I used to order his Ford and Dana rears just to be able to harvest the u-joints. I asked him if he would sell me some. He shipped me a few... no charge. He now sells them on his site. He has thrown in small parts with orders now and then.

Around 1963, for my birthday I would get a few cards in the mail from aunts .. nice crisp $1 bills. At times I would amass a fortune of $3. My dad worked at Grumman and would pass a hobby shop on his way home. The kits were $1.09, I gave my dad a $1 bill .. he kicked in the rest. I'd ask him to get whatever they had, I gave him a short list. Usually something like a '40 or '36 AMT Ford.

I took 5 projects to a club meeting last night. I'm thinking of breaking one out of the pack just to get the 1st one done in over a year.

I've been using this for a while, of course with lacquer only. I heat it up in hot water, sprays great and it tolerates a heavy hand.

I would think so. I don't recall where the battery box was exactly (trunk for sure) what size battery it took. But it was cool to have one with working lights in 1965 or 1966.

I have an order coming from them. Some out of stock stuff I was waiting for.

We had one close about 15 years ago, a great shop. It was a hike but they would special order anything for us. The husband was a Vietnam vet and developed cancer from Agent Orange exposure. They were supposed to have a final sale, but the shop contents were bought up by someone unknown to us.

I have mixed Elmer's white glue with decal water, sometimes it helps. I'm doing... or was doing... a box art '40 Ford with a sheet of Chimneyville decals I've had for years. The stock # is 1601. I'm using the flames only. They refuse to come off the backing no matter how long they soak. My plan is to contact STS decals to see if they can replicate what I need.

If it is in a corner... I'd go with an STP sticker over it.

I built the OG one with the working lights. The kit had all the stock car parts in it.

My girlfriend was driving hone from work a few years ago, she lives in the sticks, quite rural for the most part. She comes to a stop sign and sees a hawk dismembering a LIVE bluejay. It really shook her.

Another early one was the AMT 1932 Ford coupe. Box stock <smirk>... I used the wire wheels, painted the bottom blue, the top yellow with Testors enamel. Even at age 7 I knew it looked like a-double-s.

Thanks, this is what I was thinking. Hobby Lobby may have the Foose truck, I have to look. This would be a little more modern over the '53. I know I have a '53 around somewhere. I still may spring for the '57 conversion, which is currently sold out. I definitely want a working tailgate and a shorter bed.

Mr. Ivan has rediscovered one of his cat beds. He has even been sleeping in it all night. Or that is what he tells me.

My sister was around 5, she had long blond hair.. a couple of birds thought it may make good nest material. She was scared of them for a while after.

Those were tough to build. I grew up with one kid who could build any Revell un-buildable and make them look good.

I have a ghastly assortment of spray cans stored in multiple locations. Basement kitchen cabinets, a big box in the boiler room, front foyer, spare bedroom, corner of dining room. A couple years back in the midst of a serious building binge .. I had 65 cans out on the kitchen counters and dining room table.

I have .020" brass rod I use often to pin small things. I used a lot of 1/32" and 3/64" brass rod as well. For the past few years I've been using 1/32" stainless steel pins from McMaster Carr. In 1/8", 3/16" and 1/4" lengths. The longer ones can be cut down. They go for about $10 per 100.

I never saw a cat that ate like Chloe. She didn't like most human food outside of cold cuts, cheese, pizza, whipped cream. Wet food, she got a half small can 2x a day. There was dry food she grazed on. She would eat fast... eat Ivan's food too then barf it up at least a few times a week. That's when we fed them separately. Now I'm down to just Ivan. He likes mainly dry food these days. I give him a third of a small can 2x a day. He's just not much of a foodie.

A few years back, on a summer day, I saw baby RATS playing in the front yard. Off to Ace Hardware to get some Victor traps. The new plastic ones work better than the OG wood ones. I set 3 of them out, within minutes I bagged one, finally the count was 4 within 2 days. I did accidentally bag a Robin in one. I opened up a cat litter container and placed it over the traps, no more birds. I see one rat around now. I back up to a large tract of woods on one side, so I do get a little bit of everything. I'll try setting the traps again at night, with the container over them. I don't want to hurt the squirrels.

I built one when they came out, with the trailer IIRC. Someone my mom worked with knew I built models. She gave my mom the same car, a dealer promo, molded in red.

Mine was in 1961, the Monogram Black Widow. I got it for Xmas when I was 6. I still get a flashback when I see those tires or the hub caps in someone's junk box at model shows. When I was 7 or 8, we had a Xmas gift exchange at school. It was something used or for less than a $1. Format was grab bag, 1 for the girls, 1 for the boys. I drew a Pyro 1/32 Jersey Bounce kit. I wasn't into the small scale thing. My brother's class did the same thing. He got a Hardy Boys book, so we made a trade. I have a big Hardy Boys book collection, that book was The House On The Cliff, printed in 1927.

I like Aleen's Tacky Glue too. A white glue, thicker than Elmer's. I use it for mock ups mostly. I have a body I need to mount door mirrors on. The mount on the mirror measures .045", over the plating. I'm not crazy about fiddling with them too much. So far I have two 3/64" holes drilled in the doors and I need to do a fit-check before the final painting. Drilling out the mirrors for a different pins... no thanks. I'll probably use X22 Tamiya acrylic clear as my glue.
