  1. Wow, Charles. It's almost sad you have to hide all that beautiful metal work with primer and paint. I hope everyone who sees the final photos goes back to this wip to fully appreciate this astounding build. I'm still in awe with every new update on the build. Those seats already look super comfortable.
  2. You've done it again, oh great one. Removed something that wasn't supposed to be there and added the stuff that was. It's amazing how you find these fantastic ref pictures for something as old as this is. The assemblies you made look just like the ones in the picture. You're like a finely tuned parts making machine. Your right, this is definitely not OOB. But heck. There aint no fun in building OOB anyway.
  3. Finally have some good weather today so I will prime the chassis mother ship and all the pieces that need to be individually painted and then install them to the chassis. Then I can finish the chassis completely, including sanding the treads off the tires. Then I just need to repaint the body, decal the body, put the finish up coat of future or whatever they call it nowadays and this baby will finally be finished. Hallelujah, brothers and sisters.
  4. You are both doing fine jobs on these. I'm learning a lot of good stuff that I will never have to put into practice but I'm still enjoying the learning process.
  5. Thanks, Pierre, Francis and Ken. Appreciate the kind words about the build. I'm finally to the primer section of the build.
  6. Got the calipers finished. When you're working with parts this small, it's hard to get all 4 to look identical. When installed you can't really see them that well anyway, so it doesn't really matter. As long as there is something there to represent a caliper. I will put the best two on the rear axle because you can see them better than the front ones.
  7. Andrew, looks like you've got your work cut out for you on this one. Will be watching intently as you take your journey and carry us with you.
  8. Body is looking excellent and hard to believe how good the motor looks when you remember how it started with all the strings attached. This 3-d printing is amazing stuff. Someday I would love to purchase a kit and give it a go.
  9. Did one of 4 calipers. Needs major cleanup and one more thing added to the side of it,
  10. Almost snuck one by me again, Pierre. I have a feeling this will not be as OOB as you had originally planned. Looking forward to more and more of this one.
  11. Thanks, Anton. Trial and error is the same old process I go through every time to finally end up with something that will work. Someday I want to build a 3d printed kit so I can see what it's like to cut away all the strings that holds everything together and then build it. Like the Lancia Stratos that MM is building. Something like that in a Ferrari.
  12. Need to start over on the calipers and make all 4 together this time and make them fit as well as they can, not worrying that they look too much like the real calipers. Just need something that looks like calipers
  13. Thanks, Helmut. They should be passable, I'm thinking.
  14. Started on the second of 4 calipers. Just need to make 4 that look basically the same and fit.
  15. OK, Charlie. You have gone to an all-new level of unbelievableness , if that is even a word, with these latest photos of the engine and primered body parts. I'm sitting here stunned looking at this creation before me. The engine already looks like you will be able to crank it up and it will run at full song. Wouldn't that be a beautiful sound?
  16. Got the front tires figured out for installation. Just need to make some brake calipers that will look okay.
  17. Looks outstanding, M.M. Looks like you took the real car and shrunk it down to scale.
  18. Had to make something that would look like a disc brake. just need to make some calipers for them to finish the illusion.
  19. Looks Awesome MM. Color match looks perfect. I know what a pain it is to mix up the right color to match a decal.
  20. Thank you, Pierre. I started pulling the parts our of various zip lock bags and actually found out that I had made more parts than I knew about, so I had to add that to a list of parts that need to be cleaned and primed and then painted. Hopefully cleaning and priming will start tomorrow. Are you doing a wip on your oob? I've been looking for activity from you but have not detected any unless you're in a whole different forum then you have been in lately. Please share a link if you have a wip on your oob.
  21. Got the drive shaft and the rest of the front shocks done. also made some travel limiting chains for the truck arms. Reposted the item check list. It's the way I like to see it, all checked off. Now on to the priming of all those little things I made.
  22. Thank you, Pierre and Helmut, for stopping by and lending some encouraging words about the build. Luckily Pierre I won't need a paint booth because I am a member of the Brush Painters Society. We don't need no stinking paint booths. I hope you caught the reference to the quote from the movie "The Treasure of the Sierra Madre". I probably use that one way too much. The item in that movie that they didn't need was badges.
  23. Working on mounting the front shocks. It's going to be a really tight fit, but I think it will all work out okay. Last thing to make will be lengthening the drive shaft. After that I can start priming and painting all these parts and get them installed where they go. Have to re-paint the body. I handled it so much in the fabrication of chassis parts, I messed it up.
  24. Thank you very much, Brian for stopping by and sharing the very kind words about the build. You made my day. The end should not be too much longer.
  25. You are a lucky man, Pierre. The model shops around here have morphed into radio control shops for planes, drones and road vehicles but no model kits or paint or even adhesives. It's mainly where radio control guys hang out all day to stay away from their wives and families. I think the internet kind of killed what was the old type of model shop and maybe even Hobby Lobby too. Kinda sad.
