Hertz Mustang decals?
Jeff Johnston replied to Aaronw's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
The easiest way would be to paint the stripes. Meaning paint the gold first, and tape it off. You could do the side stripe as well, save the hertz lettering. PSF hobbies sells the New Hertz Shelby style hood in resin. 6 bucks. http://www.psfhobbies.com -
Hobby Heaven closed

I could not agree with that statement more. Used to be (way before my time) they put ads in magazins...they actually marketed thier product. With Wal Mart not planning to sell kits, they'd better figure out how to sell thier products again. Everybody on the planet knows what Coca-Cola is...yet Coca-Cola still advertizes thier products...and heavily at that. It's the same for a sloo of other products that like Coke and Pepsi, we'd all continue to buy even if we never saw another ad. If model companies fail to actually market and sell thier products, they will not survive. At least not in the same capacity that they do now (not even close). I don't even think it marketing to the younger generation. Youger people are not into this stuff....I don't think its nessesarily video games because ther are plenty of Artistic kids out there who will spend hours drawing. I don't know what it is, but you'd think the model companies would..its their business after all. I did not buy a lot from HH, and I guess I feel a little sad that I didn't support Tom more than I did. It's s sign f the times. I have to finally believe the hobby is really changing. It's sad to see. -
Now that's what I am talking about !! LOL I really like that a lot....they shoulda' coulda' made a 69 GT-CS...and it might have looked something like this one.

Hey MJ that's looking great. 68 is my favorite year chevelle !!

1/43 scale ????? Dang....that's incredible. Looks so detailed that is could pass for 1/8 scale ! LOL or 1:1 for that matter !!

Yes Bill this is a long lost one LOL..and i have another one completely unbuilt ! I am still deciding on color. I never liked the stock "sub-lime"ish" color of the early X 1/9's. I bought a 74' in April 1982. The brown car is exactly my car. I also threw a timing belt !! Actually...it was a water pump belt. The water pump and timing belts drove off the same belt wheel...so when the water pump belt broke, it got under the timing belt and flipped it off... Since it was an overhead cam....the valves stopped but the pistons did not...and yes the pistons whacked up into the valves on 2 cylinders, and I had no compression. 500 bucks and 2 months later it was fixed, with a rebuilt head...at 17 it took a while to earn 500 bucks LOL I am told that the later year fiat's put indentations in the pistons to prevent whacking into the valves...I guess that was easier than fixing the real problem LOL I think I will paint blood red, or a deep maroon. We'll see what strikes me at the time.

I got this a while back and painted it like my first car....I recently have decided to stip off the TEstores Enamel paint and do it over. Here is the progress so far. This is the 1/20 scale Bandai kit with the engine. I also have a curbside Bandia kit for "someday".... Started like this. Now it looks like this.

I paint every project in my garage. That is where I have my airbrush and compressor (on my work bench that is now a paint bench LOL). I use a few portable fluorescent lights to light the bench. What I do is crack both doors about 3 feet (in winter) or open one of them up all together when it's warm. I ALWAYS wear a gas mask when I airbrush. If I am just laying down a quick rattle can primer or something, I usually don't bother.
-
Isn't that funny...I love it. Actually, it's funny because I was just thinking last night that my next project will be a Grabber Orange Twister 70 Torino LOL... I will still do it and my plans are to use dog dish caps on steelie wheels painted the body color.

Yeah he has a bunch of stuff for 5 bucks...and not ######. Descent REvell and AMT kits..like the 69 CAmaro (revell). That is one I've not built in years, and remember it to be a great kit...one of the best. At 5 bucks I think I'll order a coupe and a convertible, plus a crusader choppper....all for under 25 bucks delivered LOL -

Dang I go away for vacation and everything changes LOL I like it... -
We've all been there brother ! FO me it was always building an old faithful lit...liek an MPC vette. SOmethign I have built a hundred times.. Try the Revell Chippers...they are a blast, easy to build and fast to get done...you can spend a lot of time, or paint it and throw it together. Give it a whirl..
-
Thaks for the comments guys. Matt. Believe it or not, I use an inexpensive Fufi dig camera with macro-mode, and a photo box set up that costs less tham 20 bucks to make. This is the photo box...

This is the Revello-Gram kit painted Tamiya Silver (spray can) and testors Black Lacquer (airbrished). The red stripe is vinyl, and I clear over it with urethane 2 part clear. The kit is OK.. I like the MPC better as it seems to have a little better bit and finish. Though, It's been a while since I buit one (back 20 years ago I only built MPC Corvettes LOL With white background

Holy ###### how'd I miss that one ! Looks fantastic !
-
I did a Dino in almost the exact same color. I love a Red Ferrari, but it's nice to see a different color too. Very nice work on that kit. Very nice indeed !
-
Very nice work as always Ismael. I love the Cayman body style... now I want to see a Z4 kit ... I'd but at least a few of those ! LOL
