One thing that I liked on the Tamiya Citroen 2cv was the working suspension, sadly over time the springs go weak, and you end up with a 2cv that's stuck in the weeds, after doing my monthly dusting in the display cabinet, I just couldn't leave it alone any longer, some epoxy resin applied to the suspension arms and glued them in the raised position, now it looks move like a 2cv, it looked really bad as it's displayed next to the Revell version.

Dealer List is now Available
GeeBee replied to Dave Ambrose's topic in Model Cars Magazine News and Discussions
MCM wasn't distributed in the UK before, so it's no surprise that no dealers are listed, it's really up to W.H Smiths if the want to carry a product, best thing is to email them to see if there interested in carrying it customer.relations@whsmith.co.uk -
Heller ferguson FF-30

With my airbrushing being held up until I get the new workshop finished, I'm going to do a little resin casting, the first part will be the fuel bowl and tap for the Heller Ferguson Tractors, the kit comes with it moulded in grey plastic, in real life there metal and of course glass for the bowl, I'm going to cast them on clear resin and then paint the metal parts, I've seen them in brass as well, so not sure which metal finish I'm going to go with. -

Like they did for the Heller Citroen H van, Motobitz will be doing a good selection of decal sets for this one -
Superb build, these AMT models are a pleasure to build.

Airbrushing is on hold until I get the new workshop finished, hopefully I'll be back on it very soon

Superb build and very realistic, put in a different background you'd think these were the real deal. -
Very nice build, I built the Tamiya Beetle a few years ago, it took me ages to get that centre beltline trim done in Bare Metal foil, not the easiest thing to do for sure.

Painting embossed hub cap logos
GeeBee replied to Chevy II's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I did mine pretty much the way Bill mentioned, although I used a 10/0 artist brush, picked up the paint on the brush and let capillary action do the job. -
The only Gunze Sangyo kit I've built was the Austin frogeye sprite, that had vinyl seats and side panels, certainty not the easiest things to glue. The Tamiya Fiat 500 used to be picked up for around £15-18, now when they do pop up on eBay they go for way over £40.

Started on the engine, boy this thing is tiny, glued the three parts of the exhaust together, after using the engine block to get everything lined up.
-
Door panels are present and correct, you sure it was the Tamiya version you built? I know the Gunze Sangyo Fiat 500D didn't come with them.

Very nice Tom, I only built the odd model kit when I was growing up, usually during our annual 3 days of rain and a few days of sandstorms when you just couldn't leave the house, I was more into collecting die-cast models, the rest of the year the weather was so nice, i just didn't spent much time in the house. I started building model cars when I moved to England after leaving school at 15, then I had a little extra money to spend, popped into Birmingham, back then there was a few good model shops, now we have non, I really wish I'd still got some of my old models, but back then Mom was a gold medalist at knocking my models off the shelf when she was doing the dusting, you can only glue them back together so many times.

I used Alclad brass on my Stutz Bearcat, the finish ended up looking like brass that hadn't been polished for a while, I've got the Revell Ford Model T to build soon, I'm going to use Mr Color brass on it, you don't need a black base and once it has dried you can buff if to the shine you want, it can be sealed using their clearcoat to protect the finish.

Looks like I'm going with the tan interior, I've never been a fan of black interiors, growing up in Southern Spain, the last thing you would have wanted would be black vinyl seats to burn the back of your legs on, our Seat 124 was beige with a tan interior. For a while Dad owned a British registered Ford Consul GT, ex police, white bodywork with a black vinyl interior, totally impossible to sit in it after it was parked up for a while, which is why it got sold on.

I'm pretty sure that the steering wheel and gauge surround were all white on the 500F, the steering wheel on that photo looks like it's off a later 500L, they probably painted the surround to match the wheel

MCM Relaunch Update 11/6/2020

I'd be very surprised if Smiths carry it, they stopped stocking Scale Auto a long time ago, and due to their financial problems more stores will be closing across the UK. -
Cracking build

I've never been inside one, we did have to borrow a Seat 133 when our Seat 124 had to go into the garage, that was small enough, they were built on the chassis and running gear of the older Seat 850, bigger than a Fiat 500, but I wouldn't want to spend more time in it than we had to
