´40 Ford Custom - Bill Cushenberry´s "El Matador"
Koellefornia Kid replied to Koellefornia Kid's topic in Model Cars
No, there was no glass included. I used the clear cover from a loose-leaf-binder/folder to make the glass -
Hi guys, the AMC Gremlin I built in 2012 spent a lonely life in my display case, being the only compact car in there. In 2015, I thought: let´s build him a „brother“. I purchased an MPC (Round 2) 1978 AMC Pacer X kit and kitbashed it with AMT´s ´06 Chevy Camaro. The Camaro donored it´s wheels, seats, center console, steering wheel, engine, lower front pan, gas cap and the rear diffuser including the exhaust tips. Extra parts I added: ´90s Mustang mirrors, bumperettes, scratch built fuzzy dices, speakers in the door panels, NOS bottle in the flocked trunk and an additional exhaust pipe under the frame. I had to cut the in halves (at the height of the bumperettes) and insert a strip of styrene before gluing it back together to enlarge the wheel wells and to tunnelt he frame, otherwise the Camaro wheels and the front and rear parts wouldn´t fit. The last picture shows it with it´s older brother, the Gremlin. Hope you like my little goldfish bowl. Thanks for looking, comments are always welcome.

´40 Ford Custom - Bill Cushenberry´s "El Matador"
Koellefornia Kid replied to Koellefornia Kid's topic in Model Cars
Thanks a lot, guys! Was a challenging build but I had a lot of fun with it! I´d love to build a model of Bill´s "Marquis" ( my personal favorite Cushenberry-Build). There´s a Marquis grille in the AMT grilles and bumpers parts pack and I have a ´56 Ford kit but I´m anxious to do that. That would be a real challenge Maybe some day... -
In late 2014, I found this resin kit ( Star Models I think?) of Bill Cushenberry´s El Matador on eBay and got it for a good price. Quite a good kit, but it needed some work. It had several bubbles and two of the bumperettes were missing. I completed the kit with a lot of parts from my parts box: two bumperettes of unknown origin, taillights and headlight lenses, a modified steering wheel, frame and chassis (remnants from my ´36 Ford roadster), Pegasus chrome reversed rims and tires. Many other parts were scratchbuilt: front grille, fender grilles, license plate and the dual exhaust system. Engine is a resin cast Nailhead from AMT´s ´40 Ford as well as the radiator (I cast them because I wanted to keep the Ford kit complete). Have a look: My collection of iconic Rods and Customs so far: Thanks for watching! What do you think?

The V-16 was a great idea! Looks good! -
Jesus, I see some very nice work here! I would definitely like to see the ´40 Ford with the LaSalle grille finished, it looks awesome! I also like the slanted B-pillars on the ´49 Merc from the very first picture. I tried to chop a Merc like that 25 years ago: I want to rework that one, some day...

Turned out geat! A very nice looking Rod!

I must confess that I was a little bit skeptic about it when I saw the WIP, but I was wrong, it´s beautiful!

Homerun! You really nailed the Hot Wheels-look on this one!

Hi modelers, today, I want to show my Monogram ´57 Chevy Nomad Custom. I shaved all handles, emblems and most oft he trim, removed the hood ornaments and smoothed the peaks. I scratch built a custom bullet grille by using bearing balls of two different sizes. The Chevy was lowered and sits on custom wheels borrowed from a Jada die cast. The interior features a wooden floor in the rear and scratchbuilt Fuzzy Dices. I also tried to replicat a tuck´n´roll upholstery, using half round Evergreen styrene profiles. The wired engine was topped with a resin Cadillac air cleaner. A set of Appleton spot lights from my parts box and a scratch built club plaque completes the traditional custom look. Enjoy: Comments welcome. Greetings from Germany

I like the looks of this one! Gotta have to try the bubbles, too.

That looks very cool!

Very nicely done and awesome detail work! Unfortunately, I´m over 6 feet tall, so I just won´t fit into a real one, but I guess taking a ride in such a pocket rocket would be fun!

1936 Ford 5W Coupe - James Hetfield´s "Iron Fist"
Koellefornia Kid replied to Koellefornia Kid's topic in Model Cars
Yes it´s the Pontiac. I think there´s is Chevy in the original but I didn´t have one at hands when I built it in 2014. That´s right! I want to build some more of his cars in times to come... Commercial or not, I think they make great music! I seen them at Rock am Ring Festival in 2006. They performed the complete Master Of Puppets album for its 20th anniversary. At least 2 hours on stage, that was a great gig! -
´33 Ford 3W Coupe - Billy F. Gibbons´ Eliminator

Thanks again! The dash board had some scratches with a big one right over the instrument cluster (it was second hand kit). I sanded off the instruments and used a MCG PE-part instead. -
Very nice work on the hinges!

Hi guys, here is another one from my Famous Rods And Customs collection: „The Iron Fist“, built by Blue Collar Customs for Metallica´s lead singer James Hetfield. Here ist he original: And my scale model version: I used AMT´s ´36 Ford 5W kit and a chopped Flintstone resin body. The model features: custom grille with MCG pe-insert, smoothed running boards, smoothed hood, ´34 Ford side louvers, resin bullet head lights and wheels from thepartsbox (Australia), lowered suspension, scratch built taillights and license plate with MCG frame, scratch built carburator intakes and wired engine. Paint is Zero Paints Titanium Silver. Hope you like it, thanks for watching! Greetings from Cologne
