  1. Bill, I am a big fan of your work. I really liked the article and build of the Gober Sosebee Ford.

  2. MarkJ

    #15 Square Bird

    Great job.
  3. Rex White is my all time favorite driver and he used the #4 most of the time. The others are just a coincidence.
  4. Niko, The bungi cords are made from elastic jewelry thead that can be purchased at any craft store such as Hobby Lobby. I removed the outer sheathing from the thread and then colored it with a silver sharpie felt tip pen. It easily stretches over the hook in the hood and the trunk. Thanks for your interest in the build.
  5. David I used the wheels from the kit but the tires were too small so I used tires from an amt 55 chevy kit.. The wheels are detail painted. They come with slots in them but not cut all the way through. Thanks for your interest in the model.
  6. Revell Black Widow kit. Testors 2 part lacquer. Decals created by me and printed on Testors ink jet clear decal paper. Exhausts and Rollbars made from Evergreen styrene 3/32" tubing. Bungi cords from elastic jewelry cord. Fixed some more photobucket links.
  7. Thanks, O.C. I can definitely say the same thing about your builds.
  8. Thank you Niko. It's great to see there are Vintage Nascar fans in Finland.
  9. Dan here are some color pics. They are not real sharp because they are dvd captures, but you can make out what the contrngencies are and where they were located for the Southern 500 car.
  10. Dan here are three pictures I found of Jim Reed's 59 Chevy I scanned from books I have. I'm sure if you go to Raytona's Fotki site you can find more. Just google it. Billy Kingsley also has many pictures in his Fotki site but I can't remember what he calls it. I think its El Camino Billy.
  11. Dan , I get a lot of information from the guys at the Randy Ayers site. I also have a lot of books I have purchased over the years. I have some pictures of Jim Reeds 59. I just need to scan them and I'll post them .
  12. Brett, my guess is that it might have been a piece of plexiglass to protect the driver in case a piece of metal tryed to come through the windshield. I did'nt want to add it to the model because I was'nt sure and nobody seemed to know.
  13. Thanks guys. Here are some pictures of the real car I used for reference to build the model.
  14. AMT 58 Impala kit. Testors 2 part lacquer. Homemade decals printed on white and clear Testors decal sheets. Roof was changed from hardtop to sedan. This is the 8th of 11 Rex White cars I plan to build. Fixed some more photobucket links.
  15. Thanks guys.
  16. Thanks John. I am currently building a 58 Chevy. Doing a lot of body mods so hopefully it will turn out ok.
  17. Thanks guys. The movie should be re-released in DVD next week according to Amazon.com so if your interested you should check it out. The copy I have was copied from an old VHS tape to a super 8 tape and back to a VHS tape so needless to say I am going to be picking up the DVD version next week if I can find it locally. Thanks again.
  18. Robert, Its a Revell kit. Model master and testors rattle can paint. PPP wheels and tires. Evergreen styrene tubes for the exhaust and roll bars. The 427 engine came out of an AMT 67 Chevy kit. the driver is from the 2006 Revell Dale Earnhardt jr. kit. I had to change the head to an open face helmet add the face and the goggles that were made from clear sprue. I also had to shorten the drivers legs and arms and change the arms to hold the steering wheel closer to the drivers body. The decals are homemade ink jet decals using clear and white testors decal sheets sprayed with testors 1261 clear lacquer to bond the ink. The headers are made from solder. The car qualified seventh at Bristol's spring race and finished sixteenth after mechanical problems took it out. It only looked like this at that one race because it picked up a local sponsor Sherwood Chevy for this race only. This same car though, a few weeks later, finished 3rd at the World 600 in Charlotte with no sponsor on the quarter panels. Thank you for your interest in the model.
  19. If you don't want to buy them you can make your own using small sewing needles. they actually are functional like the real ones. Drill holes in the core support and the hood. Cut off the pointed part of the needle the length you need so the eye of the needle just extends enough when the hood is shut for a fabricated pin from small guage wire can go through the eye of the needle.
  20. Go to this site and look through all of his 60's through 70's pictures . I'm sure I saw one or two of Friday's 66 Chevelle and maybe even his 67 chevelle. He won't allow you to copy and paste them to your files so just take a picture of them right off the monitor screen with your digital camera. http://public.fotki.com/tona/
  21. Great job Slim. I especially like the exhausts.
  22. Excellent job, Ricky. Friday drove Chevy's when they were not very competitive in the period between Smokey's #13 Chevelle and Juniors #3 Monte Carlo that Charlie Glotzbach drove. So for a while he was the best Chevy fans had to root for. Again, Excellent job on it.
  23. 2006 Revell Nascar Chevy kit. Model masters two part lacquer. Powerslide tire decals. D.A.P. decals, two sheets.
  24. Brian, I'm looking forward to doing both of them. Thanks for the props.
