  1. I too have been looking for photos of the horizontal Cummins, I do know they share all internal components. The block is different but only slightly, it has a mount boss cast in on what would be the side of the vertical engine. I haven’t been able to a picture of the oil pan yet, that’s what has stopped me from my Freightliner build!
  2. Funny I just thought of a perfect build for the kit , a what if Richard Petty 70 Daytona ( if Chrysler had changed their mind and let Richard have the Dodge instead of building the Bird for him)! Nevertheless nice build on the Issac car!
  3. Other than the box art , the two MPC Daytona kits are the same ! It’s funny that MPC tooled the body with the R/T door scoops , although it has been speculated that a 70 Daytona was to be built . Some even speculate that it was to be an R/T as well . Have that kit and have yet to figure out what way to build it !
  4. For anyone doing a NASCAR version of the Daytona or any other Mopar , the Revell GTX has a good 8 3/4 diff!
  5. I could see building that hauler, easy conversion of a Great Dane trailer , RoG Peterbilt and the two Salvino JR kits for the cars !
  6. I wouldn’t be too surprised to eventually see the T500 version of the Peterbilt, they retooled the sleeper for the W925 kit and if they get enough requests for the sleeper they might retool it plus it give them another option on the old tool..
  7. Yes that’s true , although I do think that they will go with the T522 version, especially since they have been running the Unilite cab reissue as of late and they like the the old style box art!
  8. I will be be willing to bet that the wrecker will be a reissue if the original T522 Unilite cab version, since it has never been reissued! Which is fine by me , have several of the 1100 cab issues, although it would be nice to see them clean up the moulds on that kit and put it out as well!
  9. Looks great ! I am starting this build as well, but doing a lot of modifications to make it prototypically correct, suspension change ( torsion bar) interior ( bicentennial red white and blue pleats and panels) Trukmate 5 hole wheels .
  10. I have been wanting to do a model of my 77 Power Wagon Shortbox Sweptside so this is good news! If Round2 decides to back date the kit all that’s required is the dash and the grille, no changes to the body ( turn signals are still in the valance despite the 77-78 grille)! As far as 4x4 parts they need not bother unless they tool up new . They were all prototypically wrong for that truck , Dodge used a New Process transfer case bolted on the back of a modified transmission on both automatic or standard transmissions!
  11. Your conversion work is spot on ! The only thing that needs attention is switching the White Freightliner emblem , the cab conversion you have done puts it well past White truck’s involvement with Freightliner, although you could say that the owner of the truck backdated his emblems! Absolutely no criticism of your work, I am austruck with this build!
  12. I have always liked the elegant look that whitewalls bring to rigs , when you look back at all of the early Tyrone Malone trucks they sure looked classy! Nice build on your Peterbilt sir!
  13. I think it should be pointed out that all of the AMT, MPC tooled Mack kits( ERTL kits are old MPC tooling) are getting up in age . Actually almost all truck kits are up there so one should expect a fair amount of cleanup in the building process but by and large excellent looking models are easily attained! Such as this Mack / tanker combo , great looking build!!
  14. Absolutely fabulous! I have always been fascinated by the trucks from Australia, quite some time ago I started a double b- double train and have been at it for a while! I started with the AMT Kenworth K123 kit and 4 AMT Fruehauf Tanker kits. It’s a fictional build but I hope to finish this winter. My favourite Australian truck is the SAR Kenworth, what suspension did you use on the drives ? If you have a chance can you PM me , have several questions you might have answers to! Thanks Rick
  15. You are right Mike , not only does clearing over the decals make the lines go away, It definitely will seal them and yes you can add a flattening agent to many clear coats to dull down the gloss . Also you can use some of the more inexpensive clear coats that are not as high in the shine department!
  16. There are a lot of great ideas on this thread, I think that if there was enough interest shown by modellers to Round 2 they might consider it, existing tooling for the truck chassis could be used so an all new tool would only be needed for body and this thing could be reissued numerous times in different liveries!
  17. Rather than waste money on a pair of resin fenders , all that’s required is some plastic added to the bottom of the fenders ,shaped to the contour of the kit fenders and done! Definitely the only short coming of the kit!
  18. Definitely a Ford , can’t say for sure the year , but to model it start with a ‘40 Ford Pickup cab.
  19. I was always of the opinion to not clear over decals on stock car models but a couple of years ago I decaled a body and had a mishap with the chassis and put the build on hold , went to finish it recently after getting another kit for the irreparable parts to find the decals had issues with yellowing, and those that did clear over on another build ( both had decals from the same sheet( contingency markings) were perfect! After that I am clearing over everything even my stock cars ! I used to to only do my funny car builds. But it’s a personal choice and one must make sure the clear won’t eat the decals you are using . I usually put a thin coat of Testors gloss coat first and then I’ll use my regular automotive clear , I be had good results from every brand I have used ! I paint cars so it all depends on what I have on hand at any given time!
  20. My all time favourite driver Richard Petty said of David Pearson he’s the best driver that ever raced in NASCAR and there’s no way to disagree! RIP David!
  21. Thanks for posting the picture Casey , it’s great to see it stripped down!
  22. This is a topic that could go on forever, in my opinion Round2 is doing alright, they are mixing in the reissues with all new tooling. The thing is that the all new tools they are developing at this point are SciFi, which obviously is what is selling well for them ! They are releasing a series of kits for the auto diorama builders so it’s not all in one pot, and I must say that they are trying. Most importantly they are putting out a lot of long gone kits that are otherwise very pricey on the internet sites and are remaining viable! The market for plastic models continues to shrink so I am content to see what they are releasing next ! Would I love to see new car and truck tools , you bet but I am realistic to know that they will be few and far between . Probably will see a few of the few new muscle cars, writing or emailing does work they do listen EG : AMT Kenworth W925 back .... that’s my two bits!
  23. Now that gives one food for thought! Love the build and hate this forum, I have way too many projects started and I keep getting more ideas! Great model!
  24. I have never bothered with this kit but see it done I think I will have to pick up a couple of them . Nice build !
