  1. This is where Rat Rodding has progressed to. What's sad is that it looks like it was pretty straight and solid before it was cut up. Shame. Now, if someone would do this with a Prius, I'd be all over it!!
  2. Thanks for the photos everybody, I didn't know so many builders did such great rigs! Keep it up!
  3. Beautiful, love the period colors.
  4. Ditto 2x, Doc. Don't forget to post pics on them, I want to see how they come out! Enjoy.
  5. This is great, I really like seeing all the added little paraphernalia that makes it look like someone is actually using the truck, but stepped out for a quick *ahem* pitstop. Even the colors reflect the 70s taste in earth tones! I can't see for sure - but I wonder if there is a "Good Sam" sticker on the back panel.
  6. Thanks guys, all these responses are interesting to read. I never knew all this about Palmer. It sounds like they were equivalent to the junk toys we find at the dollar stores today. Cheap, throwaway toys that we buy to keep our young kids quiet and content while we get what we need. Makes sense now!
  7. Ooo, a pre-Cobra car. Very interesting idea. What engine are you going to use?
  8. Does anyone know how long Palmer Plastics made model cars? And how they even stayed in business for so many years with such atrocious model kits? "Scale model" was not in their vocabulary. Does anyone even care?
  9. Why not make your own? Camper shapes are easy, it's just a box with a lot of little boxes around it. I'd love to see this built. Scale it to the Revell Silverado, Draw some side profiles on grid paper, Grab some Evergreen sheet plastic and start cutting! Look at what Repstock did with the interior of the GMC Motorhome, none of those details came in the original RV. He built all that from box shapes of sheet plastic.
  10. A happy camper, yes. An RV - eh, no.
  11. Those are awesome! Hope you don't mind I copied and pasted them here for others to see.
  12. That bus is exactly what I wanted to see, I can almost smell the incense from here. The slide out looks good too. Maybe it's time too add an interior to it! Reminds me of a camper I started to scratch build many years ago using the Monogram F350 dually as it's mate, so it's big. I'll have to find that one and post it here. It's not finished, but seeing other projects here might kick start me to finish it.
  13. I love that kit! I have a couple of them.
  14. Has anyone built any fully detailed RVs, Campers, Camper vans or trailers? I've been contemplating building a fully equipped rig using an old Hess Training Van GMC Motorhome that I got on the 'bay years ago. And I need some inspiration. I'd like to see scratch builts, in progress, old kits - whatever you got! Has anybody else gone crazy and built up the GMC Motorhome as a detailed model? Or the MPC Open Road Camper. Or AMT Chevy van Mini Motorhome. Has anyone scratchbuilt a fifth wheeler, over the cab camper, or even a class 3 Winnebago? Whatever you've built - please post it here!
  15. "Yes fire marshall, we offer it in white. What color of white do you want? White, light white, dark white, neutral white, pure white, off white, candy white or clear white?" "And over here we have red...." Can't say that I've ever seen a BLACK fire truck! Either that or it's a super dark green. (might as well be black) Although Grabber Blue looks eye catching, I can't imagine it shouts "Fire, get out of the way!!!" Like red does.
  16. Yes, and send me the extra parts afterwards! LOL?
  17. Bummer, only because I've wanted to use up the Pontiac bodies on this. The Caddy roof looks very similar to the Olds roof, maybe someday I'll find a junker Delta 88 body to make this. (Not likely). Oh well, I could try a station wagon limo with it.
  18. You guys are right! I saw somebody using one and he was using it like a spray gun. That's when it dawned on me, if I'm building everything else in miniature, then my paint jobs need to be in miniature too. Thanks for the advice. I'll get one soon and practice again. The weather's getting warmer anyway, now's the perfect time.
  19. I don't know why so many folks are getting so bent out of shape over this whole language and insult issue, I've been reading these posts since January and I haven't run into that much that I would consider offensive or degrading. In fact, I've found most of the threads to be very respectful, helpful, positive and enlightening. If everyone would just write with the intention that whatever is posted will stay visible forever and not want to be embarrassed in the future - then speak as you would want to be spoken to. Be respectful of other people's opinions as you'd want them to respect yours. A little courtesy goes a long way. Can't we all just get along?
  20. Are you serious? Can't you just find a "clean" way to express your thoughts? Children are able to be on this forum too. Besides the rules clearly say no foul language OR substitute characters. We all can interpret what is being expressed. JUST KEEP IT NICE!
  21. That just looks too real! I especially like the tinted glass.
