I appreciate you checking! Thanks! I am surprised that back then that this was never kitted stock, they did the funny car, petty stock car and the LA Dart. Seems a little odd! I also am curious which molds if any were modified into the 3 different kits or if they were all done separate.

Thank you! I appreciate the info. I will look into Hart’s Parts and see if they have the front, finding the rear should be fairly easy.

Modified (sort of)

Great idea and very well done! -
Great restoration looks fantastic! I wanted to ask if the bumpers for this kit are the same as the LA Dart kit. I have an original body of this but that’s all I have is the body, I thought maybe the bumpers are the same.

Randy I will take a look, I might have a couple of these in the stash and maybe we could trade!

Yes, that is an old Hubley, hope to finish it soon!

Tom I believe that was it! Super nice looking! That is much more factory correct than mine, I think I went over board with the side window chrome!

This is one I just finished. It’s the pre assembled diecast of I believe George Poteets or it could have been a Posies diecast; can’t remember! Anyway I saw this type of build awhile ago in one of the magazines (can’t remember which magazine it was.....BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH memory!) the builder removed the second chrome strip from the side or possibly both and made a stock looking wagon. I picked this up in a lot of stuff and it was assembled with both bumpers upside down so I figured I would try to change it up! I removed the lower chrome on the side and filled the hood vents, that was basically the body mods. I changed the steering wheel painted the interior to match the outside, changed the wheels and tires and that’s about it! I thought about a different style two-tone but wanted to keep it simple, wish I would have used a lighter blue instead of turquoise. Bare metal foil was very tough as the edges of the chrome are very “soft” , I thought it came out ok and I would like to do another but next time remove all the side chrome and put a thin one down the sides to represent a more base model! As always comments welcome!

Hi all, just finished this up the other day. Pretty much box stock build, used some wheels from a diecast and got it as low as I could. The paint looks very different in the pictures, it’s lime green metallic and pearl white on the fenders. I left the running boards white as I thought that if I painted them black rubber it would have stuck out too much. As always comments are welcome. Thanks!

Nice! Excellent body and paint work! -
Looks great! Very nice job!

Very nice model, good choice of the colors also! These kits are very tough with all the flashing but look nice when completed. I finished this same kit this past year and I’m not sure I would tackle another!

Completed another great trade with Bigtruck, thanks Ken!

Yes that is the interior that came with the kit, it’s really nice and could easily be used for a lot of other projects!

What’s the best, safest and easiest way to decant spray cans? These are older paint cans and are not spraying. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks !

This paint was given to me by a club member who worked in a body shop, it was a color they used on a customers car so I’m not sure what it is, I wish I had more of it cause I really like it!

This is the AMT 62 Pontiac Catalina custom kit, built box stock. I painted this a long time ago, probably when the kit first came out and shelved it mostly because of paint flaws. Dug it out a couple weeks ago and was going to strip it, instead I polished it and put it together. This is a really nice kit, the issues I had were really all of my own doing. The frame and floor were both warped, dipping in the front a decent amount. My mistake was thinking it would straighten out in final assembly, it kind of did with clamps epoxy and JB weld. My other main mistake was way back when I painted it, the custom nose piece and the grille surround were very different colors of gold ( one reason it went back in the box)! So I tried to cover it up with pearl white and a single “scallop” down the center of the hood. The white did not cover well so it took multiple coats and the edge is not very crisp. With all the problems I made it still is a nice kit to build and it looks ok for the shelf! Comments always welcome!
