  1. Actually, I stole Clay's avatar!! Kind of... He made his avatar from a copy of a picture I took and sent him of the model I built for him before I posted the pictures on the forum. I then copied his avatar because the one I was using was of the Avanti before it was finished, and I liked the picture of the finished car better. Did anyone follow that?
  2. Cool, Richard!! Thanks for the extra pics!!
  3. Very nice!! I doesn't look like you could have gotten it any lower if you tried!!
  4. Very nice build, Curt!! That's one of my favorite Ferraris!!
  5. Thanks, Bill! I hope to see you in Pleasanton! We'll be there both days. Hey, that avatar looks familiar!
  6. Thanks, Dave! Yeah, that old AMT kit leaves a lot to be desired... Thanks, Brian!! Are you going to the GoodGuys show this weekend? Curt, Jerry and I will be there.
  7. Thanks! Yes, that's the twin Paxton supercharged R5 engine from the kit. I added the oil fill tube and the dipstick from photo references I found on the internet of the R3 engine that the R5 was derived from. I also added an aluminum magneto, the magneto control unit and the master brake system from an AMT '95 ZR-1. Regards,
  8. Harry, What aren't you working in/for Detroit?! They need your vision!! I really like the "look" that you've given to the new Cougar!
  9. Oh yeah!! Everything about this build is right on the money!! I'll send you a PM with my address. I've already made room for this one in my display case! Keep up the great work and the posts!! This is the stuff that keeps me inspired to build more!!
  10. Bernard, You should be a writer for one of our more favored model magazines! Great review!! Yep, I agree with Harry, too!! This one make me want to break out a few of my '37 Fords and get busy on the bench!!
  11. Cool little gasser, Bob!! I don't know how I missed commenting on this one the first time through. I'm an old die-hard Falcon fan from the '60s.
  12. Thanks, Bernard! Yes, but what's more amazing is how well a little undetected superglue on your finger can pull the BMF right back off of the car faster than you put it on!! That wasn't fun at all...luckily, it didn't affect the paint...like my good friend Curt always says, "model building is nothing more than a series of fixing your @#$%-ups" Thanks, Tony!! No, I won't be building cars for anyone else for a while...and I'm pretty sure that Clay's not going to be sharing this one. Later,
  13. Thanks, George!! Yep, I'll have to put a few drops of AV gas in the tank to make sure Clay gets a wiff of real horsepower when he opens the box! Thanks, Michael!! No, I haven't built anything new that you haven't seen. I may bring a few of my Danbury Mint salt flat cars. Curt is bringing the two that he built, so we'll have a little salt flat display going...
  14. Thanks, Clay! I hope that Ani likes it, too! Thanks, Darrell! That's too funny!
  15. Here she is, ready to get loaded in the trailer and head towards the salt flats for a day of some serious speed and fun! Just to be sure, Clay loaded the parachute himself. Time for one last safety check and a listen to the rumble of the twin Paxton supercharged V8 before we go. Oh yeah...everything seems to be in order...time to get moving... This was an interesting build because I only found two really old, poor quality black and white photos of the R5 engine. I had to do a bit of improvising here and there to get this one done. Well, Clay, I hope that you enjoy this one as much as I had fun building it for you. I'll put in the mail after the GoodGuys show next weekend. Later,
  16. I can't say it any better than Ismael did!! Modeling is so much cooler when your family is into it, too!! Regards,
  17. Bernard, I'm sure that there's at least one or two more of those '34 5w bodies out back in the storage yard at Cal Surplus Auto Parts just rusting away back into the ground where they came from. Mark, Bernard wanted to surprise his "surplus supplier" with this build, so they didn't know that he needed different parts from the bin than those that were sent. We're trying to help build up his supply of parts bin goodies!
  18. Here are a few photos of the interior before I button this one up and send it down the flats... I added an Aluminum and photo etched tach to the dash, photo etched pedals and photo etched seat belts (for the driver only). From here, you can also see the parachute release handle that's made from various bits of wire and tubing. The fire extinguisher is from the kit. This shot shows the pedals and the face of the tach pretty well. The stock gauges on the dash are pretty well defined, so I just painted what was there. Well, time for a bit of BMF, a little paint for the interior and this one will be headed "Under Glass". If all goes well, it should be there sometime tomorrow... Later,
  19. Now that there is some seriously funny stuff!! Have you and Bernard been working together to get me to laugh? But, yes, I do like them! This one will look really cool sitting next to your salt flat Stude in a couple of weeks!! Keep up the good work, my young friend!!
  20. On the original '34 5 window coupes, the little pices of sheetmetal in rear of the window opening is there because of the way the window opened. It would first slide back about an inch, almost like an early version of a vent window, before it would begin to roll down. Some guys who have put power windows in their Coupes have removed the feature and the piece of steel in the opening when they change them over to a different system, partially explaining why the box art photo doesn't have it in the picture. Either that or the builder thought it was wrong or maybe just didn't like it and took it out. Who knows??? The 3 window coupes also had this feature, but it's more visible on the 5 window coupe, being a bit more pronounced. Check www.carnut.com for photo references. Regards,
  21. Now that is some seriously funny stuff!! I'm going to have to find that "CalSurplus Auto Parts" store!! I see from your avatar and the markings on the side of the car that it's somewhere "near" where I live!! I'll bet when I get there that they've even got another crate of "goodies" ready to be shipped north!! That sure is a change from your last build!! I'll bet that the blown 421 Poncho really moves that little coupe down the track in a hurry!!! Yep, I'm still laughing!!
  22. Carl, From what I've gathered, the "scam" is to gain someone's trust by asking for some stuff of little value, then later by starting to ask for $$. I, too, am extremely sorry that things are this way, but that's just the reality of how some people are. Personally I don't think that you're one of them, but since we've never met, I have no proof either way. So, plain and simply stated, if you post pics of the models that Milt sent with the kids from the hospital then more models will follow. Period. Regards,
  23. Marcos, That is one hot looking fish!! The headers look awesome!!
  24. Yeah...you're right...there are NO rules when it comes to rats!! If there were, that one on eBay that I sent you the link to wouldn't exist!!
  25. I like the look!! But then my first car was a white '64 Falcon Sprint with reversed chrome wheels and baby moons... That little 289 was pretty tired by the time I got it in '73, but it still got me to school on time everyday!!
