  1. Paint is Gravity Colors' MB Ice Blue. Good match for the de Rethy car, although here it looks too silver due to differences in the light the pics were taken under.
  2. Making the grille fit.
  3. The Anycubic Photon has produced outstanding results. The grille is very well printed and the 72 spoke Borranis look wonderful. Those spokes are .0017" in diameter.
  4. That car may not be authentic - always a problem with we classics builders from the days of black & white photography.
  5. Silver has a bit more "pop".
  6. It's time to start thinking about the grille design which is unique to this car so nothing in plastic exists for it. I have fired up Sketchup , my CAD design drug of choice and taken a photo of the car from the front, which gives me the oval shape of the grill and position of the vertical and horizontal bars. A photo of the top of the model is loaded in to the software to give me the curve of the front of the car and then I measure from a photo of the side the angle, which is about 11 degrees. Now I have all 3 views - front, top, and side so I can develop the grille design. Below I am working on it. When finished, I will make a copy, Flip that copy and "weld" it to the right half, then add the cavallino rampante to the center. Then print it in my Anycubic Photon 3d printer.
  7. Hood scribe template worked well.
  8. I've drawn the hood on the body so next is to make a template .
  9. Go for it!
  10. More body refining.
  11. I used what is called high density urethane. But it is high density only in relation to styrofoam, it is actually not very dense. The reason that I'm using it is I was never able to find any reasonably priced Renshape on ebay; until recently. I'm now using the Renshape on another project and it's much superior. Don't use this urethane, I've found finger nails will mar the surface.
  12. Frenzel supercharger: https://www.shapeways.com/product/LL4T3QMAD/frenzel-10-23-15-2-125?optionId=65231815&li=marketplace
  13. Refinements.
  14. A light coat of gray primer to sand and refine the body.
  15. Steve McQueen had one: https://www.velocetoday.com/steve-mcqueens-siata/
  16. None in 1/24 -1/25 but very simple to convert using a Cobra. I've looked seriously at it. The track is identical and wheelbase is only 1/2" difference. Rework grille area and add little fins on the rear. Probably some simple body mods. Uses a Fiat 8V engine, which I've already made - see my "The Supersonic has landed" discussion in the On the Workbench section.
  17. Been slowed down but will post soon.
  18. Thanks to all. Those wire wheels are somewhat time consuming but worth the effort.
  19. Merit's a low bar.
  20. Darn it, Andy, you are going to have to get a CAD program, design and 3D print those superfine detailed parts you make. A great high resolution 3D printer like an Anycubic Photon ( I call it the Ford Model T of 3D printers) is down to $300 shipped. Surely you can slip that by the Minister of Finance?
  21. This Duesenberg Rollston Convertible was mastered and cast by Modelmartin. I've built it as the 1994 Pebble Beach best of show winning car. The rims and hubs were designed by me and 3D printed, then the spokes were hand strung.
  22. Never seen this. Very interesting. Lets see more.
  23. Time to make the bumpers. I'm using what is called high density urethane. It's not high density unless you compare it to styrofoam. I have since gotten some renshape which is twice as dense and will be better suited, but a bit harder to work.
