Hi! Well, you know what they say: "a secret is something you reveal to one person at a time". Do you share that view? LOL CT

Hi Jim! Your new take on this classic is great, The roof pulls it forward in time, but the rear pays hommage to the custom tradition. A fine blend. Bravo! CT

Where do you GET inspiration?
Claude Thibodeau replied to iBorg's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
HI! I was a Goodguys (and NSRA) member for a while, and lately, Goodguys started to send me (for free) their digital weekly "report", called Fuel Curve Insider. It features excerpts from their Gazette pages, and numnerous photo coverage of their events. It is a great source as to what colors and styles are "trending". However, I mus admit that these days, we see the living embodiment of "all that is old is new again". Maybe that's the definition of getting old: stuff you once favored comes back in vogue? It feels like it... But some new ideas emerge. CT -
HI! I've noted that among all modifications, a modern roof transplant projects a "classic" in the current era. So... Take a Monogram 58 TBird convertible, and mold on a Revell 92 Cougar greenhouse. Get rid of the wipers. Mold the doors shut (quite a chore!), mold the bumpers and trunk gaps, adjust the stance, bring in a Foose FD100 rolling stock & disc brakes, add the Cougar dash & seats. Then, scratchbuild front grille, bars, headlights, mirrors, firewall, injection system, door panels, shifter, hand brake lever, speakers enclosure & rear tub, carpet, etc. Lay on Tamya's AS-29 + pearl + Mr.Hobby super clear & top coat. Polish everything. Wires & hoses, plus touches of Molotow's chrome, and Voilà ! Hours of fun with styrene! CT PS: Thanks to fellow modeler Plowboy for sharing the color code he used on a sweet street-rod featured elsewhere on this forum.

AMT 1963 Impala - Advanced Custom Version
Claude Thibodeau replied to Impalow's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Hi Eric! Happy you consider my suggestion, AMT offered the Ivo car lately, it's even on the shelf of my LHS as we speak. But in order to apply the tricky paint I know you have in mind, you may have to glue the many panels together first, and slide the bare chassis in later. Otherwise, you will have numerous panel joints. The lakester below was built this way, and it is more work, but can be done. Good luck with your project! CT -
AMT 1963 Impala - Advanced Custom Version
Claude Thibodeau replied to Impalow's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Hi Eric! Then, may-I suggest something in the lines of the Yellow Fang dragster? It was almost a show-dragster, if I remember correclty... CT -
Hi Glen! Beautifull design, great execution. Il makes it somehow much more contemporary. And the Pegasus rollingstock fits like a glove! Bravo! CT

Thank you, much appreciated! CT -
Hi Lee! Well, I'm certain that if you look up "CLEAN" in the Webster, this is the picture next to the word. I love the subtle scallops. Bravo! CT

Thank you Bob! Happy you like it. Now, as much as I, too, love the dark windows... It was just because I was too lazy to create a credible interior. Really. Those weathered finishes take a looooooong time to complete, as you may know. Something had to give... My way of honoring the Gods of Curbside. CT

Hi Tim! Thanks for the comments, and the reflexions. I was thinking yesterday night that one comical solution would be to get cherished creations to be cremated at once with the late modeler... This way: no junk to dispose of, and "pride of creation" kind of "preserved forever". LOL. As for your four rules, they certainly reflect your wisdom and experience. I could not define it better if I tried. A few trophies, yes, but fun and great memories foremost. Keep warm in this cold winter! CT

Hi Francis! Thanks for your comments, and your ever-present sense of humour! My stash of leftovers is slowly being depleted, but as you can see, my cabinet of finished models is filling by the week. Which got me thinking... I've read many letters from modelers in magazines, expressing concern that "when they pass, wife and kids will just throw all their cherished homebuilt collection in a big cardbox, and dispose of it as if it was junk". So, maybe, this is the fate of those "junk leftovers": They'll return to junk, whatever we may think about it... Who knows? Now, back to the bench. So much styrene, so little time. CT
