  1. This was a UK series of books that re-produced contemporary mag articles on - in this case Masers - the publisher did a bunch of them - its just bl wh - but the old articles had drawings or cutaways that are really helpful - and some of these havent yet migrated into the ‘net …. Used copies always pop up on the old book seller sites - sometimes pricey - sometimes not -
  2. Thanks PR - the triangular stabilizer is probably serving the same purpose as the Panhard bar - the rear suspension on the 1953 A6GCS had all of the design features of Maserati’s pre-war race cars - solid rear axle - quarter elliptic springs - friction dampers - and links/arms that seemed to go here and there - two years later both the Maserati 250F and 300S had independent rear suspensions - they got there - i think - before Ferrari …. Now to that axle …. Lots of Evergreen tube, sheet, and rod …. and lots of cutting and sanding - partly done on a Sherline lathe -
  3. Some careful research was done for this kit - the torsion bar assembly has the correct shape - but its slush cast - with a flat side - i added flat strip with rounded edges to correct this …
  4. Since the kit was engineered as a curbside there’s alot to do - first - the kit casting for the after - seat bulkhead will serve as the basis for the trunk - and carry some of the hardware i’ll make to brace and support the rear axle and trans-axle housing - will have to make that too …
  5. And this is what the underside looks like - courtesy of the unfortunate Road course accident that i referred to in the summer ….
  6. Alrighty - the back half of the car needs as much work as the front - this is what’s in the trunk -
  7. You got this is primer yet ??
  8. Grampz - remember the British Model Cars mag fr the late sixties / early seventies ? The one with the 3 view drawings in each issue - did you ever make something fr those plans ??
  9. Thanks MJ - i have the good fortune of living in Miami - so for a number of years i could - for about 30 bucks - show up at the Cavallino track event in palm beach gardens on an early friday morning and just wander thru the paddock - no crowds - and trip over old race cars - like this one - tougher to do now - gotta know somebody - but we still have the great concours and in Florida and random vintage events at the tracks throughout the state - not to mention Rev’s and the Brumos Collection ! Its the ONLY thing that i still like about this nutty state …
  10. thanks P I posted the completed [almost] build in the Under Glass Section ... .. .
  11. I thought he did - casting was very good - but he may not have .... and the castings that PF produced under his own name were actually better but never figured out who did the master - which was quite accurate .... Gramps mite know ... he mite have told me - and i mite have forgot !
  12. Gramps - you can run but you can't hide - I've got a combo build in mind ... ... ...
  13. opened the trunk and made a fuel tank and sourced a spare wheel tire from my old stash of Herb Deeks wheels - the kit featured Deeks' white metal wheels and tires ..
