  1. I/m really enjoying seeing this come together. Very authentic look.
  2. No need to apologize. When I tried the salt technique, I didn't really get the effect I was after. But I still liked the effect I got. I was too liberal with the salt in areas where it wasn't needed. In other words, you're quite right. But but this won't be my last weathered ride, and just like my Gunslinger 57 and Cherry 2000 Mustang, I learned a lot. My next one will be better. Thanks Harry.
  3. Well guys it sure feels good to get one in a case. Let me know whatcha think. This isn't my first weathered ride, but it's the most extensive. I learned a lot. I'd like to go back and redo my other weathered models. Thanks again to Stevens International for the kit and DamnCranky and Ryan Silva for the inspiration. More pics here. http://s53.photobucket.com/albums/g73/Jantrix/37%20Chevy/ Sorry for the lousy pics. And as always while taking pictures I see that I forgot my radiator hoses and licence plate. I'll get those on soon and some better pics. Meanwhile let me know whatcha think, all critiques welcome. There are a few things I don't like (mistakes) but all in all I'm real happy with it.
  4. This is the last update. Tomorrow you'll see this in the Under Glass section. Interior shot only sorry. I finished up the last of the parts assembly last night. All that is left is the final body/interior/chassis assembly and then some more washes and detail painting. The exhaust was a lil challenging to get right but I'm real happy with the results and I think its a great focal point of the piece.
  5. Man this was much easier than I thought. After a lot of great advice. I dipped the black ball into a thin smear of flat white paint = near perfect circle. And a set of old decals gave me the 8. On older decals the decal number (put decal #5 here, etc) are themselves decals. On the newer ones not so, but I still have plenty of old ones. A dip in Future afterward gave me the shine. Very easy. Thanks to everyone for their help.

DOH! Thanks man. I'll let you know what I come up with.

Jairus, is there a website or photo album I can check out to see a bulk of your work? I think I'd like to challenge myself at building one also.
  8. What makes me laugh sometimes is that I'll into that zone and work all Sunday and my wife will come in and say "The mess looks the same as it did this morning. What did you accomplish?" And it'll be true, to the untrained eye, not a lot got done. But the parts I did work on are now "perfect".
  9. You've got a great clean build style. I can't wait to see you with some Bare Metal Foil and some.030 gauge wire for ignition wiring.
  10. Looks like an X brace for the chassis in two pieces. Notches for driveshaft and exhaust.
  11. Call the Blastolene Bros, I wanna see this in 1:1! Great work.
  12. I like that idea! Looking forward to it.
  13. Well gents we now have a CBP forum here. Shall we have Harry move this to that section and just put all of our updates here or just create our own threads in the Workbench section?
  14. The primer looks a little rough. What grit were you sanding with and was it wet or dry?
  15. I have seen exhaust like that lately in a magazine, but only in a rat rod.
  16. Welcome back Marcus.
  17. No that isn't a euphamism for something dirty. I just got some straight pins for a shifter and want to make it an 8 ball knob. I can do the white circle, but how to do the 8 so small escapes me. Any tricks to it? Thanks.
  18. Looking forward to it Mike.
  19. Okay here's my kit. Will be box stock, no added detail. But inca gold instead of that awful yellow. Will be starting soon.
  20. Picked up the AMT 1925 Model T 3n1. A grail for me.

I remember this in red. It looked great. This green paint - not so much. What happened?
  22. I haven't til now, but plan on keeping the box top from now on.
  23. Yeah I wouldn't say it's hard at all, but I do recommend the method using an airbrush like DamnCranky does. I did this with Krylon rattle cans and it was very tough to get all the salt knocked off and I have a little more texture than I think I wanted. Thanks very much. More soon.
  24. Holy Shnikes! Man that's awesome. Love the scales!
  25. It would take me a year with a slowly as I build. Can't wait to see this come to life. I wonder how much you have invested in just kits.
