  1. My most recent outrageous purchase, was ordering the Porsche 959 Paris Dakar transkit, from Russia. Next more outrageous will be ordering the Audi S1 Quattro rally car, from Europe. I'm in full blown model acquisition mode now.
  2. Seeing that you have posted here over 9,100 times, appreciate you, and everyone else's compliments! I have started a diorama for this car, based on going to the Canyon last day of 2017, took lots of reference photos of the exact spot. Stay tuned.....
  3. WIP from the beginning starting December 27, 2017, 70 hours total:
  4. Final assembly WIP:
  5. First model finished in 2018, but before I weather it. This was a Fujimi MINI ONE RS-42 kit, 1:24 scale, think it was never marketed in the USA because it's right hand drive (RHD). I wonder if Fujimi produced a left hand drive kit, because the body had indents for the wipers to be either side.I shortened it 8" (full scale), tilted back the windshield, used a Porsche 911 windshield for the back, which determined how much it was chopped. I intended the roof to slope down like the Land Rover Evoque (MINI Countryman is similar), it needed sectioning at the rear, shortened 16", and I sloped the leading and trailing profile more. Changed the dash from RHD to LHD. Scratch-built the wing, gas filler is a copy that I made long ago from the Tamiya Isuzu VehiCross. Added big driving lights in the front bumper. Arizona MVD website used to make the license plate. Lowered the stance a little. Stickers cut for the US sidelights. Interior tub was shortened, VW Golf rear was spliced in after removing the seat, seats airbrushed using a fine screen mask for fabric texture, added seatbelts. Rear parcel shelf is a piece of Christmas junk food packaging, painted flat black. Used thick paper for the headliner and pillar covers. Nail "polish" paint, pearl purple, and pearl with purple iridescence white. Used pictures of my 2003 MINI for reference. It was more of a PITA than usual (had to paint roof 3 times), I don't consider it contest winning quality, but would still enter it in a If I Had Designed It category.
  6. Ok..... I already had that kit, and was thinking of building a replica of my dad's Beetle, but someone has to take second and/or third.
  7. I have the newer green kit, and the Italeri (yuk) kit. Watching.....
  8. That's funny, on another thread, said I built the 1965 Grand Prix last century, and here you just finished one. Love the garage setting.

    My 2017 Output

First resin kit, could have fooled me! All nice.
  10. Quality vs. quantity. That is sweet! I built the 1965 Grand Prix last century, so appreciate the chrome work.
  11. I went for three years of doing absolutely nothing, and now I'm in full-auto obsession mode. I don't know about everyone else, but I'm either on, or off. I built three 1/72 scale Luft 46 jets while letting the paint cure on the Roadster, does that count?
  12. Porsche 959, Tamiya. Started December 2001. Monster Miata 5.0L, Tamiya/other. Started March 2001. Honda Civic "SiTEGRA", Tamiya/other. Started 2002. Ford Victoria, AMT. Started and finished within two weeks. Mercedes 170V Roadster, Heller. Started and finished within two months.
  13. Nice job on a great kit! I have a GTS in my stash. Why not have the engine outside? Like the wiring too. I saw the Scottsdale dealer has one, asking over $400,000!
  14. My mom received the model Christmas Eve. She found another photo of them sitting in the car. I told her that I wanted to go to the Grand Canyon to research the spot to do a diorama, so not really finished after all.
  15. That's AWESOME!
  16. Very nice job! One of my favorite poster cars. What is with so many Porsche 911 kits having broken a-pillars?
  17. Very nice! When I saw your screen name, I had to look (since I'm in the obsessive mode at the moment). I built the Cabriolet 356 last century, painted Ivory too, sold it. Very nice kits.
  18. Wow, you do have a variety. I have the Mercedes 772 SLR, and Pagani too, nice to someone finished them!
  19. Can tell that was made with love, great memorial build! Good to know where you have pictures hosted. I have a R&D Unique kit of the Chaparral 2J, someday in the far future.....
  20. I couldn't wait, since my dad bought a 1977 CVCC. Sure looks like a nice kit, even without an engine.

    1937 Cord

Too bad photos from older posts disappear! I just picked up a book at a Prescott bookstore, local author section: The Tom Mix Cord by Bob M. White. He used to hang out in my town back then, and died on a highway in Arizona. This would be a cool subject to build, needs some scratch-building unique parts. So of course was wondering what the best kit would be.
  22. I'm guilty. I'm in full-auto obsession mode now. I just received a kit that I wanted last century. Found some pages from a mail order catalog in a file, saw something I wanted way back then, and found it is difficult to find. What I did get cost a fortune, but I have it, and I might just build it to piss off the rabid collectors. When was the last time you saw a decent Mercedes C111 at a contest?
  23. I know right? I have that problem too, specifically with FabbricaP's Ferrari 250 GTO (I have only 4 different unbuilt kits of that car).
  24. Awesome! My dad's father bought a new '57 Handyman wagon, just before I got old enough to drive, he traded it in for a '72 "Chevy" LUV (POS). That's why I got a '57 4 door wagon, which had the Stovebolt with the Powerglide. I repainted it the more green turquoise. Sorry, this model triggered me, in a good way. Thank you. Picture of his car brand new in the driveway.
