  1. MCG photoetch is mostly nickle plated and can be polished with an 8000 or 12000 polishing cloth. If yours is brass colored, THEN IT'S SUPPOSED TO BE BRASS COLORED. He includes, in certain kits, brass photoetch parts to duplicate gold colored metal pieces on the 1:1 cars.
  2. The Treatment is simply very overpriced soft carnuba wax. Go to any auto supply store and buy a lifetime supply (if you only use it for models) of carnuba wax in one tin.

  4. John Del'Oso did a how-to article in Model Cars Magazine about 3 years ago on how to make cuts in the body to make it accurate. Bob - your looks beautiful.
  5. I remembered having the idea of converting the Monogram '30 model A coupe to a '29, many years ago, using the cowl, hood and grille shell from the Monogram '29 Ford roadster pickup (Blue Beetle reissue). On Sunday, I pulled the old 80's issue of the roadster pickup down from the shelf and was surprised like a kid on Christmas morning. What I found in the box was a '30 coupe roof section that I had already chopped, the roof sanded smooth and the cowls cut from both kits. All of the '30 Model A parts were in black plastic - not green. Maybe they came from an original flat box from the 60's. I remembered having the idea 20 years ago but I don't remember starting the project. ( It's fun being this age,,,,,everything is new again.) So, I started glueing things together. I want to do a fendered version so I grafted the rear '30 fenders to the '29 fender unit. I'm going to bob the rear fenders about 3 inches. Black parts are from '30 Model A kit. Silver parts are '29 Model A pickup parts. Only thing I can't find anywhere is the trunk/rumble seat lid. Guess I'll use a green plastic one from one of the 3 other kits I have.
  6. Dave - I've started the same car. But I did have the Monogram 24th scale roadster pickup, from the 80's. I'll take some pics tomorrow.
  7. Just got this email,,,,,,,geeeez! Hi Guys, Those of you who attended the US 30 Nostalgia Nationals at the York Fairgrounds, probably noticed a great display of vintage Monogram and other models next to our drag strip display. The owner of the display is a gentleman by the name of David Kinsey. David was so impressed with the drag strip display and the fellowship he experienced from our Club, that he joined our membership. On Saturday night, after packing up his display to leave, he suffered a heart related illness and was rushed to York Hospital. He will undergo a heart catherization on Monday and possible surgery to correct the problems he is encountering. I spoke to him on Sunday and he asked for our members to lift him up in prayer. I hope you will take the opportunity to pray for him and for his family. Thank you, Larry Landis

  9. You won't believe what one guy showed up with. All original builds on store displays and all of the original boxes displayed HAD THE COMPLETE, UNTOUCHED MODEL KIT INSIDE. Non of the boxes were empty! He wanted $250 for one of his original Blue Beetle kits. Uh,,,,,,I didn't buy it. Also, the really great display put on by the CPMCC. Drool over the 100 pics: http://public.fotki.com/mamaprez/model_car...nostalgia-mode/
  10. I can't see all of your monitors, but the colors on mine are correct. The car is Duplicolor yellow-biege and the wheels are red-orange which is a Chevy engine color. Thanks for the nice comments.
  11. Thanks. The wheels DO look red in the photos, but they're actually Chevy engine orange.
  12. Flintstone resin body, photoetched grille. Painted chromed wheels, leaving the trim rings chrome and '53 Ford caps added. Exterior door handles and windshield wiper from Revell '37 Ford pickup. Made hinge-mount mirror from a Revell '57 Chevy face and silver wire. Rub strip added along the running boards. Flathead from Revell '32 Ford sedan kit. Carb scopes from Reps & Mins., linkage, wiring, etc. The end.
  13. These detailed wide-5's are now available from Replicas & Miniatures Company of Maryland. 4 wheels and 4 backing plates per package. Norm says he'll probably sell them for $7.95 BUT THAT IS NOT YET A FIRM PRICE. I detailed one by slightly grinding the back with a Dremel to open the slots. I didn't want to do that on the master because I thought it might be too fragile to cast. You can fill in between the "spokes" with flat black paint is you wish. These can be used on stock '36 thru "39 Ford cars or pickups, dirt track cars, rods or rat rods.
  14. Very beautiful build.
  15. If you remember when color TV was going to be some space-age miracle, then you may remember Gale Storm.(My Little Margie). She passed 5 days ago.
  16. Or,,,,,,,,,,,,just add some thin silver wire obtained in any craft store.
  17. 92 year old, Walter Cronkite is very seriously ill and close to death. If you're too young to know him, then you've never heard a true and honest news journalist. This isn't a sudden trend. Many thousands of people are born every day and many thousands of people die every day. A very small few are famous, so they make the news. "And that's the way it is."
  18. You have your old blondes mixed up. Lindsey Wagner was the Bionic Woman.
  19. The '50 Merc cop car was originally an MPC model.
  20. Fantastic job Bob. Looks just like I remember it from when I was a kid.
  21. Revell makes a 1937 Ford pickup and 1937 Ford panel truck. That's as close to the '35 body style as you're going to find, to my knowledge. I'm not aware of any in resin, but I don't know everything. Lindberg makes a 1934 Ford pickup, but that's a completely different body style.

  23. As of now, I plan on comming to your NNL in August. Bill Stillwagon was there last year and had a great time.
  24. I have used the actual piano hinge from The Model Car Garage. It's an excellent product but it is very time consuming and is very tedious to work with,,,,,,especially if you have 60 year-old eyes.
