  1. It takes more than half ton wheels to turn the F-350 Camper Special into an F-150. The bed on the F-350 is totally different as is the wheelbase. The rearend sets back seven inches farther making the wheelbase longer. The wheel openings on the bed are also four inches higher.
  2. You should be able to do it just as you described Mike. I've painted the blue line on the Good Year Blue Streak Sports Car Special tires and did it that exact way.
  3. Waaaaay back in the day when I worked in a body shop, the red oxide primer looked exactly as you described. It didn't look red to me at all. Some of the current red oxide primers in the spray can also look brown. If you think it needs it, just add some red from the same line to it.
  4. You can make bulges in the top of the wheel wells to gain clearance. I had to do it on both of these models.
  5. This is the coolest model I've seen built with the Phantom Vickie. It's from the talented hands of Rockin Rodney Rat. It even looks cool with the top on.
  6. What kills the Phantom Vickie IMO is the goofy Duvall windshield and top. But, the rest of it makes a great basis for a modern hot rod. I also like the engine, wheels and tires for other modern type builds. Still, with some parts swapping, you can make a pretty cool hot rod with it. For me, it's a fun kit to see what I can make out of it with different parts.
  7. I haven't lowered an L-700. But, I have lowered several others. The easiest way to lower a kit with a straight axle front end and parallel leaf springs is to do an axle over conversion. Instead of gluing the axle to the bottom of the springs, glue it on top of the springs. You may have to notch the frame depending on how much clearance you're left with.
  8. This is an early photo of a '67 coupe conversion I did with the chassis under it. Same basic body as your GT-350. Just different fascia and tail panel. Installing those pieces first works much better when it comes time to paint. Trying to glue them on after paint is a recipe for disaster. Especially if they happen to not fit quite right.
  9. You definitely want to glue parts 90, 96 and 97 to the body before paint. The chassis will still fit. But, it will be a little tricky. Insert the rear of the chassis first and the front will slide right in.
  10. Check 3D printing. Someone may be making one.
  11. To me, those colors just don't go together at all. The Judge stripes really clash with the body color. I would have changed the body color to something that would compliment the interior and stripes.
  12. I remember those tires. But, none of the variants of the '34 came with them.
  13. Best example of this kit that I've seen! All of the extra work you did really paid off! Nice work!
  14. I usually don't like stock. But, this model is so nice, I can't help but like it! Really nice work Joe!
  15. That is a super nice looking Camaro Curtis! You nailed it!
  16. So, I'm guessing that none of these is the "mystery" kit eluded to months ago?
  17. This is my favorite build of this kit. It was built by Greg Pugh. Until I saw this model, I had no interest in this kit. But, after I saw it, I had to have one! Besides the things I mentioned earlier, I'm just not seeing the things that are so bad about it. IIRC, the only changes Greg made were the engine and rolling stock. To me, it's not nearly as bad as most kits from Moebius and it was tooled thirty plus years ago. Maybe I'm just not familiar enough with the subject.
  18. I started building the yellow version years ago. The biggest issue I discovered on it was the shape of quarter glass. It's too rounded and drops down a bit at the top rear. Pretty easily fixed. The rear of the roof can be fixed with some sanding. The grille on the box is nothing like the grille in the box. The grille in the yellow sedan is actually the most accurate of the AMT kits. It has more of a V to it. The hood sides are also much better than those in the five window. I was actually able to open the louvers on the hood sides on mine. IIRC, it's got some pretty cool aftermarket flathead parts. I'd like to get the '33 sometime just to check out the parts and such in it. I think it's street rod only.
  19. Nice looking Ranchero Bob! The color suits it perfect! My older brother had a '69 Torino GT in the same scheme. I've always wanted to do a replica for him. But, the GT is very pricey.
  20. One the dumbest ideas I've ever seen! Maybe while their at it, they can make one to go over their rearend too. πŸ˜‚
  21. Thanx for that info Mark! I was in a discussion years ago about the stock Datsun pickup and someone commented that it couldn't be brought back to stock because it was modified into the gasser. Then later into the monster truck.
  22. Bill, I think the wheel you have may be from a Monogram kit. Kinda looks like it's from the '32 Ford Son Of Ford.
  23. They could. But, I honestly don't know why they would. Unless they have two different molds for the cab. I can't see them going to the trouble of reverting the last issue back to a flip front end. If they do the stock/custom version, I'll get one. If it's the gasser version, I won't.
  24. I'd just build it as it is and paint the stripes. Rather than convert the short bed to a long bed, extend the wheelbase and more than likely have to lengthen the body flares for the bed and sidepipes. Besides, it just looks wrong and out of proportion on the box.
