  1. 30% of most of the magazines you buy for $7.00 are ADVERTISEMENTS. For $10.00 you get NO ads, no blank white spaces and full color on EVERY page. Not every magazine appeals to everyone. For example, if one only builds NASCAR models, then this magazine probably would mean nothing to that person. This is a specialty magazine that is put together by ONE man who does it because he loves it. It is produced by an on-line self publishing company. Bottom line is -if you like it, buy it. If you don't, then don't buy it. And, for the second time, I don't have a car on the cover. I do have a nice article on the inside, along with Moparlady, Cruz and several other modelers.
  2. Oddly enough, that issue is my favorite one also!!!
  3. More here, hear? http://public.fotki.com/mamaprez/model-clu...eting-10172009/
  4. I have both issues of the magazine and it is great. There are NO advertisements and every page is in color. I'm very appreciative to be in the magazine (NOT on the cover) along with so many other builders, like Cruz. The first issue had a Bill Stillwagon car on the cover. One of the other neat things about it is, there are featured models from all over the world -not just the good 'ol USA. Unless you absolutely HATE hot rod or custom models, YOU NEED TO BUY THIS MAG. On another topic - I've noticed since turning 60 almost a year ago, people now tend to call me Mr. Willits. Guess that's better than foegy, geezer, crumpy old fart, crumudgeon, etc.
  5. There are thousands of online sites for other topics. This is a MODEL CAR FORUM. No problem with someone cracking a joke, etc. but hardcore off-topic stuff does not belong here. The constant off-topic posts years ago on the "Please pray for my dead cat" board is what drove many of us to this forum.
  6. Great detail. Very nice.

  8. THERE'S NO "E" IN CAMARO
  9. Wow. You are the wagonmaster! I wanna see this one in Toledo.
  10. I am extremely embarrassed ( but certainly not surprised) by the responses to this post. While interested personel from Revell are reading our "inputs", all many of you are doing is speculating about economic conditions, pretending to know model car marketing trends, evaluating Revell's financial status and going COMPLETELY off topic by suggesting the tooling of various other models. The question was "what are some ideas for the NEXT issue of the '32 Ford Street Rod kit." From a 60 year old street rod modeler, here are my inputs in regard to the actual topic. 1. While touring phaetons are beautiful cars (in my opinion), they faded from popularity many years ago due to the discomfort of driving them in most climates and the fact that aftermarket 1:1 bodies were not made in any noticable quantities. 2. I aggree that an accurate '32 Ford pickup would be welcomed, but the frame would have to be modified by Revell to remove the fuel tank, which is under the seat on '32 trucks. A bed and tailgate needs to be tooled, possibly new fenders, new tailights, all new interior pieces and (NOT mandatory) the commercial grille and grille shell. When this is all done, IT WILL LOOK DAMNED NEAR like the Lindberg '34 pickup. I know this for a fact because the '32 pickup that I mastered for Replicas & Miniatures Co. of Md. is usually just glanced at, with the assumption that it's just another old Lindberg/AMT '34. 3. A sedan delivery would be pointless because even a novice car modeler can put some plastic sheet in the rear window openings and scribe a rear door into the existing tudor sedan. 4. Sometimes, modelers suggest it would be "neat to have" a B400. I completely agree, but it was the rarest deuce made and are ALMOST never seen in the 1:1 world, in magazines or online. 5. A cabriolet or a sport coupe body could be tooled and should probably "work" with the existing 5-window interior parts. For accuracy, a cabriolet should have a separate "up top" and a boot. 6. While not wanting to take away revenue from my resin casting friends, I believe the VICKIE is the best selling aftermarket body for the Revell '32 kits. Any of the existing engines would work. A NEW REAR would certainly be welcome - possibly a modern or traditonal quick-change. I'll get some flak for this but - like it or not a Chevy 350 engine is the street rod staple and, currently, one has to rob an engine from another kit to put one into a Revell '32. ALL the engines can be swapped between all the Revell '32 variations. Early Olds or Buick engine would also be a nice option. So,,,,,my ideas are numbers 5 or 6, above. I am very thankful that Revell has asked for our inputs. Lyle Willits
  11. Uh,,,,Revell already makes the most accurate and detailed '40 Ford kits ever brought to market.

  13. It was "on the bench". You didn't miss it,,,,,,you just forgot it. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=22249

  15. Chopped and channeled Model A on the new Revell 5-window kit. Reps & Mins now has the louvered trunk lid for the Monogram '30 Model A. These are the new headers for hemis and 429 Ford shotgun motors. They come with the left & right headers, separate flanges, separate block-off plates (not shown here) and separate turnouts so you can build them whatever way you want. Norm will have them in Toledo.
  16. Great pics. Almost like being there.
  17. I'd be surprised if you found any in resin. '35 thru '40 Ford frames were the same. The Revell '40 Ford kits will provide a very detailed chassis
  18. That came out just GREAT. Can't wait to see it on Sunday.
  19. Sometimes even I remember stuff. Amazing, isn't it?
  20. ONE WEEK AWAY
  21. Depends on what your expectations are. The NNL is the grandaddy of them all. Many of the top model cars in the nation (and other parts of the world) will be on display. Model count usually ranges from 800 - 1000. The vendor count is way down from where it was 15 to 20 years ago, but still a very good selection of aftermarket folks. Yes, Don Holthaus is there every year along with many other TOP aftermarket people.
  22. Thanks Andy. A couple people on another board also thought it is a Mill City casting.
  23. Yes, I know it's a '36 Ford trunkback sedan, but does anyone know what caster may have produced it? I bought it from Bob Dudek, but he didn't know the origin of it - it may have been acquired from Ebay. It is a fairly decent casting and the resin is a pale green. It fits the AMT ' 36 Ford kit. Anyone,,,,,,anyone,,,,,,,Bueller?
