With this model I will try to depict the 1956 Southern 500 winner.
Here is the kit and some reference and wip pics. I will have to remove the Victoria moldings and add Customline moldings to depict the real car.
Foyt won the 64 Daytona Firecracker 400 in the car that this model replicates (sort of). Johan kit , Tamiya paint, lots of scratchbuilt stuff, homemade decals and PPP wheels and tires.
Fixed some photobucket links posted this originally in 2011
I would also like to build Brad's 2011 Dodge using the amt cot kit but for some reason the decal makers keep making their decals 1/24 instead of 1/25 scale. Believe me there is a big difference.
By the way Jonathan you did an awesome job on the build. Could you tell me what tamiya paint you used it looks spot on for color match to the real car.
Gus, It's finished except for the decals and future to seal them. (testors decals tend to peel up on their edges with age if you don't seal them down with future). I don't want to post anymore pictures until it is completely finished. Thanks for your interest in the project.
Now everything is done except for the back glass straps, decals and future. I just need to find the time to get it done. After further inspection the lug nuts appear to be black so I won't paint them.
I have everything done except for the BMF , decals and future. I think i figured out how to put a tiny stripe of bmf below the body side molding that goes along the fender door and quarter panel that I have already bmf'd. Its a parallel stripe the length of the molding.
No more wip pics. The next pics will be of the finished model. I got it assembled yesterday. All I lack is installing the tires , the fuel filler, the hood pins,Bare metal foil, back glass straps, decals, and future to seal the decals.
Have you ever noticed that the drivers name was never put on the Yunick Chevelles? Thanks for the link. I might just have to build a model of this car since all those reference pictures are available..
