The unraveling of society...... I wanted to camp at the historic Bass Camp on the South Rim of Grand Canyon. But check this out, the Havasu Tribe still has the road closed because of Covid. The red dashed line is a Forest Service road that is closed to motorized vehicles, so I'm taking the mountain bike, before that's banned too. What a handy excuse to keep people out. When my dad roamed the wilderness, he could drive literally anywhere.

Union Pacific Big Boy 4014 steamed through my town today...

My dad worked on a Sante Fe locomotive for awhile. Thanks for posting this, always amazing to see that. -
I'm working as Stage Captain on the Prescott Rally. Even though I haven't been on the bench for over a year, I thought the stash in the background qualifies as being pleased today. I look so serious, because I was looking at the screen to take the picture, look like a snob. ?

I should be doing this, instead of camping. -
I love PATINA! Rust stain just right on the white door. Some kits beg for this sort of treatment. ?

We in Aridzona do rain dances to bring it on! Don't tell anyone, but I was totally a poser with the bike this time. It's primarily a back-up, but there will be places where it will be great for scouting a better campsite.

I'm killing two days with one post. What pleased me, very much, was finding a bloody awesome campsite! Nobody out there, so quiet you could hear the airliners flying over. It's literally at the end of a Forest Service road, and only an hour from home. Think I should add red/white reflective tape to the matching patina can. I was here earlier in the day, left that track. ? It was the first real test of the tarp setup, rained after 1:30 AM, mostly successful, but just like a model.... Breakfast of chompions. Throwing this in as an extra. Another end of the road, which was really about a half mile back.

Thank you. I've been taking a bunch of pictures, hoping some will be nice enough. Thought this would be good for my banner pic on Fakebook.

Thanks for the comments everyone. I have it hanging in the living room now, not going to fix it because knowing me I'll break it. I also use LED lights, but what if there is a CME? I think anything about camping, and memories triggered by whatever appliance Coleman made is open season. Since I'm dictator of my Topic, PV chargers should be a tangent worth discussing. I got this, because I don't want to fix the cigarette lighter in the pickup. And just in case. Had to repair the grommets already, using superglue.

That explains the weird behavior of the deli worker the other day..... and I'm really trying to stay with my Ignorance Is Bliss experiment which is so corrupted now. Fry's sells it, I never had a problem. But now I wonder if the Chinese own it, like they do other brands you thought were American owned. -
I've been self-employed most of my career, and am just about self-retired. Pity the fool who wants to build anything, and have a building department full of people who never drove a nail home, with a hammer, not a nailgun. Some people luck out and still consider their work a fun thing to do. I'm obsessed/possessed with a full scale model, been building a camping kit for Blue Cloud. Pleased with my latest, gotta go do another shakedown run.

I relented and ordered some via eBay, for the modern propane lantern. I'll save this restoration for next century. By all means, if there isn't one, this can be the official Coleman camping gear thread.
