There are some files that I have uploaded to my Cults 3d page. I have included them there for free. I added a Kenworth Grill for the new Challenge mixer, Brown Logos, truck stirrup steps, the front wheels for the AMT ALF Fire Truck, a Casale V-Drive, Early Bronco Hub Caps and I will be adding more. I did upload the 1960's Chevy 8 foot truck bed, but there is a small fee for it. Any interest in these Super Single wheels and tires? I have printed a set for one of my projects and they came out really nice.

Yes, I printed the first prototype a few weeks back. It looked good, but had some issues. I have gone back and revised it to fix those issues and I plan for a second print this weekend when I get home. The first draft had an open design with the grill inserts, headlights, turnsignals all as separate parts. If I was a master 3D printer, this might have worked. However what works i 3D space in Fusion 360 does not always turn into a good idea in the print bed. I am making it all one part except for the headlight lenses. My hope is that it will print better and hold its shape better. I hope to post up some pictures early next week.

I have a real soft spot for these trucks, very nice. I like the colors and the wheels.

1978 CJ-7
Oldmopars replied to Saltie Olds's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
These are a great kit. I did mine up as the Daisy Duke Jeep, as the Daisy Duke Kit from AMT is the wrong jeep. She had a CJ-7, not the kits CJ-5. BTW, the Jurassic Park and MacGyver Jeeps are both YJs. While similar, the later YJ had square headlights, padded dash, 4.0l FI engine, and a whole bunch of other differences. Your build is looking good, keep it up. -
I too had an issue with those, so I made my own out of cooking tin aluminum. (Dollar store cooking pans) I laid out 2 pieces of wire, taped them to the cutting board. I then worked the aluminum over it to get the ribs. Then I wrapped it around a 1in diameter wooden dowel. Tops and bottom are just sheet styrene. Once done, I can smash, dent, crush, etc. to achieve what ever look I want from them.

Atlantis (Revell) 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air build up vid
Oldmopars replied to Daddyfink's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Thanks, we seem to like to call out "Bad" kits a lot here, but seldom specify why the kits are bad. It is nice to know why they are bad and what redeeming qualities they have. I like to build a lot of "Working" cars/trucks, USPS, Phone Company, Contractor trucks, etc. I also like to build weathered beat up cars/trucks. So, for many of these types of builds, some issues can be overlooked or may even be completely removed. Like bad trim or inaccurate molding are often a non-issue for me as I plan to remove them anyway. When I think of a "Bad" kit, the AMT 77 Pinto is close to the top of the list. However, I was still able to build something cool out of it. From the video and what has been said here, the Atlantis 57 does not seem to be all that bad. One more question, with all of the other 57 Chevy kits out there, do any of the other kits front bumper fit the Atlantis/Revell 57? If so a junk glue bomb may donate to fix the biggest issue. -

So, I am not questioning that this kit is not great, but can someone please explain what it is that makes it so bad? I have never had one, and while no a big tri-5 fan anyway, I am curious out this kit. What specifically are its negatives? Along with that, are there any positives? Many times we hear that a kit is bad, but we don't hear why its so bad. It may be possible that some of those things are not important to the build I want to do, or maybe they are really important to the build I want to do. Thanks -
To make things simple, everything is drawn in 1:1 and then scaled down in the slicer. So, a wheel set could be made and sold in any scale you like. The issue would be that the kit tires may not fit perfectly as these would be scaled from a 1:1, not scaled to the kit tires. Who knows how close the kit tires are to the real thing?

Hilborn Injection for SOHC Ford

Yes, the plan is to create an accurate 427 SOHC and it will be for sale through Texas 3D Customs. And yes, complete engine. -
I need info on the AMT/R2 Dodge Van kits.
Oldmopars replied to Oldmopars's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Any chance you would be willing to trade one of your old style Dodge van bodies with a grill? PM me and we can work something out. With the new Dodge van kits, even a bad body would be fine as long as the front is still good. -
I am terribly sorry to hear of the loss of your wife. I know this must be a very difficult time. If you don't mind me asking, what kit was this? I love what you did, it looks incredible.

To clear a few things up. That is a 1968 Beetle, IRS was only used on the Auto-Stick Beetles in 68, 1969 all Beetles (USA) got the IRS. So, some camber in the rear would be normal. The factory sunroof on these cars would have been a steel roof, however the sliding cloth roofs were very popular and were offered by the aftermarket well into the 90's and even can be had today. That and many would cut the top off an older Bug and weld it on a newer one. So, a 68 with that type sunroof is completely OK for anything other than a showroom stock build. Yes, the bumpers are correct for a German Bug, wrong for a US Bug, but, again you could swap them on a custom build. The fenders are also wrong, they are more correct for a 1967 Bug in the US. For 1968 the small grills in each fender were gone and the bumper brackets were larger. However, again these could be swapped out on a custom Bug. Having owned 36 Aircooled VW's and being a mechanic on them for many years I can tell you I have seen many things swapped around from year to year. With this kit as long as you are not going for a factory stock USA version, it is perfectly OK and just call it a custom. Old Bugs are like Legos, parts swap from year to year and for the most pat, just bolt right on. With all that cleared up, this build is looking great. I like what you are doing. Seeing as these cars were used in the Baja races, some NYC streets should not kill it. They were pretty tough little cars.

Lifted Pickup Parts
Oldmopars replied to olschoolkid's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
OK, you are looking at full custom, I do not know of anyone that is going to have what you want, at least not all of it. There was a site that I can't seem to recall the name of that sold resin parts for Pull Trucks, like tractor pull etc. He may have the axles. The wheels are going to be Etsy or Ebay unless you are looking for something truly custom or specific. Then I may be able to help. I think this could be a great project, I enjoy stuff like this. -

Lifted Pickup Parts
Oldmopars replied to olschoolkid's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
If you have a way to get them printed, I can send you a file for some leaf springs that I designed for a Chevy truck. 2 sided details, at about 8in lift. Are you going to buy the Etsy wheels, or are you looking for something else? For a small fee, I can design something exactly like you want and send you the file. Again, you would need to find someone to 3D print it for you. -
I need info on the AMT/R2 Dodge Van kits.
Oldmopars replied to Oldmopars's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Wonderful, thank you all. I think I could make 2 sizes then one for the Chevy/Dodge and a short one for the Ford. Maybe a couple of different styles of each. What would you all want to see? -
Just opened my 1:16 scale AMT 1957 Tbird
Oldmopars replied to JerseeJerry55's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I will second that. It is a simple, fairly easy kit. It is just like a 1/25 scale kit, just bigger. Parts count is about the same. I made mine for my wife, so it is pink. Turned out good. -
Creating a unfinished looking weld
Oldmopars replied to cobraman's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Small half round or round stock. Use solvent type glue. Then go back with a small brass tube and carefully make the rounded marks that make it look like a weld. Use solvent glue to soften it, then at an angle press the tube lightly against it, repeat 500 times. For solvent glue, I use MEK, but LHS bottled stuff works good too. -
Any source for fine black tubing?
Oldmopars replied to Mike C.'s topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Go to Hobby Lobby, look for beading hose/tube. Perfect for models, flexible, black, cheap. Also browse the other isles, I'm sure you will find tons of wire, and other stuff that will give you a ton of detail options. -
Need convertible top/tarp help
Oldmopars replied to Brandon Miller's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
The tarp on this truck was done with white glue diluted with water and a facial tissue. As others has said, soak your material in the glue/water and formvit to fit. Let dry. To achieve a used real effect, paint with craft paint while still wet. It gives it a lot of definition. -
I have been asked to design High Tops that will fit the 3 Van kits currently out. I have a Ford and a Chevy kit and I was able to measure the roof on those, but I do not have a Dodge Van yet. Can someone measure and maybe post a picture, of the roof. I need just above the drip rail side to side, back, middle and front. I also need total length from the back to the front at the middle of the windshield above the gasket and at the sides same place. I will be getting a Dodge van kit, but I don't have one yet. This will help me figure out if it is a reasonable idea to do or not. I already know the Ford is SWB and the Chevy is long. This means at least 2 High Tops. Ambulance variations are also possible. If a picture of the roof, from straight up could be posted, that would help a lt.
