  1. Back in the early 90's I fly from London to Des Moines, Iowa for a 3 day R/C aircraft show .... it was that good I went back the next year, but stayed a little longer and travelled around for a while, the trip down the London took me about 1 1/2 hours, the flight to Minneapolis took about 7 1/2 hours then the flight to Des Moines took just under an hour .... so around 10 hours all round
  2. It's usually due to the fact that the importers doesn't want to bring the products in, we can't get the Tamiya enamel paints over here either, years ago I wanted a filter case that Nikon makes, but Nikon U.K doesn't import these items, I managed to pick one up in New York while I was over there .....so it seems different countries have different products
  3. Cleaned up the tyres, they seemed to have a dusty white coating on them, a little warm water and washing up liquid got them looking like rubber, compared to the original silver colour them came in, I think they look much better with the Tamiya TS-30 silver leaf
  4. You can't get in the U.K either, which is why I had to order it from Hong Kong ....
  5. Reading on some military model forums, it's enamel based .....
  6. I have some Tamiya Panel Line Accent color on order from eBay, never tried it before, so lets see how it turns out ....
  7. Put on another coat of wax this morning, the body has now been put away in a sealed container for safety, the wheel were sprayed using Tamiya TS-50 Silver leaf decanted and used through the airbrush
  8. The paint turned out real nice this time, I really should have used my Paasche VL-S ages ago ....
  9. 3 tins of paint, one for the 356 I'm building at the moment, and the other 2 for my next 2 builds, (Fiat 500 & Porsche 911 GT3) and an email off HLJ saying my Ebbro 2CV Fourgonette is on it's way ....
  10. Polishing finished and a coat of wax added
  11. After wet sanding with 3600, 4000 and 6000 grade wet & dry, the polishing started with Micro Gloss liquid abrasive, it will now been polished using various auto polishes
  12. The paint for the body arrived this morning, so it was straight in the hobby room for me, usually when I paint my bodies, I use my Paasche H airbrush, but I have had the VL-S in my toolbox for a few years now and never got round to using it, however I had heard that I would get a better finish on my bodies using the VL, and they were not wrong, using the #3 needle set up the paint went on a lot smoother, and doesn't need too much wet sanding. Body being wet sanded
  13. Interior was airbrushed in a mix of three shades of Humbrol enamels
  14. Got the body, engine cover and luggage compartment in primer, and chassis in gloss black and quite a few of the smaller bit painted in alclad aluminium,
  15. I think a lot of people this side of the pond would disagree with that Harry .....
  16. Got a bit more done today, this is the first model I have built that comes with a crankshaft and piston to be fitted, the parts will be airbrsuhed in different shades of gloss black, silver and steel before they are all fitted together
  17. I've only bought there pre-wired distributors, and they are top quality, much get some more, as I've just used the last one on the Morgan 4/4 that has been put on the backburner due to missing/broken parts
  18. I got quite a bit done to this yesterday, so far the parts fit is very good, it's a good job I have a good supply of spring clamps ... The door panels need to be drilled out for the door handles and window winder handles, as they use the same parts for the Speedster model, which doesn't have winding windows or even a pull handle fitted The instructions tell you to put the fuel tank in at this stage, but it will left out until it is painted, as the interior of the luggage compartment needs to be done in satin black, while the tank needs to be done in gloss black.
  19. Your builds are just out of this world, and this one's looking to be a really interesting build, you have my attention ....
  20. Thanks for the head's up, there certainly is a lot of plastic parts in the box, and yes, I think your right, I will be kept busy for a while on this build ...I'm going to order the paint next week, going to be doing it in Smyrna Green with a tan interior
  21. Won this on eBay, it finally arrived this morning, with the windshield frame broken, I'm pleased that it wasn't as bad as the 911 I built not long ago, but still a PITA, but a bit of cyano' and after it had dried up sanded it and reshaped the frame and re-did the panel line in the trim that will be done in BMF after the body has been painted. Windshield Frame Repaired The body was covered in mold lines, on top of the front wings, around the rear wings and along to front panel, I spent around 30 minutes with a coarse sanding stick, floowed by a medium foam sanding block, I finally got them sorted Body sorted The build starts with the floorpan, and side panels, pretty much like building the real thing, there's a lot of parts in the kit, way more than the Fujimi 911 kit, but I'm sure I'll get though them all ... It is all clamped up and will be left overnight to dry out ....
  22. What was you expecting ??? The Fujimi 356 Speedster showed up this morning, oh my god, there's a hell of a lot of parts in the box !!
  23. Well we've all made those stupid mistakes, but all I can say is, if my models were coming out like this when I was 15 I would have been a very happy bunny, the Revell Charger is a nice kit, but it does have a few problems .... you've done the model proud.
  24. I'm pleased to be an inspiration, it really is a superb kit to put together, because it was a new kit to me, I dry fitted everything before committing it to glue, but there was no need for it, next one I build I simply won't be bothered to do it, I've got 2 more of these in the stash, but the only Cooper colour I haven't done yet is Smoke Grey with the OEW roof.
