or the REAL question,,,,,how can you enter models in an NNL and then leave them on the table and drive home???
It happens every year.
I have now tracked down the owners of the items.
I filled the "gunsites" in the Revell '57 Chevy hood to use on the gasser I'm building.
I didn't plan to have it casted but Norm saw it on Saturday and asked to copy it.
So,,,,if you want one of these, here it is.
I suppose this could be "argued" for years, but I've always heard that Sam Barris was the first to chop a '49 Merc, although the Bettancourt Merc was also built around the very same time. After 60 years, there probably aren't too many people who can say for sure.
Sam' Merc, fully restored.
I'm most certainly NOT an authority on promos, but I believe there was a '61 Starliner promo made.
If there was, it has to be very rare and probably very expensive.
The Modelhaus lists the resin body, interior, rear glass, etc. for $32.00, to be used with the Galaxie kit that you have.
This is a departure from the stuff I usually build but I just love this new Revell '57 chevy kit.
Old M&H Racemaster piecrust slicks. Traction bars from an AMT '63 Chevy II funny car, painted with Duplicolor Chrome.
Stripped down the frame and added the gasser front suspension from a Nomad kit.
There will be no bumper or grille so I made a splash pan from a strip of plastic. It will run a Moon tank from BOB DUDEK.
Obviously, I HAD to buy this decal sheet. Car will be sponsored by LYLE'S CHEVROLET.
These cars remind me of when I was a YOOT in New Joisey.
Up until the late 70's, maybe early 80's, most carpets were furry. Then the trend went to smooth clean carpets. Some of the older models still have the furry carpets, although they may be starting to thin and the colors are leaning more toward grey now. Trends come and go.
Harry Charon, who passed away in March of 2008, was one of the premier replica stock builders in our club.
I believe if he was still with us, this is what he would have done with a Revell 150 (Black Widow) kit.
Thanks for looking.
Great pics Nick. I think I finally figured out what was best of show. The black car, all opened up? (You know I'm not into that foreign stuff) Wouldn't know a Ferrari if one drove over my chest.
A '32 grille and grille shell is provided in the Switchers kit. There is also an additional Model A grille in the kit which is supposed to be a "custom" part, although in the 1:1 world, I don't believe anyone EVER put a Model A grille on a Deuce. The bodies in the kit are a '32 Tudor Sedan and a '32 Phaeton. The kit is early '70's era.
I think Gary forgot to add the LINK. We "old guys" have to help each other out sometimes.
Here's Gary's link:
