  1. Whats a “hobby shop” ???
  2. Thus far - AMF - the Dodge Demon build is laying waste to this poor old Maser - gonna have to machine something - maybe the brake drums - just to keep up …. And save me some Evergreen - don’t use it ALL up … and note to any forum visitors who haven’t perused the Drag WIP threads recently - there is a really cool Dodge Demon under constrution there …
  3. Here’s where it goes - so the next problem is to locate it properly - by making the various and sundry arms and links that suspend it - will start with a mockup with the ground clearance - which happens to be included in the drawing - not quite 6 inches -
  4. Rear axle - its all Evergreen plastic - so it’s all glued together w Tamiya liquid glue …
  5. A question and a mystery - did you place spacers above the rear suspension assembly to treek the ride height ? - and it is strange that Tamiya didn’t make the E type considering the they produced the Mark II Sedan wIth a really good 6 cyl engine …. Very nice build …
  6. This was a UK series of books that re-produced contemporary mag articles on - in this case Masers - the publisher did a bunch of them - its just bl wh - but the old articles had drawings or cutaways that are really helpful - and some of these havent yet migrated into the ‘net …. Used copies always pop up on the old book seller sites - sometimes pricey - sometimes not -
  7. Thanks PR - the triangular stabilizer is probably serving the same purpose as the Panhard bar - the rear suspension on the 1953 A6GCS had all of the design features of Maserati’s pre-war race cars - solid rear axle - quarter elliptic springs - friction dampers - and links/arms that seemed to go here and there - two years later both the Maserati 250F and 300S had independent rear suspensions - they got there - i think - before Ferrari …. Now to that axle …. Lots of Evergreen tube, sheet, and rod …. and lots of cutting and sanding - partly done on a Sherline lathe -
  8. Some careful research was done for this kit - the torsion bar assembly has the correct shape - but its slush cast - with a flat side - i added flat strip with rounded edges to correct this …
  9. Since the kit was engineered as a curbside there’s alot to do - first - the kit casting for the after - seat bulkhead will serve as the basis for the trunk - and carry some of the hardware i’ll make to brace and support the rear axle and trans-axle housing - will have to make that too …
  10. And this is what the underside looks like - courtesy of the unfortunate Road course accident that i referred to in the summer ….
  11. Alrighty - the back half of the car needs as much work as the front - this is what’s in the trunk -
  12. You got this is primer yet ??
  13. Grampz - remember the British Model Cars mag fr the late sixties / early seventies ? The one with the 3 view drawings in each issue - did you ever make something fr those plans ??
  14. Thanks MJ - i have the good fortune of living in Miami - so for a number of years i could - for about 30 bucks - show up at the Cavallino track event in palm beach gardens on an early friday morning and just wander thru the paddock - no crowds - and trip over old race cars - like this one - tougher to do now - gotta know somebody - but we still have the great concours and in Florida and random vintage events at the tracks throughout the state - not to mention Rev’s and the Brumos Collection ! Its the ONLY thing that i still like about this nutty state …
  15. thanks P I posted the completed [almost] build in the Under Glass Section ... .. .
  16. I thought he did - casting was very good - but he may not have .... and the castings that PF produced under his own name were actually better but never figured out who did the master - which was quite accurate .... Gramps mite know ... he mite have told me - and i mite have forgot !
