With a pin vice and a good set of micro drills, it really is a easy job
-
This one was commissioned 9 weeks ago, I got it finished 3 weeks under the time I had originally quoted, as the customer asked if it was possible to get it finished for June 15th, which over here is fathers day, it was painted in the original BMC colours of Fiesta yellow with an Old English White roof, the interior was done in the original colours of powder blue and light grey, the wheels were drilled out, just like the original Cooper wheels, and a couple of front spot lights were added to the grille, which the real car I was modelling had.

This one is now finished and posted in the "Under Glass" section, it will be delivered to the customer this week

Looking forward to seeing more on this build, I built one last year, for the brass, I stripped off the chrome and used alclad brass
-
I'll have a look in my spares box, I'm sure I've got a set somewhere
-
No need for that, I have no use for it .....
-
Superb build, I think the roof down was the right choice ...
-
Very nice build, I'll get round to building mine one day ....
-
If you need a new deal for the front licence plate, let me know, I still have those left over from the Revell Mini I built last year.

Now that's one stunning model ....

Revell (Germany) Mini Cooper 1964 Monte Carlo Rally Winner Review
GeeBee replied to Duntov's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Not 100% true, you can't use this kit to make a stock Cooper, no stock front grille and bumper, it does have the 9 hole Cooper wheels but it has no hubcaps, as the rally car didn't have them fitted, the front seats are not the factory items either, and the dash panel they give you is totally incorrect for the rally version -
Looking good, I've only ever painted one model in black, and your right, it shows every little fault in the paint, not sure I want to do another ...
-
It's a very hard colour to photograph, do a search for Fiesta Yellow Mini, and you'll see so many different looking yellows' , this is the most realistic photo I have of one.

Work is coming to an end on the one, just the roof to fit' plus the chrome parts, plus door and boot handles, plus front & rear lights and afew small parts, then it will be off to iit's new home....
-
Very nice build Shay' these cars were from the good times in F1, I remember it well when they were racing them for real...
-
Stunning work ....
-
They were built there from 1960 until 1980' they had what they badged as a 3CV, which unlike 2CV,s built elsewhere, had a hatchback design
-
Glad it arrived o.k' your doing great work on this Porsche ...
-
Strange Ebbro are showing an earlier Renault 4 on the box art when the model is a later version ....

Sorry for not updating this post until now, although I'm taking photo's of the build, when I'm doing a commission build I need to Project manage the build much better than if I'm building for myself otherwise I tend to get behind on the build, got quite a bit done to it over the last few weeks, and there really isn't that many parts left on the bench to get fixed on. The interior has been flocked and the seats painted in the two tone that the Mk1 Coopers had, for the powder blue I used artists paint thinned with Testors acrylic thinners so it could be airbrushed The engine & gearbox is 99% finished, the customer didn't want any super detail done on it, so I didn't take the time to wire it up Wheels were drilled out and painted in Old English White, looks better than just picking out the hole detail using matt black paint Rear sub frame painted and fitted Inner door panel painted and detailed As the real Mini that I'm making a replica of has a Motalita wooden steering wheel, I did the same with the model, the spokes were drilled out as well

Welcome Aboard ....

Me too, but what I'm seeing here is truly amazing, you must have a very steady hand and 20/20 vision ....

Yes, those are lights for the roof, a police version will be on the cards very soon -
Too many projects going on.
GeeBee replied to Ramfins59's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Usually I only work on one project at a time, but I have 3 on the backburner while I carry on with the Tamiya Mini Cooper that I'm building for Commission, then I need to crack on with the Revell VW Beetle, which is for the Tamiya International magazine ....
