Those wheels came out really nice. The SR2 looks good too, it would be nice to see one of the later SR2's with the headrest/fin behind the driver. Steve A.

Model Car Channel Store 2016-19 Corvette C7R Upgrade
Leo64 replied to Jim B's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I thought of something else if you want a challenge instead of painting the Corvette yellow. Scalemotorsports makes a couple of decal sets for the C7R Corvette, and there is a lot of decals to do if you chose to get one. I bought both of his decal sets, and like the trans kit that I almost have done, these two are at about the same stage of completion. Here is the links to the decals from Scalemotorsports: https://scalemotorsport.com/collections/templated-carbon-fiber-decal-sets/products/c7r-full-carbon-jacket-cft https://scalemotorsport.com/collections/camouflage-waterslide-decals/products/pratt-miller-test-mule-full-camo-body-wrap Steve A. -
I'm glad I could help you out with this build. Wait till you see some of the other stuff John has been working on. Steve A.

Model Car Channel Store 2016-19 Corvette C7R Upgrade

I bought that conversion kit, and have built most of the model, only have a little bit to do to finish it up. It is a really nice conversion kit, and the instructions they give you give you all the info needed to fit the parts. the only recommendation I would give is after gluing on the front clip piece I would back up the seam with some thin plastic. I had to do a move last year and had the body packed pretty well, but it got bumped or something and it broke apart. If I had backed it up I think it might have held together better. Also, I would test fit the headlight lenses to the body before painting to see if you have the front clip lined up good, so you can make any adjustments. The Indycal decals are really nice to work with too. If you have any other specific questions just ask and I'll try to help you out. Steve A. -
Hey Paul, I'm getting by & trying to get used to living in AZ. My knees don't like it too much when the winter snow starts up, and it is tough to do any model painting when it only gets to around mid 30's during the day and down into the low teens at night. Attached is a pic from when the latest storm came through. That's my Explorer outside my bedroom window. I'm hoping to get a work area set up soon so I can get back into building some models. I miss being able to attend the club meeting as there isn't any kind of model scene up in the Williams/Flagstaff area. I hope you will be able to come to the Desert Scale Show, I think you will have a good time. Steve A.

Hood Scoop for American Graffiti 1955 Chev
Leo64 replied to mopargreg's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Someone online was asking about a real one for a replica build he was doing, and one of the suggestions was the hood scoop from a 57 Ford Thunderbird. Looking at pics of real cars it does look kind of close. Maybe you can find a spare hood from one of the AMT 57 or Monogram 56 T Bird kits that were made. Steve A. -
I'm looking forward to the show also. I'll have a table selling some kits and some of the decals I've made. Steve A.

REVELL CORVETTE C7R VALVOLINE
Leo64 replied to HSCHMIDT's topic in Other Racing: Road Racing, Salt Flat Racers
Nice job on the fantasy livery. I made some decals up after I saw an image online for one with a Johnny Walker sponsorship. One thing after looking at the pics is I'm wondering if the wheels are on correctly. According to the instructions, they show a front and rear wheel, and the ones I've built didn't have the front wheel & tire sticking that far out of the body. Otherwise it looks really nice. 1/12 motorcycle air cleaner.
Leo64 replied to Mike C.'s topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Norm at Replicas and Miniatures of Maryland has a 1/12th scale motorcycle details carbs air cleaners & fuel shut-off valve set listed as part #RM-127, and one of the air cleaners kind of looks like that one. Here is a link to Craig Stansfield's Fotki album showing the parts: https://public.fotki.com/crstan/replican-and-miniat/replicas-and-miniat/100-3071-jpg.html Steve A. -
straight axle for 1/12 or 1/16 scale
Leo64 replied to gray07's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
If you have a way to have a 3D file printed, Ron Olsen has a 1/12th scale Straight Axle file you can buy, and it can be scaled to a different size too. https://3dmodelspecialties.com/products/Straight-axle-p494877867 Steve A. -

If I remember correctly, the Curtis Turner museum is part of the Virginia Museum of Transportation in Roanoke, VA. One of Curtis' daughters runs it. Steve A. -

Curt has spent a lot of time and money perfecting his wire wheels, and they are really nicely done. I'm sure your model will look great when it is done. Steve A. -

Yes, Curt had it at the Spirit of Speed Show before he sends it off to the museum. I was at the show also and had a few models entered & had a table selling some kits and some decals I made up. Curt had the table next to me selling his Tru-Wire wheels and some kits. Steve A. -
The show was really fun, lots of great models to look at. I enjoyed the trip to the show, got to catch up with some friends and meet some new guys. Sold a few kits, a couple to a lady that was looking to get them for her son, so hopefully there is a future modeler there. Sold a few of the decals I brought, and may do a couple of future ones also. A couple of John Teresi's models that I helped out with decals won some awards, including Best In Show. Hopefully John will be posting pictures of the models on here soon. Overall I had a great time and Scott and the other guys put on a really nice show. Steve A.

Hey Dan, I hope to do well and sell some stuff. After this show I need to start planning for the next Desert Scale Classic Show. LOL Also, I lurked on this forum for quite awhile, but actually signed up some time ago, I just don't do a whole lot of posting, but I'm getting better. By the way, just an fyi, but the link at the bottom of your post doesn't take you to the new DSC website with the .org, it takes you to the old site. Steve A.

Anyone else planning on going to the Spirit of Speed Show at the NHRA Museum on Nov 6th? I'm planning on being there and will have a table selling some kits and some decals I've done up. I hope there is a good turn out for the show. Steve A.
