Oh my... Someone HAD the same idea as I had! Nicely done, Jason. Paint looks very smooth and I just love those wheels!

Thanks, Jason. I imagined that the owner of the original sedan had the same idea as I had. He saw a picture of his own car in a magazine and wants to build it as a model car, so he bought the Monogram kit

In 2014, I found this picture of a ´37 Ford Sedan in an older issue of Rod & Custom Magazine: It inspired me to build my Monogram sedan in that style. I couldn´t find any more photos or information about the car, so I added a few personal touches. Like the original it was lowered, shaved, nosed and sits on 19“ custom rims (Pegasus „Daggers“ in this case). A chrome trim bar was added to the smoothed and molded running boards, the rear view mirror was found in my parts box. Exhaust tips were made from copper tubing and I frenched a scratch built license plate into the deck lid. I used the dash board of Revell´s ´37 Roadster and flocked the Interior. Just a little gag: on the front passenger side seat you can find the original Monogram kit box and the issue of R&C in which I found the picture of the sedan: Hope you like it, thanks for looking

1967 Pontiac GTO/Monkey Mobile - What if...
Koellefornia Kid replied to Koellefornia Kid's topic in Model Cars
Thanks for all those comments, I´m happy you all like it! Wasn´t too sure if this build was accommodating to other people... A few weeks ago I saw a ´65 Bonneville built as a leadsled with the monkee front end sold on ebay. Has anyone pictures of other conversions of the Monkee Mobile? Feel free to post them here! I think it has a lot of potential for wild customizing and I would like to see what other modelers had in mind. Greetings from Germany -
Nice color combo! Different, but nice!

Awesome paint job and beautiful color!

I like both of them! Maybe its because I owned cars of both worlds during the past 20 years. In th early ´00 years I owned an old Mercedes Benz W123 200d and my father in law gave me his 280 SEL as a marriage gift. Both were "road pillows", very comfortable on longer trips, 100% stock and in nearly mint condition. I also had a ´91 Saab Turbo Aero, equipped with an intercooler, 18" wheels and a very sporty suspension (a true rocket, maybe not very healthy for my spine). I used all of them as daily drivers and had a lot of fun with them. I think there´s no accounting for taste. If I would be asked to choose one of them, I´d say: "I want both!"

Did anyone consider to combine the body styling of Dean Jeffries´ Monkey Mobile with the classic roof lines of a ´67 GTO hardtop? I thought that might look cool, so I kitbashed AMT´s GTO and Monkey Mobile kits. I wanted it low down, with large diameter wheels and, in contrast to the fake one of the Monkey Mobile, with a functional blower. Everything beneath the beltline, front and rear is Monkey Mobile material, the interior tub, roof and half of the trunk section came from the GTO. Wheels are Pegasus Diablos. Thanks for looking, comments welcome Greetings from Germany

I love those AMCs, too. Already built a Gremlin and a Pacer but I can´t wait to get my hands on an AMX. The green paint job looks very nice!

Looks very cool! Like those headers! -
Thanks a lot. Paint is Testors Jade Green enamel paint, sprayed over VW Chrystal Silver (rattle can).

Hi guys, today I want to show you one of my Lowrider projects, built in 2013. I wanted to do something different than the usual Impalas from the ´60s (though I like them very much!), so I used AMT´s 1957 Bel Air Sport Coupe. The build features: wired engine, flocked interior, scratch built chain steering wheel, photo- etched club plaque, scratchbuilt fuzzy dices, lowered suspension, Pegasus wire wheels, cut out deck lid with scratch built hinges, scratch built trunk, Pegasus hydraulic pumps and batteries. Painted in Jade Green and Chrystal Silver. Called this one „The Jade Buddha“. Thanks for looking, comments welcome. Greetings from Germany

In 2011,that was my first try of replicating a custom car that really exists in scale. The original is Billy F. Gibbons´ 1950 Ford phantom 3-window coupe called Kopperhed, built by Pete Chapouris. I used AMT´s 49 Ford for my model of that beautyful custom rod. I chopped the Top 2 scale inches, lowered the body, extended the doors, slanted the B-pillars and filled the rear quarter windows. Then I removed the bumper guards and rechromed with BMF. A ´56 Ford steering wheel was added to interior and on the passenger side of the seat bench I placed two issues of the Custom Rodder and Rod & Custom magazines, which both featured the Koppperhed in 1996. Under the hood I swapped the flathead for ´55 Thunderbird Y-block with triple carbs, according to the original car. Hope you like it Greetings from Germany

Thanks Patrick, I spent my teenage years in the 1990s so I was very much influenced by the cars of the Boyd Coddington-era. You´re right, they´re dated but I still like them. The Cadzzilla is definitely on my to-do-list.

Ooooh... I´d love to play with one of those Matador kits!

Love those Centerliners! Gives it a mean look and a nice stance.

I found this kit in 2011 on ebay and got it for incredible 15 Bucks. Thought it was a nice bargain but when I opened it I was a bit disappointed: It was custom only kit with no stock parts in it. Eeven worse: literally none of the parts would fit to another. Maybe this was the worst kit I ever had. I had to use a lot of putty to mold the front and the rear roll pan to the body and to fill the huge gaps in the engine bay which is partially scratch built. Done with that, I decided to customize it a bit more. Used a ´65 El Camino custom grille at the front and scratch built custom taillights from red clear sprue. Exhaust tips were made of small diameter copper tubes, the gas cap came from a Mustang Mach III kit. I mounted 19“ Aoshima wheels to the lowered suspension and filled the engine bay with a Corvette ZR1 power plant. Zhe interior was equipped with a LeCarra steering wheel, Ford Taurus front seats and a resin amplifier and speakers. Thanks for looking, comments welcome

The Impala looks a lot better with the Bubble top than the T-Bird! Well done, love the color!
