Revell '69 Yenko 427 Nova is Out!
Lyle Willits replied to Len Woodruff's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
I said, months ago, I hope they don't reissue the SS grille which is incorrect for a 427 Yenko. No Yenko was ever built with the SS emblems remaining on the car. There were, in fact, 38 Yenko 427 Novas produced according to Don Yenko, himself. The last 3 went out with the factory-installed 396 and only had the Yenko stripes. The wheels provided in the kit are correct optional wheels for a Nova in '69, but, of the few remaining 427 Novas, I've never seen those wheels on one. Part of the Yenko package was to upgrade the wheels and tires with Torque-Thrust wheels and wide tires. To my knowledge, the 427 Novas could be had in any available factory color in '69. The '69 Camaros were COPO cars and the factory limited those to 6 colors. Headers were an option and were often shipped in the trunk, to be installed by the buyer "if they chose to race the car". They all had the SS hood with the dual fake "grilles". They all had bench seats with headrests and rubber flooring material. (Put your flocking away.) Hope this helps. I've been a "student" of Yenko cars for 40 years. I, of course, am fully capable of making mistakes, but I have tons of documentation to verify what I wrote above. -
My eyes are 4 years older thn yours. I had to go look. It's an Orange County International raceway bumper sticker. I know,,,,Maryland car with a California sticker,,,,,hey, it's a make-believe world. Peter - I've been gainfully employed all of my adult life. Why wouldn't I be up at 5:30?

Duplicolor Bright Red. Chrome wheels from a Revell '49 Merc kit, painted black, leaving the trim ring and hardware chromed. 3 inch lowering blocks in the rear. Front axles mounted slightly higher. Whitewalls are painted on with Polly Scale white. Wish I could remember what kit the tires came from. Front and rear seats from a '69 Olds 442 kit. The view most little rich punks saw from their new Z-28's. 409 from an AMT '62 Bel Air kit, with some detail and scratchbuilt stuff. The business office.

Nah. I just don't photograph the flaws!

Just add 60 to a 150. Okay, enough math. Cut the trim from an AMT BelAir, thin it down from the backside, and add it to a new Revell 150 after removing the 150 trim. Still have to make a back seat and correct side panels and seat patterns. IF I get it right , it may go into resin,,,,,but don't hold your breath.

The rumor (AND I STRESS--RUMOR) is that the next '32 version after the 5-window will be a phaeton body. -

1/24 Monogram '30 Ford Model A 5-window Coupe
Lyle Willits replied to Bernard Kron's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
It may have just been added to their web site, but it was announced a few months back. It is, indeed, the 24th scale Monogram, stock only, Model A that has been reissued many times over the years. Even though I still have one unopened, I'm looking forward to getting a couple more. And, oddly enough, it is true that the Revell 25th scale '32 Ford street rod parts fit this kit rather well. This is what I did to one back in the 80's - hence, the pink and baby blue graphics! Looking at it 25 years later,,,,,,,,,,,this is bad. -
Very nice model and well built. However, Ike wouldn't cruise around in a plain ol' Ford. I found a picture of his Lincoln limo.

The door/side panel decals come in the kit. RJ - I have no idea yet how the 409 fits. So far, it's still sitting on the bench. Test fitting shows that there is plenty of room for it though.

I'm building this as a hand-me-down car to the young man in the family, in the late 60's. It got painted Chevrolet Roman Red in the high school auto shop. The front seat was worn through years ago, so the kid got some newer seats at the salvage yard. The man told him he could have the seats from one of them death trap muscle cars for $25, but he'd have to remove them himself and it was up to him to get the blood stains off them. The kid's dad had this full race 409 in the garage for the past 4 years, so he plans to help his son swing it into the old heap soon. The kids in the school autobody shop did a pretty good job straightening everything and even nosed and decked it .

You have some talented builders there. They all look very interesting. MANY years ago, I went to a SABA model car event at the PIR, in conjunction with a car show. I was out in Oregon on business and I had a Saturday to kill. The SABA guy at the show asked me where I was from. I told him "Maryland" and he asked me if that was near this town or that town,,,,,,,, I kept telling him IT'S A STATE - ON THE EAST COAST. He eventually said "okay", but I don't think he got it!

There are generally 4 brakes on each model car. I usually take a break after installing them. -

Very nice. We can display them side by side in Toledo again, but remember - I HAVE THE GREEN ONE THIS YEAR!

I have the magazine and it's a great article, Tim. Thanks for writing it. It puts all the reference for hot rods kits all in one place. Without a dought, the Revell '32 Ford kits are the best. As you probably know, I have built 27 variations of that kit so far. ( I want to build 32 of them.) -
