  1. 36 F and rainy..again. It rained all day Saturday and never got above 42. And some wicked wind last night.
  2. Tamiya TS-33 Dull Red is close to red primer.
  3. I'm all in with lacquer. Automotive type or Tamiya acrylic-lacquer sprays. Even the Testors Extreme Lacquers work well. I use real automotive 1k clears too.
  4. When my son picked up our Ivan at 6 weeks old, he was spitting and hissing something fierce. He put him inside his coat and he quieted down. Once home he was introduced to real cat food and kitten formula. But he would still hide when we came to feed him. He would eat, crawl up in my lap, purr and fall asleep after. He was an interesting kitten.
  5. 36 F and...more rain on Long Island. Downright chilly outside. I doubt I'll be doing any painting today... maybe small items if I lean out the back door...
  6. How does the Moebius Chevy II kit stack up against the AMT kits? I'd hope they go together better than the AMT ones.
  7. I use Tamiya NATO black and the newer TS-82 tire black. I also like Mr. Surfacer black primer, I shot some Mr. Surfacer matte clear over that.
  8. Some hiss very early, out of instinct. Amazing even before the eyes open up. Which is is about at 2 weeks old... and they start walking. Or try to. See if you can sneak an old towel or bath mat under the dresser. They will be much warmer. Wipe up 1/2 the area at a time, fold and lay down the towel. Momma will not be happy if you move them out, but might tolerate it for a minute. Place them in a box works, but give momma access to them.
  9. And as kids, we used cardboard boxes, perched on top of mom's washing machine...
  10. I went back and thinned my Vallejo and painted a steering wheel (center spokes) last night. MUCH better this time. I'll stick with the Tamiya clear paints in the jar.
  11. One of my brother's neighbors was in the brush business, gave us a bunch some years ago. All quality sables. I do need to get more #00 though. I did some Vallejo before without thinning it... no bueno. It washed off well and will thin it on my next attempt.
  12. Heat is on Netflix.
  13. So she trusts you. Try to handle them every day a little bit. They need to get used to people. Are you keeping them? I fostered a momma cat years ago, she had 5 kittens and I found homes for them.
  14. Some momma cats will scour the house looking for a safe spot to give birth. They prowl all over to find a quiet place a few days before the event. I've had them move kittens to more secluded spots if they get too much attention. You wake up and momma found better digs for them. Most will let trusted people handle them, which is essential to socializing them.
  15. I've been using mostly Vallejo acrylics to brush on for small-ish details. I'll squeeze some into a bottle cap, add a drop or 2 of water. It is thick right out if the bottle. It covers well, I do give things a 2nd coat most of the time.
  16. I just read all 21 pages... wow. Is there a 3D Printing book for crayon-eaters? There seems to be a lot to it. I have a lot of CAD background, I did a lot of CNC programming, mainly on mills, vertical and horizontal. I'm completely computer literate.. at least I think I am. I do know guys who do a lot of printing (from bought) files that are pretty much urban-amish. They have zero CAD skills and are barely computer literate. I just bought a new PC that should be able to handle anything. My son's girlfriend works at a library that offers printing and has tinkercad classes. One step at a time, I'll do research into terms I see here first. I'd like to work with one program, as in Blender. I have to look up "slicer" programs. Another new term for me. For working space, I have a clean finished basement. My son is between apartments and is using it for storage. I jotted down some notes and will ask questions as I educate myself, thanks!
  17. 27 F here on the Island. No wind or rain for a change. By now people are out doing yard chores... but not this year. Even the landscape crews are off to a late start.
  18. I'm not sure if I will have something new done.. but I will be there.
  19. I'm planning to see it when it comes out.
  20. 39 F...and MORE rain... been a real dreary spring on the Island. Forecast for the next 10 days shows 2 days over 50 with some nights with sub 30 temperatures.
  21. Must be instructions for the crayon-eater crowd.
  22. I use either Mr. Surfacer or Duplicolor primers. Tamiya too, I like their white. I use everything, right out of the can. I do warm it up for final primering. I have a dehydrator I use when I want to move projects faster. Otherwise I go with an "overnight" rule with anything I prime
  23. The little one is "playing the banjo". That was a term my grandmother came up with.
  24. I built an AMT '63 around 1998. The molds are showing their age. I had to re-scribe quite a bit of the door lines.. not fun. It still built up nicely for a very simple kit.
  25. I really like it. Post more chassis pix when you get a chance. I like the wheels too.
