Thanks Hondo, Somebody sent me a pretty good picture of the car from a book called Muscle Car Chronicles. Its black and white but I know what color the car is so thats no problem. Thanks for the info.

The finish looks excellent to me. I don't see how it could be any shinier. By the way what kind of paint did you use and clear coat if any?

Hopefully somebody in here has pictures of Don Gay's A/stock 1962 Pontiac Catalina. I used to see this car run at the Dickinson raceway back when I was a kid. I have always wanted to build a model of this car. I was able to pic up the AMT 62 Pontiac Catalina 421 SD kit at a local model car show. I know I will have to purchase the MCW 62 Pontiac 2 door sedan resin body to do the build. I mostly do Nascar models so I have know idea where to search for vintage drag racing pictures. Maybe you guys know of some sites I could go to , to search for them. Thanks

Erick, I had my wife pic me up some Super Sculpy today at the local Hobby Lobby. Its not Super Sculpey 3 but it says that it is artist quality whatever that means. I definitely want to bake it in the oven if I ever come up with something presentable. I have never tryed sculpting before but who knows maybe I won't be too bad at it. Thanks again for all your help and if I come up with anything I will e-mail it to you.

Erick, Thank you for the info on the Super Sculpy 3. I have always wanted to try my hand at making figures and this seems like a great product for that. By the way you did a fantastic job creating your figure of Big E. It would be great to see a step by step tutorial on how you go about it. Thanks again!!

It's not resin but I did extend the nose, change the 1/4 glasses, slab sided the sides and the 1/4 panels and changed the shape of the rear bumper. If you do Rusty's Pontiac you wont have to do any body mods because it was an 89 and I'm pretty sure they made a kit for that one. He was in a Ford by 1995 and the 95 Grand Prix is the only one that wasn't made in kit form. Thanks for the comments 3mens2.

I had not built a model in 35 years. I saw a model of an AMT 62 Bel-Air in a five and dime store in the hill country of central Texas and decided it might be fun to build a model of Rex White's 1962 Dixie 400 winner. I built it and now I can't stop building.

Any of you all in southeast Texas might want to check out this show Saturday the 11th. It's the Second annual Houston Automobile Modelers Show in Pearland. I saw it advertised in the back of Scale Auto. The address if you want to google a map is 2320 Hatfield Road Pearland ,Texas 77581. I'm hoping the vendors will have some Tamiya paint and maybe some models I have been looking for but have had no luck finding at the model shops.

Wow, to have the great Jairus Watson comment on my model is truly an honor. I too used many reference pictures to try an get the 40 to look like a 39 standard. I know the grille is way off and my headlight pods are too big but the car does look more like a 39 now than a 40. My modeling skills just wont allow me to build the model I would like to have. I'm trying to replicate the 39 Ford that Lloyd Seay campaigned back in 1941 way before Nascar was even a twinkle in Bill France's eyes. Speaking of Bill France, the founder of Nascar, he said that Lloyd Seay was the greatest driver he had ever seen. That is why I wanted to do this project. Luckily they ran without the sides of the hood in place so I don't have to worry about modeling them. Below is a picture of the car I'm trying to get close to replicating. I modified and fitted the hood. I shot the first of many primer coats with Duplicolor gray primer.
