  1. A very impressive undertaking and what you are showing here looks great! From the comments this has been in progress for some time, have you got photos to bring us new guys up to date on the whole project.
  2. This was never intended to be finished as it was just a test of using aluminum kitchen foil attached with silver/gold leaf sizing as an adhesive. The results are quite promising but there was a lot of work involved.
  3. All Body panels now have the self etch primer applied over the 320 grit recommended surface finish for maximum adhesion. Testing has shown 5 to seven days curing time gives me the best final result. The next step is the final white base color next weekend. The the red panels will then be applied.
  4. The steering rack looks very good, love the O rings.
  5. I am curious about these as well
  6. Thanks Tim: Sorry for the late reply we have just sold the house and were finishing up the details on the new residence. Yes the original windscreen just was not cutting it, much happier. Pushing a bit to finish it before the move. 5 weeks
  7. Thank you for posting this, it looks like a fantastic kit (I have thought about getting one) and yet you find ways to improve it. I would love to add it to my F1 / McLaren collection but I'm not sure I could pull it off to the standard you have set. I guess I'm building this one vicariously through your thread. Great job so far!
  8. The wing works, liking the hood but better you than me, that's a tough shape shape to make fit all around, but it looks like you have a handle on it. Well done,
  9. I am speechless, the kit , your skills, wonderful!
  10. Amazing scratch building skills! Your templating and measurement transferring processes are inventive and effective. This is a very interesting project which I will be paying attention to from here forward.
  11. Looks like another worthwhile addition to the series, nicely done.
  12. Love the paint and the added detailing under the hood, this is coming along nicely.
  13. I love the interior, and I don't think the shine is a issue. Once fully assembled it will help to bring out the textures inside the body.
  14. Thank you for the kind words, I do strive to give my models a feeling of realism.
  15. Thank you Dave, yes it is an improvement, one step closer.
  16. I really like this car, everything just looks right.
  17. Hi Dave, Welcome aboard, really good to have you and your talents here!
  18. So I've been looking at the windscreen I built for about a week or so and it just wasn't sitting right with me. I decided to make a change, but how to get it off as it was really well attached with cyanoacrylate. I couldn't pry it off without damaging the cowl, and that was a non starter. I had read that acetone would soften the glue after a while, so off to Lowes to buy some. Filled up a glass and dropped in the complete cowl, went back after an hour and no change, but decided to let it go a while longer. Two hours later the windscreen was laying on the bottom of the jar and no trace of the glue remained on either piece, amazing. It really works! This afternoon I built a new windscreen. I am much happier with the look, I also finished assembling the wheels and adding wheel nuts. I had also been putting off drilling holes in Jeff's beautiful wheels for the valve stems. After a couple practice tries on the inside of the wheels I got up the nerve to drill the real holes. The holes are exactly where I wanted them and the drill bit didn't slip so the are no scratches. I'm calling today a win!
  19. Hi Todd So you have decided to come over to the dark side, LOL Welcome my friend and I know this will be a great build based on what I have seen in the past.
  20. I have to completely agree, increadable workmanship throughout! Is there a thread on the M7A?
  21. Simply an amazing project, looking through the photos it's hard not to imagine that this is a model and not the real car. Fantastic!
  22. I agree with AFX, more angle I think will look slightly better, and if possible make the adjustment in the front from a visual perspective. I am not very knowledgeable about these cars regarding wing height above the cage. So more angle but as per the original as to how to get it.
  23. I completely agree, nice job Todd.
  24. The body looks great and will be a solid foundation for this project
  25. Looks like you are off to a good start on this.
