  1. Sigh …
  2. MODEL MUCH BETTER THAN RESTAURANT thanks for posting ...
  3. update for Mr Can ... Carroll won't let me leave the shop - he's got me race prepping 2287 for Sebring - 18 hr days for slaves wages - but at least its glamorous work !!
  4. This is what the instr dash on 2287 looked like during the ‘64 racing season - at some point - maybe in ‘65 ? It was reconfigured - in its present state it has the same cluster gauge arrangement as the other Daytona Coupes - but this was the layout in ‘64 … the speedo was sent to the middle of the dash - presumably to make space for the air vent …
  5. Its funny how handy Sharpies are sometimes - using 3D printed switches on the console - hard to handle and prep -
  6. Daytona Coupe steering wheel finished with a brown Sharpie and some grip tape that i saw in the Contemp shots - made from a thin strip of Parafilm / painted with Tamiya semi-gloss …
  7. The pedals are etched also - and they carry reminders of the Cobra’s origins -
  8. Gracias J In order to assemble the Cobra steering wheel - you’ve got to bend the spokes about 20 degrees- the ends have tiny tabs that glue into 3 corresponding slots on the wheel - cool - the rim is wood - with some tape for grip ….
  9. The windshield is a bit cloudy and does have a lot of scratches at the moment - I’ll take a swing at this before the body is attached to the frame…. Much of the cloudy finish is on the inside - i’ll get some of it out …
  10. Many pages ago i cut apart the roof to correct some shape issues - i managed to get a reasonable seat for the windshield - this is a clear resin kit casting - and now its time to apply an additional seal - made from two different sizes of black wire - CA glued around the windshield - then some fl bl trim paint - gives me a decent looking windshield that hides the small gaps that the late Venom battled on his build of this kit …
  11. The VRM roundels and Kamm tail decal is/are really great - the exhaust pipes are finished with fl white and alot of oil and track grime -
  12. The compound removes a little paint - but not too much …
  13. The body wears 2 coats of Model Master enamel that was air-brushed months ago - don’t want to clear coat it - so I’m using some Tamiya compound … and then a little wax …
  14. More dash thoughts - the photo-etch sheet has a great dash face - which I can’t use - and although the great sheet of decals is designed to make one of the ‘65 team coupes - it has great white - really white - printing - and excellent Smith’s dash gauges … and notice who did the artwork for this great decal sheet - the late Michael Quarterman …
  15. It hadnt occurred to me - but a the Mercedes wire wheels are alot different than Borranis - so there are a bunch of kits that could use 3D printed wheels with the outside laced wire pattern - Mercedes, of course, made the right decision to leave competition - but if there had been no Lemans disaster - it would have been interesting to see if MB would have abandoned front engine design in grand prix comp before the engine capacity change in ‘61 …
  16. another Dave friedman shot fr Gramps the prototype dash is not at all like the Cobra dash with the clustered gauges wonder why ...
  17. this is a photo - probably Dave Friedman's - of 2287 in Europe in '64 [thanks Gramps] confirmation - the dash on 2287 in '64 was a prototype configuration that did not carry over into the other coupes - the '65 coupes - and later 2287 - bunched the gauges in two rows - certainly easier to see for the race driver - Harold's kit is a '65 Coupe - with an accurate dash for those cars - but I'll have to make some mods for the '64 Sebring car ...
