  1. I have some vintage kits I've picked up in recent years at decent prices. I got a small box 1957 T-Bird, a 1949 Merc at shows for $50 each. 100% complete. Locally I got a pair of 1962 Ford Galaxie ragtops for $110. One was missing the top, found it on eBay. The boxes are in good shape. I have a few OG issues 1932 Ford AMT kits, one ran me $25. It boils down to being in the right place at the right time. I always check garage sales, antique stores, thrift stores.
  2. The son runs the tire business, the dad Don was at the 2023 NNL East and had some cards to hand out. With so many other tire/wheel sources out there, they are no longer the only game in town. Although their whitewall tires and slicks were hard to beat.
  3. Burbank Hobbies offered to send out notifications when they are in. Nothing about a pre order. Try Model Roundup.
  4. Meh... I make a habit of rarely checking my emails. It is a PTSD thing from my working days. I'd rather wait until my NF stops working, then get them on the phone.
  5. Can the Alclad be handled after? I used Spaz Stix chrome and it couldn't be handled much. I bought the Revell stuff, still haven't used it. Think it was around $31 on eBay. Maybe from Burbank Hobbies.
  6. I shoot either lacquer or acrylic-lacquers, so I go with automotive grade primers or good hobby primers only. Not cheap, but no drama with them. Almost everything goes into the dehydrator. Primer takes 1.5 to 2 hours to sand between coats, color coats 2 to 3 hours. Putty work, I give it an hour before I can sand it.
  7. I built one many years back..it had an outhouse door for the front bumper.
  8. I really dig garage dioramas. As a kid, my mom worked in a department store and would bring home heavy coat boxes that were white. The top and bottoms were usable. We would cut out 1 or 2 sides and have at it. I was about 12 at the time. Cut out windows, make frames from construction paper. A-frame engine hoists were a cinch. I really should get one going, it would have to fit into an 11" x 17" bankers box for storage.
  9. One more of Ivan sitting with me.
  10. One club member has a 2WD kit open and will bring it to the next meeting, so I will find out in a few weeks.
  11. Sure beats the Racers Wedge with the 4 wheels. I've seen some converted to 2 wheels.
  12. Can the 2WD Moebius truck chassis be swapped into it? I'd like to build a 2WD version. Or what would be the best kit just to swap the bed and wrecker parts into?
  13. I have shot it over white primer with success.
  14. I like that 409, it had great detail to it.
  15. I still have a bunch of them. Likely every iteration or close to that. I see it as a blank canvas, as is the case with other Trophy Series kits 🏆.
  16. I like it, aftermarket decals?
  17. I think that some of the 3D stuff has TOO much detail, like the old Revell kits that were a challenge. I like to snip the parts off far away from the part. Real small parts I work over a plastic container with a piece of paper towel on the bottom so they won't bounce out. Some suppliers have pictures to aid assembly which I appreciate.
  18. Mine showed up yesterday. I wrapped it to me as a gift from my cat. But I opened it first...
  19. Nice. The assembly line process paid off.
  20. Mine is due to show up on the 27th. I will likely dive right into it.
  21. The Vega was even more radical over the coupe. I had been out to his shop once, around 1979 or 1980. The shop was on the family farm in Baiting Hollow. I recall cars in the build process and he had a frame table. I'm not sure where to go for reference material. There is or was a site, LaSheefs that had old modifieds on it. The Vega and other cars of his have been restored in recent years. He came out with a radical extreme offset Chevette for 1981, maybe 1982. They wouldn't let him run it at Islip. This was about the time Charlie said "up yours" to Long Island racing and hit the tour. He would come back for the big tour races. He drove the #5 Wilsberg owned Cavalier from then on.
  22. Like I said, I know I have some old snow photos, IIRC from a 1960 blizzard. We lived close to a train yard where conductors parked. There was one car stuck out on the road, snow drifted in. My dad went out to make sure nobody was inside. Likely the driver hoofed it back to the train yard.
  23. I also want to finish some stalled projects and TRY not to start MORE. I really need a small lathe. I have it narrowed down to a Sherline. Next is a dedicated modeling area, I build right now on my fining room table. Lastly, keep selling off/trading my older kits.
  24. Flat out amazing. Most of the parts for a gasser are in that kit. I agree on the use of aftermarket headers. I was selling some of those kits at a recent show.. could not get a bite on any of them.
  25. Great build. I like the level of detail. There was a NASCAR convertible division that ran mainly in the mid west. Some of those had roll bars.
