The Stool Bus is moving forward, I got more work done on the tank and the plumbing. I added hinges and wing nuts to the top hatch, added steps to the side, I added bolts to the rear clean out port behind the valve and added a wire conduit up to the new light bar. I removed and cut down the light bar as it was too big. I also worked on the pump and box that mounts it to the side of the frame, then added tubes to connect it to the tank. It is getting there and looking more like the rear thing.

I have been moving very slowly on this project, as other are doing, I have several projects going at once. To add to the issue, I am currently living in an RV, 30 foot travel trailer waiting for my house to be finished. So, at this time I have no where to paint and I have to pack up all my stuff every time I work and put in the outside storage box. However, light at the end of the tunnel, the house should be done in the next few weeks. So, I got the new holes drilled for the mud flaps after extending the frame and cleaned up the flaps. Had to fill in the pin holes and extractor marks. Then I added some structure under the hood, also worked on filling the gaps at the bottom by the fenders. I hope to move forward more this next month, but hey, an update is an update.

MB New Actros Lowliner
Oldmopars replied to Hermann Kersten's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
I am personally loving this build. While I am in the USA, I spent a short time in the UK and I love the Euro Trucks, I have built a few. Keep it coming and give all the details you can, I for one will enjoy it all. You do great work. -

Where? His site is all about Peterbilts, not White Freightliners -
Yee Haw, mine is an older build, going to do another soon, but for now.

Please show us how you lowered the head lights, I need to do this to mine. I know I can figure it out on my own, but if someone has already done it and willing to share the details, I would be happy to follow your example. -
That looks great. If you can't afford the real thing (few of us can) make a replica. I love the time and effort you can see went into this build, very well done.

I love this, great build. The weathering looks fantastic and the subject matter is awesome. My favorite car is the 59 Caddy Hearse. My only comment would be, that with it being a "junker", the front windshield is too clean and perfect. Maybe add a crack of some "Dirt" overspray. Otherwise perfect build.

BTW, According to the story line of the show, the orange paint was a mix of stuff Cooter had in the back of his shop. Who knows what the real color is, but I know Hugger Orange is and Hemi Orange will both work. Even at "Dukes" events, the cars are all slightly different shades of Orange.

I love what you are doing, and your build is looking great. I can relate to this, I went through the same thing wanting to build an accurate General Lee for my wife who is a big fan of the show. I got the General kit and found it to be very bad, so I got the Revell kit. However this was several years back and Slixx and Fireball were not around, so I had to make due with what came in the 2 kits. I was and still am proud of mine, but I think it may be time soon to do a little updating. The last 10-12 years has not done it any favors.

According to the boxes, they are the same scale, but they don't seem that way from the parts swapped on the nose. You should have fun with this.

If it weren't for the fact that I work from home, I would never get anything done on my models. But as it is, in the afternoons things slow down and I can work on my models for about 3-4 hours a day in between phone calls. I can even be working on stuff while I talk to customers, I just can't get up and go spray a body or anything, I have to stay at my desk/model table.

Even though I am no low rider fan, this is fantastic. You did a great job. I think this Caddy looks good as a low rider. Looks like it would be at home in East L.A. or Dallas, Austin, etc.

Something else to consider, with this new younger group of car buyer, they like to have, or project an active life style. Go look at small car and then at small SUVs. The difference in gas mileage is 1-3 MPG. They choose the SUV of the small little compact car. In return they get a SUV that fits the active life style they want, get higher seating position and the cost for the purchase and the cost of gas is only slightly higher. We own a 2017 Ford Escape, and we get 30mpg. The Focus only got slightly more, that what we traded in so we know.

65 Chevy Shcool Bus
Oldmopars replied to Oldmopars's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
I have had this bus on the back burner because I was just kind of stuck on the interior. I had made the bed, but nothing else. So I finally got some inspiration and made some stuff. I added a mid sized fridge, a sink/stove combo and a small dresser. I still have to paint things, but its is moving forward -
I love that you added the body roll and the lifting of the rear tire, these Golf/Rabbits always do that and it adds to this display. The driver facing the direction of the timer is perfect, makes it look like he was just a little panicked and hit it in the "Nick-of-time". The added skid marks from the other racers gives a great feel of it being a SCCA weekend get together kind of race. All in All, Very cool.

I am loving this conversion.
