my university, modeler and my mentor in the hobby, Carlos, showed me what an airbrush was and the basics of how to use it. That was with a Badger 150. He let me use it and even loaned it to me for a few days to take home. I was up until 3AM painting everything I could! I vividly remember my very first airbrushed part: vertical fins of an F18 in 1/48 scale. Needless to say I was hooked for life! So I wanted to get one. Somebody told me to check on Harbor Freight because they had a cheap "asian knockoff of the Badger 150". So I thought I could start with that. It was a $19.95 Central Pneumatics 1500 airbrush. So I mail ordered one. Well, guess what: 25 years later that is STILL my one and only airbrush EVER! Part of that is because since day one I have an almost religious ritual of completely disassembling it for deep clean up and leave it like brand new before putting it back together, not only after each use but sometimes in between coats! Hey, I've never claimed to be normal! There are no parts available and they are not interchangeable with any other. I have occasionally searched eBay and the web to see if I can get another one but no luck. A friend of mine ordered one around the same time I got mine. A few years ago he gave it to me as he did not really use it. It is a bit corroded and beaten up. Most likely not stored or cared for properly but could be used for spares in case of emergency. I will most likely buy a Badger 150 when the need comes, but as long as this one keeps on going, it will remain my best airbrush ever. So, What is you airbrush story? Thanks,

Hello, Body decals are finally done! Had to print my own rear bumper Jake decal as it was missing in the sheet. The bigger decals worked fine. However some of the smaller decals are putting up a fight even with decal set. Will let it fully dry before sealing with clear. Thanks,

Hello, As I'm typing this, Hawaii is been affected by a hurricane. Needless to say, I know what that is first hand. Eleven months after our wild rodeo we are still struggling to recover. My prayers and best wishes for Hawaii, especially to our own, Gregg. I truly hope it doesn't get bad. Thanks,

Hello, Color sanded the body and applied a final wet coat, diluted 3:1. The picture looks very similar to the previous one, but it is much smoother and "bluer". The color is really hard to photograph. Once completed I'll take the official pictures with proper equipment and light. Next step: Clear. Thanks,
-
Thanks! I'll check on that.

Thanks Justin! I'm looking for a set of Lotus Esprit 300 wheels. If I can't find them, my plan B is a set of Fujimi TW42. The kit's wheels are correct for the first prototype only. Thanks,

Hello, Driver's side decals done. Yes it is going very slow. I know. Don't push me! I just started this only a decade ago! Thanks,

Hello, WOW! Three years for an update! Sorry for that Finally got to sand the primer smooth and shot the first 2 coats of Scalefinishes Carlisle blue: a 2012 only color. Very strong metallic content. It looks more silver in the picture but it is really a bit "bluer". After it dries I'll lightly color sand it before a final wet coat. The primer had 3 years to dry. I hope the paint dries quicker than that Thanks,

Looking good! I'll follow this. I am considering this kit.
