Love it! I did mine in blue as well.
  2. Thanks guys! I'll check with him. If it has to be factory correct, Trophy blue it is! But searching online I found this one painted in non original sky blue with white top that looks very good. Thanks,
  3. Nice job. I've been considering this kit as it is one of the very few Fords I like.
  4. Hello, My father is kind of a car guy. Not as crazy as I am but still. He has never build a model. He bought them for me when I was a kid and may have helped once or twice but he has never been into it. Years ago, he started collecting diecasts (nobody's perfect). He now has a massive collection of diecasts in different scales. His favorites are of course cars from the 50's and 60's. He has been searching for years for a '51 Chevy. I've searched as well with no luck. Recently, he found one on eBay and bought it... He called me and he was furious! I don't recall the last time I remember him that mad! "I've been screwed! Fraud! Thieves!" etc. It turns out he got a model kit instead of a diecast I asked him if the description said it was a 1/18 diecast. It only said '51 Chevy. I was going to tell him it was his fault but my life could have been be endangered, so I didn't. I also restrained my laugh over the phone. Anyways, I told him not to return it and I would build it for him. I asked him how he wanted it and he said whatever you like as long as it is factory stock. So here I am with this "commissioned" build. I need help with reference material on factory stock color combos. I opened it and typical AMT the fit is bad and it has more flash than a camera store. This will be an interesting project. I'll keep it as close as possible to box stock because I want to finish it soon and present it as a Christmas gift if possible. Any factory stock color combo reference will be appreciated. I'm always partial to blues but not necessarily. Thanks,
  5. Thanks guys! Nacho, here is the link to the progress thread. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/topic/133111-ron-fellows-mosport-white-c6r/ Thanks!

  7. And here is the link to the full race Thanks,
  8. I think I remember those. Love them all especially the Cunningham.
  9. I like them both!
  10. Nice ride!
  11. That is history in 3D! Please preserve it as it is. And it looks great by the way!
  12. Beautiful! Love it!
  13. Hello, This build is FINISHED! It has been posted in the Under Glass section. Thanks for accompanying me in this journey! Thanks,
  14. Hello, This one is done! Thank you for accompanying me on this journey. I have to say it was a fun build. Ron Fellows is one of the most important drivers and primary responsible for bringing the current Corvette Racing program up and running. Also one of my all time favorite race car drivers as well. By 2007 he was retiring from active racing driving, but to remain very active as a team's consultant for years to come. To celebrate his accomplishments, GM offered a Ron Fellows Special Edition Z06 Corvette, each one personally signed by him. In the 2007 Sebring 12 hour race, the #3 car (Chassis C6R-005) he was co-driving with Johnny O'Connell and Jan Magnussen was painted white with maple leaf red hash marks, like his special edition. But Canadian Ron Fellows was also known as the "Mayor of Mosport" as the Ontario venue was his home track. So for the 2007 IMSA Grand Prix of Mosport, held on August 26, they surprised everybody by entering a third C6R (Chassis C6R-003) in the Ron Fellows special edition white color scheme. Andy Pilgrim was his co-driver for that race. Since both main cars were in the race as #3 and #4, this car raced as #33. The car came in 3rd place behind the other 2 Corvettes completing 116 laps. The race was only 2 hours and 45 minutes and the weather was good. So at the end the car was not as dirty as after a long endurance race like Sebring, Daytona or LeMans. That's why I did not weather it. This car, chassis # C6R-003, was eventually sold to an european private team (Luc Alphand) in 2008. Unfortunately, it was destroyed in a massive transporter fire in 2009. Hope you like it! Started with Revell C6R. Speedline decals. Too many mods to list. I think only the windshield, back glass, headlight covers and tail lights are the only non modified kit's parts in this build. If I concentrate I can hear it idling... Roof mounted TV camera, antennas and transponder details. Mandatory front tow hook As expected, the interior can barely be seen. Mandated rear tow hook Hey! Look who came to play! My first C6-R (fully detailed) built over 10 years ago! The wiper is in raised position in the yellow one. That's why it looks weird from this angle Here is the link to the yellow car. I had a great time with this build but it is not perfect. The clear did not perform as I expected (maybe user error?). It reacted with the decals. I was able to polish it out to acceptable levels but if you get really close and under the right light you will notice it. Let me know what you think! Thanks,

    LaFerrari

    That looks great! Love it!
  16. Danny, Short answer: NO. If that claims to be a C6-R, it is so wrong at so many levels. Hood and rear deck lid are not hinged. They are removable. Fenders and quarter panels are also removable. Spoiler does not attach to the lid. It goes straight into the chassis. There is a firewall behind the driver. There is a crash box between driver and door. Is that an antenna or a roof mounted shifter? Check my Fotki albums from 2006 and 2007 at Petit LeMans for pictures of the C6R. http://public.fotki.com/tatocorvette/petit-lemans-2006/ http://public.fotki.com/tatocorvette/petit-lemans-2007/ Thanks,
  17. Hi Alex, Curiously, I was away almost a decade as well and recently started again. But in my case I was just too busy with family, work and life in general. Sad to hear about the accident but glad to see you are back. Something I learned years ago is that I build for myself and if others like it, even better. So enjoy it for what it is! Now, be careful with that Xacto knife especially around your right hand. You won't feel it if you get cut and the blood can ruin a nice paint job Cheers and I hope to see more from you! Thanks,
  18. ALEX! Welcome back! Great way to get back on the saddle!
  19. Hello, Roof TV camera, antennas and transponder can only mean one thing: Last progress update! ENTERING THE HOME STRETCH! Checker Flag in sight! Hopefully the next update will be COMPLETION! Thanks,
  20. Looking good! Love it!
  21. Hello, Spent considerable time scratchbuilding an acetate door glass to the correct shape, the openings, painting the black border trim inside etc. After gluing it in place my single brain cell triggered an alarm: "You fool! You should have use it as a template for the other side!" So I started all over again for the other side... DUH!!! HA!! Thanks,
  22. Hello, Progressing nicely. Tons of little things still pending but definitely approaching the home stretch. Thanks! Ismael
  23. Hello, Body has been polished. White is really hard to photograph so I took this quick video. I was able to polish away most of the issues. And I'll hide those remaining Thanks,
  24. Mark, I followed this from early on. Than you very much for sharing this wonderful journey with us! As usual you are an inspiration to us all. Thanks,
  25. Just got a note from Gregg. Glad to know he is ok after the hurricane.
