  1. Added putty to the quarter glasses and installed the quarter panel extensions.
  2. Started working on the quarter glasses.
  3. Here are some more rear spoiler wips Need to do some more sanding.
  4. Niko, I will use some of the contengencie decals that come in the kit but the rest I will have to create on my computer and print out on testors paper. I did a test decal to see how it would look and it turned out pretty good.
  5. You can see the gap on the right side between braces is greater than on the left side.
  6. The nose is ready for some two color priming to get rid of scratches, dips and pin holes. I made some diamond shaped pieces of styrene to splt but not break for the spoiler braces. After installing I added some putty to make them more uniform. It looks like the braces are not symetrical side to side and the reason being is that the real cars braces are not symetrical side to side.
  7. I needed to make the splitter lip to add to the bottom of the nose. I just used the nose as a template.
  8. Bruce, Thanks for the reply. Tony's Chevy will be easier because I believe the kit nose decals will also work for the 2011 nose.
  9. Did some more sanding but still not quite right. Added some more putty . Hopefully just one more sanding and I can move on to finish the rear spoiler.
  10. Added the Squadron white putty where needed for now. Added the lower strip, leaving just the edge of the old splitter showing. Will have to wait till Thanksgiving to proceed.
  11. Tried 95% denatured alchohol and got much better results. Ready for sanding and putty and styrene modifications to add a front and rear spoiler and change the nose a little. I also have to change the quarter glasses.
  12. Tried superclean with not very good results
  13. Here is the kit. The price tag is a little misleading. I actually paid $8.99 for the kit with a 40% off coupon printed out from Hobby Lobby's web site.
  14. More pics in the Nascar section, if interested.
  15. Thanks to all that replied to this topic. I really appreciated the input.
  16. Finally finished. More pictures in the Nascar section of this site.
  17. More pictures are at the link below. http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v212/texwardfan/1956%20Curtis%20Turner%20Ford/#!cpZZ4QQtppZZ16
  18. This model depicts the car Curtis Turner won the 1956 Southern 500 in. AMT kit,Tamiya paint, side moldings changed to Customline trim, many scratchbuilt parts, and home made inkjet decals. 84.5 hours to complete the build. Im trying to go back and fix the links photobucket killed so here are 3 of this one.
  19. Excellent job, Chris. You should post it in the Nascar section as well.
  20. Great job so far. I will get one when and if Hobby Lobby ever sells them.
  21. Thanks guys. Did i mention that the kit was only 10 dollars. It was a partial kit I found at a model car contest. Sometimes you can find gold from the vendors at these model car shows. They do not realize that I would have payed twice that amount to get this rare kit partial or not.
  22. You can get them at hobby Lobby with the 40% off coupon for 8.99 plus tax. I bought two of them and plan to fix the front end to eliminate the struts and make my own rear spoiler and shark fin. i will also fix the quarter panels to be even with the front of the rear wheel opening like the current 2011 cup cars. Great job on your build bbowser.
  23. I tried to download the finished pictures of the model this morning but Photobucket wasnt working. Hopefully they will get it fixed by tommorrow.
