  1. Well I'll admit, I recognized Shardik from the Stephen King Dark Tower Series in which he has a great bearlike machine called Shardik, one of several literary shout out's he does to Richard Adams. I have yet to read the Richard Adams novels, but they are on my list of things to do. The Chevy IS 1/24. If you're interested, I have a folder in my Photobucket called 39 Chevy gasser. Just a few starting pics in there now, but there will be more soon. As you know, good 1/24 parts are hard to find. I'm using the I-6 from the 1/24 '53 Chevy coupe. Wheels, tires and front axle from the 1/24 Boothill Express. How I ever accumulated such a collection of 1/24 is quite beyond me. A lot of Monogram from the 70's is 1/24. Do a good search on Ebay once you figure out what you are going with the kit.
  2. Holy COW! Gabriel you are a genius! I actually have one of these in a tool box Id gotten from my uncle when he went into a care facility, but I had no idea what it was. It worked out great.
  3. Sanding sticks are good for most things but I'm having difficulty sanding the ejector marks on the inside of a '39 Chevy cab. Has anyone invented a home made tool for sanding in such closed locations? Any help would be appreciated.
  4. And I like it.
  5. Thanks John. I'm sure somebody needs this info.
  6. It's nice to see all the interest this year. It's gonna be fun.
  7. Hey pencil me in too. I got a partial '39 Chevy coupe in a trade earlier and I think it'll make a groovy gasser. I will be using a 235 I-6 from a Monogram '53 Chevy. (Trying to keep it all 1/24) Rear tires/wheels are from the Boothill Express.
  8. Shardik (a Richard Adams fan I assume) you and your Chevy are added to the roster. I'm building one now and can vouch for it's lousiness. Wait until you see the hole in the firewall for no particular reason.
  9. Love it!
  10. Looking forward to having both of you.
  11. Nice! The Lindberg versions don't have the dual rear wheels, but the AMT's do! I did a shop truck from this kit last year. I'm looking forward to seeing what you do.
  12. I'm a little unclear here. Are the wood panels all cut, shaped and ready to go on? Or is that still left to do?
  13. I like rat rods. I like patina'd rods. I like beaters, works-in-progress, whatever you want to call them. But this is just pointless. I dearly hope this turns into a $150,000 turkey he can't sell.
  14. Chad, I see some solid, clean work there. Look into getting some Bare Metal Foil.
  15. The following is my thoughts only and not a rule here. I like to keep things realistic. In my opinion, not only should this thing be fast as heck, but it should also be able to handle pretty well. Something with a trailer or is crazy heavy isn't going to carve any corners. If you can combine handling with a powerful engine and some extra fuel capacity, good on ya. ------------------------------------------------------------- That being said, build whatever you would want to run cross country in, and feel could win. Period. That is the spirit of the Cannonball. If a unicycle with a radial engine and a propeller is your idea of a good time by all means build it. Every time we have done a peoples choice poll at the end, the better build has won, not the best designed Cannonballer. If that was the case, I would have won every time.
  16. Hmm................so how many of you are going to raid a perfectly good kit to build this project? I'm considering hacking up a brand new Revell '67 Charger for the roof. I must be nuts.
  17. Glad to hear it William. The Cannonball consistently pulls in some of the best builders and over all good folks. We've (knock wood) never had any sort of drama or hard feelings. BTW, I'm in Tampa. Are you new to the area and are you involved with any of the local contests?
  18. Sounds like a wonderful holiday. Congratulations!
  19. You guys sure are in a hurry.
  20. Nope. Yep. And you are welcome. Glad to have you on the forums.
  21. Mike, you should join my Nightmare kits CBP, with this.
  22. Whatever happened to this?
  23. My sons got me 4 cans of One Coat Lacquer and a bottle of Zap-a-Gap. Very nice.
  24. I have updated the roster. Please tell us what is wrong with the kit that way those of us who have the kit yet unopened can know what we are getting into. And we can better appreciate the work your putting in.
  25. Okay so................I picked up a 1/24 Monogram '39 Chevy coupe here recently in a trade. The engine is missing but the rest is there. So the 235 I-6 from the Revell 1/24 '53 Bel Aire will finish it up, which put me in a great position to join you folks in this CBP. It will be a gasser. Pics soon.
