"Holy Grail" Models?
Jeff Johnston replied to Billy Kingsley's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
well..I got 2 grails this year. An unbuilt AMT 1967 Galaxie and another 1/20 scale Bandai Fiat X 1/9 I bought probably 10 kits this year, and received a couple as gifts. Funny how people think is too many kits LOL. I have about 40 unbuilt kit..or kits in partially built or restorable condition. That's enough for me right now. Of the 40 there are a few that I may never build (like a woody)...but most I will build. Also, I'm kinda wierd because I eventually sell my build ups. There are a few I'd never sell. But, as times goes by, I will sell a bunch of builts to make room for something new. I get more of a kick out of the building process I guess. Don't get me wrong, I love to display them, and I always have 20 or 30 on the shelf. But eventually I will sell them on ebay to be replaced with something new. -

Taking pictures of your models
Jeff Johnston replied to Jairus's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
Here is what I do...and I learned this from a post on another board. All the parts were put together for under 20 bucks. Cardboard box Desk lights tissue paper colored thin cardboard Here is the result...this is just my Sony dig camera with macro mode and no flash. I am able to photoshop it a bit better, but this is the raw results with no photoshop. Here is the picture I took before the box, taken in indirect sunlight and photoshopped. -
Here is my start....rethinking what I am going to do with teh handlebars. I like what JT did below with his... I have to sand and polish the frame though..lots of orange peel LOL

oh man MJ that looks soooooooooooo soooooooooo good !!!!!! -
I agree. I happen to be a Model Car World customer...He sells fantastic products. He will even mix custom colors (Such as Pantera Orange - which is the actual factory formula). http://ourworld.cs.com/mcwautofinishes/paint/catalog.html His service is as outstaning as the product. I have friends who swear by Rainbow. There is also a guy named Gary Branik who has a company called "Kustom Kolours". I used to buy from him at NNL east. Another great product...though he has no web site. I wonder if anyone else buys from him. kustomkolours@comcast.net

New Pics of an older Build up...
Jeff Johnston replied to Jeff Johnston's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Bill, Yes that is a light blue background. The other side of the board is dark blue. I got it at Wal Mart for 50 cents or so. -
Yes I do John and it looked every bit as good as any lacquer paint job I've seen. My problem is that I am not that good at enamels LOL I think it has to do with my lack of patience on the drying time HAHAHA...(oh and the orange peel I get lol) Your Packlard is beautiful. Post pics for everyone to see..it is a wonderful color combo and soooo shiny !!
