  1. This will be my last post before we see this under glass. So the body is painted, decaled, cleared and weathered. Just a few more details to iron out. Front seats, the roll bar and finish the top. I hope to have this done before I go back to work on Wednesday.
  2. If your thinner is getting filthy then you are using it wrong. You don't soak the brushes in it, or swirl it around until the brush is clean. You dip the dirty brush in the cleaner and then wipe the brush on a paper towel. Repeat until the brush is clean. My bottle is half empty, but it is as clear as the day I bought it.
  3. The original AMT '34 came with steel dually wheels, just need to find someone willing to part with a set.
  4. Typed from my smart phone with the auto correct on. That would be "purple pond".
  5. I have never had bmf adhesive stand up to a soak in the people pond. If you have removed the paint how is the bmf still there?
  6. In addition to what Zenrat said about the unlimited build, the car must appear street legal. Headlights, taillights, license plates and appear to be capable of running cross country at a high rate of speed. A pro street with a ten gallon fuel cell for instance (someone tried it) would not be a good choice. And Zen, no one might have tried a full Nascar racer, but the Nascar chassis' have been used a few times. My Monza and a clever Nissan Cherry come to mind.
  7. Wow. I love the classic styling.
  8. This will help. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=52417
  9. Congrats Zenrat! You certainly have a knack for building something that captures folks attention.
  10. First. Id like to point out that this is your girlfriends son. Discipline should not be your job. It's hers. If she has not taught this boy respect for property yet, then thats the first thing you address. With her. Only if she is no help should you go further. Start by locking your tools. Also, when something of yours disappears, something of his does. Start with his mattress. A few nights on the floor will get his attention. Worse case is that she has never disciplined the child and now looks to you to do so. If that is the case then you are in real trouble. In my experience the problem starts with the parent. Let us know how this developes.
  11. Normally I detest outlaw hoods because they are so very over done, but this one seems to work well with the shape of the body. Keep it going, I like it.
  12. Actually I was thinking about a Ferrari powered Chevette.
  13. I doubt such a thing exists. At least not open to public knowlwdge.
  14. This might help you posting pics. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=52417
  15. A couple of mock up shots. The top will either be flat black or primer grey with a black wash to bring out the molded fabric pattern. More soon. I hope to finish this before years end.
  16. That goes for me too. The Cannonball has become a bit of a tradition now after five successful years. Thanks for keeping it going.
  17. Well I was going to go for a rather clean look on this one, but something happened when I was clearing to change my mind. Apparently Krylon Italian Olive paint and Krylon Crystal Clear Satin are incompatible. I got this rather cool looking crazing that looks oddly in scale and looks a lot like old flaking paint. A little acrylic wash really brings out the effect. So a weathered rod it will be after all. I drilled out the scoop. I like the look now. The body in paint. I'm really hoping for the same crazing after the decals.
  18. Interesting. Looking forward to more.
  19. Good thinkin. I was headed to the toy aisle to have a look around.
  20. Looks good, but I'd really like to see some better pics.
  21. I'm still looking around for a source of truck/tractor tires/wheels, without spending a whole bunch. If anyone comes across some in an un-thought of place please let us know.
  22. Yeah, I'm thinking about an Italian American hybrid myself. Some style and comfort are in order.
  23. Ron, you are close enough now to raid my parts bins if you need stuff like that. I'd be happy to help out.
  24. Very col idea. I'll be making one.
