  1. I'm using a Mopar touch up paint, the actual plum crazy. I find it on eBay.
  2. Imagine this... start a model company that builds what you are into. No 3D stuff. Good old styrene. I'd have a couple of lines of stock cars, old school modifieds, Saturday night special street stocks and late models.
  3. Definitely go wit-pro. I'd sell or give away everything I have... less the cat and model stuff. Take care of family and my good friends forever. Double down on a big garage, obscenely big. It should have lots of lifts and tools galore. And a big CNC machine shop to play in. Hire some really good help. Restore a few old cars. I'd have a couple of houses in the area, possibly one with an ocean view in Montauk.
  4. Looking sharp. I have one too, but it will get out of hand, as usual. I was thinking of a '57 conversion. A shortened bed, 3D engine, etc. I envy those who build box stock-ish.
  5. I joined. My issue is I work off my phone and making photos small enough isn't easy. The format is similar to the old Rsndy Ayers forum.
  6. A decent shot of my eBay solar pool lights.
  7. 62 F, RH of 71%. I might shoot some clear later on. Pool had some branches and leaves in it. Picked up bigger branches off the lawn. Today should break 80. Yesterday morning the pool was 66, later in the day it was 72. A big drop from 83 a few days ago. I just may close it up early. Towards late September stuff from the oak trees fall into it.
  8. More Bird/Squirrel Buddy Activity. The squirrels keep rotating the platform. They take mighty leaps off the deck rail. 472482e4-222d-485c-9eae-b64393591654.mp4 9d2ddd88-5566-40c8-b226-63cf55a22ece.mp4 d198eb04-d86b-42fb-a8c9-360b00efc753.mp4
  9. 58 F and less humid. We did get some wind from Erin that blew stuff out of the trees. My pool is a mess. Overall it feels more like October than August. Went down to the ocean yesterday morning, no swimming of course. The surf was wicked. The pictures really don't capture it. VID_20250821_090333_251.mp4
  10. For the Jag style rear, try VCG Resins. It is often sold out, shoot Josh an email if you are interested. Juan4you had some front & rears on his eBay site, but he's not selling right now.
  11. Ive been gravitating towards either Mr. Hobby brand clears or real auto body clears. SEM makes one i like. Tamiya TS-13 is hard to beat.
  12. I picked up a Grumpys Toy Vega at a discount store and dove into it...it was never a decent kit from day 1. It was not that many years back when the OG kits fetched $500 + on a certain auction site.
  13. Ivan perched on a snack tray and knocking things off. He doesn't like the sound of rain, so he was sticking close with me.
  14. 60 F, RH of 95% and still raining lightly. No wind yet from Erin.
  15. 64 with a RH of 78 and overcast.we are supposed to get a drive by of hurricane Erin. The local surfers are excited, I may go down to the ocean for a look.
  16. I took a full time machine shop course in early 1981 that was great. I got PAID to learn. Out of about the 30 we started with, maybe 18 stuck around to graduate. By 10 years after, I was 1 of 3 that were still in the trade. I know it went on for a couple more years, then the funding ran out.
  17. There's the answer. They use the local shop to pick the owner's brain and buy on Amazon. I like to buy local so I CAN pick the owner's brain. Kit prices, outside of Hobby Lobby with the 40% off, are $30 to $40. Online you may save a couple of bucks if there is free shipping. Just about any shop has ditched aftermarket parts completely. I guess they sit around too long. Most local builders don't get that deep into builds. Just my theory.
  18. Went to my girlfriend's sister's house yesterday for a late lunch/early dinner. On the menu: One huge tomahawk steak. I'm supposed to be getting a picture of it. It easily fed 4 of us with leftovers. The little dog got the bone.
  19. 70 with an RH of 68. What a difference from a scorching Saturday just 3 days ago. The upside is, I'll be taking my '66 Belair to a local cruise. The expected high will be around 75.
  20. We are down to just a handful of shops. They used to be all over, even up through 2010. Sone of us would do a hobby store crawl on a Saturday, hit 4 to 6 shops in an afternoon. We have a close by shop that has been completely done over, no more clutter like the old store. They got kits and paint, zero aftermarket stuff.
  21. My first MPC kit was a 1966 Pontiac product. They made loads of Pontiacs and Mopars. I recall a 1976 Fury convertible. Their Charger was pretty nice. I found the bodies to be molded thinner than AMT kits and the detail was a little crisper.
  22. 70 F at 6 AM. I did sleep with the windows open last night. It was breezy so I had to close the deck umbrellas just in case. Overcast and looks like rain... with some luck. I think we have had maybe 3 days of significant rain all summer.
  23. More of the same today. It never rained yesterday. Humidity is a bit lower. I was doing garden work, watering plants and taking pool breaks. Went to dinner with the girlfriend, came back and hit the pool. The water temperature was warmer than the air.
  24. Hot peppers 🌶 anyone? Red cayennes are coming in strong, at least 6 per day. Green ones are siricha (sp?), similar to jalapeños. This batch I'm slicing up, vacuum sealed and into the freezer. I pickled a couple of jars of them too. Plants are still producing like mad.
  25. This was daylight and I have no cats around outside. Owls, I have yet to see one. Since the feathers had a 80' spread I'm saying hawk.
