Wow. I'm likin' it!

Update: Mexican blanket done. Basswood side boards, sides and rear of the deck frame. They were stained with burnt sienna and raw sienna acrylic craft paints. I filled the spare tire well and I'm having difficulty making the fender look like nothing was there. Grill looking good. I've got a great banjo steering wheel from some diecast that's really going to look good in this. More soon.

I was lucky enough to get this one on the first go around. Great lady.

Thanks gents. I'll give it a go. The paint itself is going to be very flat, but I'll shoot some acrylic clear where the decal is going to go.

Hmm......I need to get back on the stick on my models, but I've really been kicking around my plans for the paint. Looks like I'm going with a Cranky-esque weathered paint job like I did on my 37 Chev. More soon.

Oh, I thought you were correcting me. My mistake. No harm done. As for Stroud's Starliner, I think it's fantastic, but I do prefer the smaller wheels on the other.

I'm building a couple of rat rods and I want some old flames or door art and I want it faded and a little scuffed. Before I waste paint and decals experimenting I was wondering if anyone had done this before and could give me a pointer or two please.

The chop looks great. However it looks like you painted before the body mods were completely smoothed and finished. Further plans?

The car in SR states that the wheels on the Starliner are 18x8 and 18x9's. So yeah, they avoided that 20+ inch craze that would make the car even harder to get low but still have a contemporary look. I think it's a great looking car.

He obviously scratched the vent and those are a type of fuel injection system, that was widely used in the 60's I believe.

I have posted this tip many times. If you encounter a paint that is resistant to Super Clean/Purple Power, like cured lacquers can be, sand down to the primer in 6 or 7 spots and let the chemical attack the primer. No primer I have ever used is resistant to this stuff. The chemical (lye I believe) will attack the primer and the paint will slough off like snake skin. If you used Testors One Coat Lacquers without primer, 91% alcohol is very effective. Between these two products, you should have no problems stripping anything and they are easily disposed of when it comes time.

You should be peeling masking tape very shortly after painting. As soon as the paint starts to tack up. If you wait until it cures, you're not going to be happy with the results.

I saw this built on an episode of Rides. Might be worth checking out.
