Jeff Johnston replied to crispy's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I'll be building the Formula using the Reliable Resin formula hood...might bave to build 2 LOL -
Thanks Guys. Dag the decals do come with the model. Tom. the color is actualy a NYC brand nail polish color..straight fomr Wal-Mart :-) about 2 bucks per bottle LOL

I'm loving these chopper kits ! Made my own exhaust from solder.
-
Too bad there is not a better kit of this car. Though I did have a good time building it. Pained duplicolor with urethane clear. Made the white walls with my drafting kit (ebay 2 bucks lol). This is an old metal axle model with the exhaust, driveshaft and rear axle molded into the kit. Oh well..it was fun to build and I am pretty happy wit the resuilts, givren what I had to work with.

That is one of the coolest models I've seen in a long time. I've often thought about making a convertible, and always "chickened out". Because like you said, it's a heck of a lot of work. Now I may be inspired again to try it after all. The fact that your is painted Lime Gold is an added plus ! IMHO the best Mustang - Ford color they ever made ! Did you have to fabricate the entire rear deck ? How'd you take it from how its "Raked" Sportsroof, to being correctly flat for the convertible ?? I actually have a 1:1 69 Sportsroof...I agree with Bob that the Revell kit is totally wrong in the front...I don't know how you botch that up. Other than that, the kit is fabulous. But every time I look at the front of the Revell I built, I shake my head... Jeff

I agree whole heaqrtedly. I am not typically a Monte Carlo guy (like them but noy my fave)...but this one is just really dead on beautiful ! The solid dark green with the white walls on Rally's looks just perfect ! Very nice !!!

'40 Ford project, updated 8-19 with new progress photo
Jeff Johnston replied to bluemoose's topic in WIP: Model Cars
unbelieveable again..... Big ole drool mark now on my keyboard... Funny thing is I'm not even into that era of car and I still love how you make it look.. -
I finished this one a while back but never posted it yet. Finished maybe 2 - 3 weeks ago. Its the Revell kit, which was fantastic...built factory stock, and painted with MCW Emerald Turquiose Mettalic. I need to buy another kit as I really enjoyed this one.

1979 Ford F150 Pickup (not camper special)update 08-22-2006

You have the knack, like nobody else, to bring old beat up kits back to showroom condition !!! -
Heads up in Wally World model section
Jeff Johnston replied to Wildrice's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I looked in my Wal Mart the other day and they only had the painted ones. I'd like to see a primer body as I'm more into building than buying prebuilt. I'd plan to do a mainstreamer gremlin as well. -
This was a fun one. Painted MCW Pantera Orange. If I had a 1:1 dream car (and I do LOL), this would be number one or two...either just before, or just after a lime gold 67 Shelby..depends on the day which one I want worse :-)

THat is absolutely beautiful !! Perfect factory stock car...I love it !!!

Little things make a BIG difference: Ferrari 308 progress
Jeff Johnston replied to ismaelg's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Good deal Ismael. I almost picked up a Testors 308 recently. Looking back I don't know why I didn't. Guess I had the gee "I have way too many models and I don't need another" syndrome...now I wish I'd have gotten it. Oh...but I did buy a little Aurora 1/32 scale MGB while I was there (for 6 bucks) LOL Full engine detail and all ! -
James...I uses to make the same plea !! Someone over at another board told me that the 67 and 68 Galaxie molds are long gone. This is really too bad...I guess in those days they'd reuse some of the mold fom year to year on the annual kits. So some of the old molds were partially destroyed to make the next year annual...where some of the parts were actually reused. I might have that wrong a bit but what I have correct is that I wish they'd re-tool some the 67-68 galaxies and a dozen other kits from the past !

OOOH I'm liking that one. I'm liking that one a lot !!! Can I borrow your model genie ? LOL

New Member Checking in
Jeff Johnston replied to Italianhorses's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Hey Alex it's great to see you here ! Welcome !!! (you know me as avj97 on BMC) -
I travel abit for work, and most times when I am away I check the yellow pages for Hobby Shops. Most of the time I strike out (meaning low on models heavy on RC)...but sometimes I find a place worth mentioning..like this past week. I drove 5 hours to Utica, NY for a "work thing". Anyway, I checked the yellow pages to see if there were any shops to check out. Turns out there was a model car shop about a mile from where I was working. The place is called Uptown Automotive, and it's at 2007 Genessee St. in Utica NY. Folks..this place is a gold mine. It's a small place, but jam packed with all kinds of kits old and new. AND...the prices are extremely reasonable (even for the old stuff). The kits are all sorted by type..meaning there is a pontiac secion, and a Ferrari section, and a pickup section, etc...very easy to find what you are looking for. THere is a lot packed neatly into this little place. ! I could not believe how many old kits he had. Plus resin, drawers and drawers of parts and bodies. Some of the resin stuff is casted by the owner. Plus a lot of die cast of every scale. The best part was the conversation. The owner, who I think is called "Jim", is a very friendly guy. His web site is http://www.uptown-automotive.com/ It's not up to date but thte phone number is. open noon to 6 weekdays..I can not remember the weekend hours. I am disappointed I won't be back in that area for some time...but I have his number now, and now I have yet another place to call on my search for "whatever" I'm looking for. He's likely going otbe my first call next time I am "searching"... If your in the area make sure to check it out.

"frolicking"... ?? Uh....oh never mind. I don't wanna get banned. LOL HAHAHAHA

LOL MJ !!! I really think that you have all the old 67 Galaxies in your basement. Nice work on that one. Every time I see you with another 67 Galaxie I laugh ( or cry lol) because I can never seem to score even one...except for the one Albert sent me and the R&R kit I got at NNL east... For those of you reading this post and don't know MJ.....I think he has a genie that makes original 67 and 68 Galaxies, and 66-69 Falcons for him.... :-)

Good to see you Dave. I can pronounce your last name. LOL My wife is a Carnevale..or I should say, her Grandparents are named Carnevale...so she's half Italian and half French Canadian...
