  1. Many of the Replicas & Miniatures Co. of Md. (Norm Veber) 1/12th scale chopper parts can be seen here: http://public.fotki.com/mamaprez/lyles_model_cars/motorcycles__race_cars/
  2. Built by Jim Lynch ( I don't know the man) and displayed at NNL EAST . I'd like to know if it's a resin body or did Jim graft an AMT '41 Ford front to a Revell '48 Ford convertible. Anyone? Anyone? Inquiring minds,,,,,,,,,
  3. This is an incredible diorama. So real. So lifelike! I can't think of another thing to add to make it look more like a moderately-priced hotel room. Cudos to the builder.
  4. Buy a canon S-5, set the light balance until the colors are right and shoot in autofocus. If the camera didn't do it all for me, I wouldn't know how to take pictures.
  5. just in case you haven't seen enough yet. http://public.fotki.com/mamaprez/model_car_shows_/nnl-east-2010/
  6. I'm going to correct your correction. Plastic Fanatic magazine most certainly did become Model Cars Magazine. They were both "stand alone" magazines, whatever that means. The last issue of P.F. was August 1999. The first issue of MCM was October, 1999. When you say "he still owns PF", are you referring to Gregg or Roy Sorenson? The important thing is, wherever it came from, it's a great magazine.
  7. Vendors: Model Car World Model Car Garage Drag City Casting (Ed Fluck) Historic Racing Miniatures Replicas & Miniatures Co. of Maryland Bradleys Car Collectables Wheel To Wheel Hobbies Max Wolfthal, who has hundreds of resin kits from various sources. Others that I haven't confirmed yet, plus several old kit and built-ups vendors. And please don't wear the bowtie and the flower. There are several rednecks in Maryland and I can't be responsible for your safety.
  8. Phil - all Micheals stores carry embossing powder in many colors. I just buy the white powder because, after it dries onto whatever surface, it can be painted any color.
  9. I used a couple shades of light tan from Polly Scale. Under the new style "save the planet, curly Q light bulbs", the colors look yellowish.
  10. Revell Bel Air converted to a 210 by removing the Bel Air side trim and replacing it with plain sheet plastic. Rear fender fin chrome shortened. Molded hood, '57 Buick grille from "first tool" AMT '57 Chevy kit. Astros and 1-1/2 inch white walls. Recessed rear license plate. Paint is Duplicolor white and Tamiya orange, several coats of clear pearl and testor's clear lacquer, polished out. Engine is stock with some chrome goodies. Early Chevelle bucket seats and rear seat rescribed to match bucket seat pattern. Real fuzzy dice, made with 1/8th suare inch plastic and coated with embossing powder.
  11. The Olds Fiesta caps are also found in the Revell '59 Impala hardtop 2 in 1 kit. Boxart has mild custom white car with purple flame decals. By the way, Replicas & Miniatures Co. of Md. has the chopped cab, if you don't want to chop your own.
  12. Yes Bob, it's our show. It's an NNL, so there is no judging. The few awards given are by people's choice, so anyone can enter. It's just like NNL EAST but much smaller. We "only" draw about 550 models.
  13. 1 week UNTIL THE MID-ATLANTIC NNL. BE THERE !!!
  14. Here's Craig's info from another forum: that's the old Lindberg 4 banger dragster. It has a LOT more "stuff" in it than the rather simple kit supplied! I had more fun building that little think than any other kit for a looong time! The decals were made especially for it and a couple Bob Dudek turnings really helped to get the look just right! RMCM front photoetched wheels were used as well! This was an actual car that ran back in the early 60's. (well..it's a model of the car...) It had a model B 4 banger that had 220 cubic inches and ran over 107 MPH at the 1960 Nats !! That was a record in the X/D class and stood til the Tempest 4 cylinder engines came along!
  15. Yeah. Your right, of course. Guess this old Chevy guy is just going down hill faster than I thought.
  16. I'm not participating in the challenge, but here are some Jarius Watson builds that I've done in the past.
  17. That would be a 283. This kit dates back to the 70's, explaining the CB radio. There are several inacuracies in the kit. The posts on the back of the headlight lenses were found in all Monogram kits of that era. You can remove the posts and polish the back of the lenses and just cover the hole in the reflector with a small piece of BMF.
  18. I've used Polly Scale water-based acrylic paints for tires for over 30 years with no peeling or yellowing. Wash the tires first in warm soapy water and dry them thoroughly before painting.
  19. I've used Bare Metal Foil for over 30 years. I've never seen it lift or tarnish.
  20. Lots more pics here; {url]http://public.fotki.com/mamaprez/model-club-meetings-2010/mama-meeting-3202010/
  21. Bikes are more than welcome, but the simple truth is, not that many people build motorcycle models. I like yours. Keep them coming.
  22. I'm afraid I will have to bring this photo to the next MAMA meeting. We've never voted anyone out of the club in 21 years but this sort of perverse activity must be stopped before it speads throughout the modeling community. Does he listen to Ricky Martin CD's? Is he allowed within 500 yards of a public school? There needs to be an intervention.
