  1. Thanks Ron, very appropriate and well said.
  2. Nice! Glad to see another one of these classics being restored. The display piece looks great too! That's my T resto that Casey's link points to. I ended up using two ebay glue bombs to get all the Little T specific parts. I tried the Orange Hauler wheels but you're right, they are too shallow and didn't look right to me. The tires are correct though. Besides that and the Coffin the Don Edmond's sprint car also has the tires you need. You might not know it but this kit and all it's variants are basically the same kit. The front suspension is identical except for the brake backing plates that aren't there. Most of the chrome trim parts are the same too. I did paint my wheels body color because I always liked the look of painted steelies and caps on the Big T so that's what I went for. Here's a link to my build up album: http://public.fotki.com/bigfordpilot/my_built_model_cars/built_models/little-t/ Good luck with your restoration!
  3. Wow! Thanks for all your positive comments! It's great to see that there is some interest out there in the community for this old stuff. I thought this post would would be pounded down to the bottom of page 2 by now!
  4. Thanks. I had to replace the radiator shell, rear spring, top bows, glass and a few other small chrome parts. Other than that it's all original. This kit was handy for that-
  5. Hi all, fresh of the bench is my original issue Red Chariot restoration. I tried to recreate the original build. It looks simple but it sure wasn't easy! Paint is good old Testor's 1203 red, excellent repro decals by Greg Holland. As always comments welcome. Started out with this original issue build, from ebay. Here's what I ended up with. Preserving modeling history one glue bomb at a time.
  6. Thanks for that info Ken. I need to add one(or two or three) of those new issues to my stash.
  7. Beautiful design and craftsmanship. A piece of fine art. Very nice work!
  8. Yes it is, same body, frame, interior and some trim parts.
  9. Up next on my bench continuing on with my vintage box art builds. This will be more of a restoration, sympathetic to the box art. Here's my basic kit, as delivered from ebay. Hard to believe but it was a good deal(cheap} about a year ago. Complete except for the radiator grill. I pulled it all apart and sent some of the chrome out for re plating. Looks good. An outstanding set of repro decals from Greg Holland. Thanks Greg! The stubborn 40 year old decals floated off after a few hours in Westley's Ready to start the resto When finished it should look something like this. My goal is to use a many of the original parts as possible. I picked up one of these to fill in any parts I need (same basic kit). Hoping to preserve a piece of modeling history. I love this stuff!
  10. Hey all. I've been on a vintage box art build kick lately, here's my latest effort. Kind of how I wanted them to look when I glue smeared them together as a kid in '63. I had a lot of fun fitting these together!
  11. Beautiful replica, dead on to the 1:1. Nice job!
  12. I still believe Sprint Cup racing is real.
  13. Moving in to holiday music mode now but favs lately are Beatles pre Rubber Soul.
  14. I really like this one. Great combination of elements..stance, paint, and a masterful mix of custom parts; body work and overall build execution come together to make this one a real stand out. Well done!
  15. Exquisite! You've definately turned a difficult kit to build into a real jewel.
  16. Outstanding paint work! The 'flake and candys look great
  17. LOL...It's a conspiracy...resistance is futile!
  18. Thanls JB, I'm sure it could be done with a lot of slicing and dicing for sure but it won't be easy. It took quit a bit of that to get the body as low as it is now! Yes I do have a Big T kit (latest reissue) but I haven't built it yet.
  19. Thanks Bob...this madness is all your fault !! LOL!
  20. Thanks all for the good words on these builds! I'm Glad these are an inspiration to some. I was inspired a while ago ago by Bob Black's box art '32 Vicky build. To me this style of building is a way of preserving a bit of modeling history and perhaps reliving some of my childhood. It's good to know that others enjoy it too! Stay tuned, there will be more.....
  21. Hi all, I've been on a vintage kit/box art building and parts collecting kick lately. Here are my latest projects, just finished within the last month. For the AMT '32 I tried to stay close to the box image but I left off the mufflers cause they didn't fit right and I like the drag pipe look. This one is a re creation of the Monogram Little T. I gathered the correct back dated parts from two unrestorable auction glue bomb built ups. The recent Good Guys issue Ford T roadster was used for the rest. Repro decals are by Greg Holland. I liked the painted steelie and baby moon look of the Big T better so that's how I went. Hope you all enjoy seeing these as much as I did building them !
  22. Thanks! Good choice on your color! The red one started out as this diecast kit, I built it to be like a retired, auctioned off P71 unmarked unit that a CV enthusiast might have picked up cheap and restored to new condition. Thus the plate 10-7, means out of service. Here's link to the build. http://public.fotki.com/bigfordpilot/my_bu...2k_interceptor/ Looking forward to seeing your build finished. Good work.
  23. I'm a big fan of vintage box art and I've always wanted to do one of these. I dug through my parts stash, found the original first issue parts I needed and dug in using a later issue kit. Here's the look I'm going for: The initial parts layout, Gooche repro decals: I used testor's MF blue in the square bottle thinned and airbrushed. It looks to me like the old Testor's PLA metallic blue: Here's where I am with it now, paint is dry, ready to start assembly So far this has been a lot of fun!
  24. Some real cool and unique builds you have going on there. I especially like the Lincoln Cosmo.
  25. Real nice conversion. Kudos for having the brass to take on a subject like this. I've always and still do think CV's are great cars, but then I'm old and somewhat traditional. I'd leave it without a light bar too...after all, they weren't all squad cars! Nice job. here's a few CV's I built.
