  1. I read about it a while back. Something to do with bumper height and the headlights.
  2. Hasn't the "Carolina Squat" on pickups been outlawed?
  3. One trend I'm sick to death of is the gasser treatment. They're like a Donk, only with smaller wheels. They were cool in the '60s. But, that was 60 years ago! I would rather drive a Donk! Another is steel wheels and hubcaps! Anyone not around in the '60's thinks every muscle car came from the factory with them! There isn't more of a "me too" trend around.
  4. Check the wheelie bars in the Moebius '65 Nova gasser. They may be what you're looking for.
  5. Let me check my '68 project. If I don't need those tail lights, I'll let you know.
  6. I agree with Bill on using ebay. If there's a kit I'm looking for, I just do a search and find them instantly. Just remember. Vintage kits are like subways. If you miss one, just wait and another will come along shortly. Bid what you're willing to give and walk away.
  7. The big problem with all of those engines is that not a single one came with a set of headers. That's something that really annoys me with street machine kits from both AMT and Revell. Headers are typically the first performance modification anyone does to a full scale car. While the street machine '57 has some strong points. It also has it's weak points. The engine is nothing special. Besides the Super Victor intake. No headers. The frame is nice. But, it has stock front suspension. Not very Art Morrison like to me. Then there's the stock interior with an aftermarket steering wheel.
  8. Here are the Mini T's. Only issue I have with them are the old, way out of date pie crust tires. But, those can easily be changed out.
  9. That was obviously a test shot buildup. They're more faint and perfectly in line on the production kit.
  10. I think you nailed it Steve. The box art gave me the exact impression that you described. In all my years of building models, I've never built a '57 Chevrolet. It's my least favorite of the tri-fives. The things everyone loves about them are the things I don't like. Still, I have three of them in the stash. One thing's for sure, no one can say the 57 Chevrolet hasn't been covered by the kit companies. AMT has three. Revell has six. Now one less to Atlantis. Don't know if they got the Nomad also. Monogram has three. MPC has one. Is it any wonder people complain, "we don't need another 57 Chevy!"? I don't understand the desire for this AMT '57. The side trim looks horrible and always has. Has the '90’s stock issue ever been reissued?
  11. Even though I'm not interested in this particular kit, it along with the Foose Ford and Cadillac gives me great hope for future new models. I think they learned with the Foose kits just how valuable laser scanning can be. I'd like to see them do a proper looking '69 Mustang with the laser scanning. The face lift they gave it didn’t improve it by much. They could engineer it so that they could do both the '69 and '70 with different fascias, tail panels/lights and interiors.
  12. I see your quandary. I think you can figure it out.
  13. Are the "Rubber Duck" and "California Roller" versions the same kit (except wheels and tires) as this one? They look the same.
  14. But, wouldn't that require all of the molds? The body, chassis, interior etc.? Not much from the stock Olds would transfer over to the AWB would it? I wonder how well the Olds kits sold? I've only seen three of them built.
  15. Wow! $14.90 plus shipping for four wheels?!
  16. Here's a box art blunder. The infamous 429 Corvette.
  17. The reason the Beep Beep horn is a double blunder is: A. The instructions show to mount it on the firewall. B. It shouldn't be in a GTX. The GTX didn’t come with that horn. Neither did the '70 Super Bee. But, both instruction sheets show it that way.
  18. Pegasus makes a set called Mini T's. They're nice and come with a set of tires. MRC makes a set of six wheels with four tires. But, the price they command will hurt your wallet. Kit wise, the Monogram/Revell '37 Ford coupe and the AMT '66 Nova SS have the best ones IMO. For staggered Cragars, the AMT Baldwin Motion '70 Camaro has a nice set. The best thing to do is make a post in the wanted section. Cragars are a very common wheel and any number of builder's have a set that they would trade.
  19. The reason the words are spelled incorrectly is a simple license issue. Note how all three are inside quotations.
  20. Not seeing three mistakes on this.
  21. Here's one I ran into recently. It's from the AMT '69 GTX. It also has the Beep Beep horn mounting to the firewall for the wipers motor. I actually wanted to use the single four barrel intake and carburetor. But, the way the intake is made, you could see the lifter valley underneath.
  22. It really isn't that hard to make your own with the '66 and '67.
  23. Yeah, like when you rip open your present and it's a pack of underwear. ?
  24. Seeing how this thread is on it's fifteenth page now, it's bound to go off track here and there. It's not a big deal. It's nothing but page after page of guesses. And now it's guesses about the guesses! More than likely, when this "mystery" kit is announced, there's going to be a lot of people disappointed.
  25. Looks like both of those have the inaccurate fastback quarter panels.
