Way to resurrect a bad build into a great one. I hope you did not have to give it back after all that work.
  2. Another very fine and very, very clean build. Thats certainly top shelf stuff right there.
  3. Very fine build. I agree with you about the story about after he wrecked his probably dominate Monte Carlo. Just goes to show, Cale could win in anything.
  4. Like I said, it would have been better if I could have gotten the black smoother but that's about as good as I can do these days. I'm still pretty happy with it and a full shot picture of the model will look better than a close up of the wheels. The airbrush combo worked so well I might be rethinking the way I paint my bodies in the future. Just really hard to find good weather days down here in the summer. The humidity needs to be less than 85% and that's really hard to get here.in the summer.
  5. Finally had good weather on Saturday. 70 degrees, 27% humidity and no wind at all. I broke out my new combo pack of Neo by Iwata small compressor and gravity feed air brush. Found my AlcladII chrome which is already thinned properly for air brush use and sat down and went after it in my backyard. Really turned out great and the airbrush compressor tandem worked flawlessly. the new Revell chrome product would have probably been better, but that stuff is almost impossible to get. At least for me. You have to have a very smooth and glossy black undercoat to make AlcladII work to its best which I probably did not do a good enough job at, but the wheels look more like chrome than silver. I will post them later.
  6. Jason, this is one of your best ever. Super clean work and that blue is vibrant and looks perfect as well as the gold. Both are really hard metallics to shoot and receive this kind of result. You should be super proud of this one as well as all of your other builds.
  7. Pierre, really like the lighter shade of silver. Glad to see your back on this one.
  8. Yes, he won the 1975 Daytona 500 in one of the sloped nosed ones. I've got a kit to do that one. I actually owned a 1976 Laguna S-3. It was maroon but I ordered the 350 2-barrel carb version because the 400 4-barrel engine was having a lot of trouble with cylinder head gaskets. The 350 2 barrel was a dog of a car. Did not keep it very long.
  9. Just need to make the shoulder and belt harness hardware and then I can prime and paint all the seat parts and get it assembled as a unit, to install into the interior after it is painted.
  10. Looking forward to seeing this one in the finished build threads. Looks fabulous already.
  11. Obscurity is a wonderful thing. I can't wait to see this one finished. The body looks excellent.
  12. Thanks, Donato. It was a while back as you can see from the dates on some of the posts. I really worked hard trying to get the color right and add enough detail to make it more interesting. Luckily the you tube video was very helpful in realizing the roof number was very small and other things the other ref pictures did not reveal. I always wanted to do this car because it was Fireball's last big win and I remember as a 13-year-old being very upset about the news of the horrible World 600 accident and his finally succumbing to the burns later on that year. I think pneumonia was the actual cause of his death. He was the Earnhardt senior of his time.
  13. Here is a shot of it on the dash.
  14. cmpova, that is the logo for Old Crow bourbon or whisky. It is also on the middle of the dash. I don't think it was a sponsor of the car. I just think Fireball liked drinking it, but that's just a guess on my part. Maybe a Nascar historian on here with better searching the web skills can find an answer for why the logo is on the car. I could never find out. But I had to add it to the build. Thanks for your interest in the build.
  15. Finally found a ref picture for the bottom of the car. Very small and grainey but can get a pretty good idea of how it looks if I compare it to other Banjo chassis of the time it competed.
  16. Great job on all of them, but I am really enjoying the 63 Ford.
  17. Had to cut the slots in the seat for the lap belts to go through.
  18. Wow, I thought only stuff like this happened to me. I'm sure you can fix it and it will be the best build you've ever done.
  19. Pierre, will you be putting a prancing horse emblem on the grille?
  20. Wow, now that looks like a Ferrari. So much better.
  21. This is the only reference picture I had for the seat. I'm not even sure it wasn't added by the owner of the 1:1 replica car and not what the real car had, and I'm not even sure if the outer part of the seat continued the diamond pattern. I also think my diamonds might be too big but that's no bigee. I mainly just thought it was a pretty cool seat and I wanted to try to replicate it the best I could hoping the real car from back in the day had one like it.
  22. Thanks for your continued support, Pierre. You will never see me put this much time into a seat again. Thats for sure. I have promised myself an OOB build next except for the tires and wheels that come in the kit. They are just too ridiculous to use. But that won't require any detailing.

Excellent job, Bruce. Very clean and paint and decal work top notch.

    The King

Excellent job on the build. If you had put the figure behind the car with a few inches gap you could have gotten away with it but standing next to the build or in front of it will make it look like a giant. Which actually Richard was. A giant among men.
  25. The main part of the seat is finished. I might add a strip between the outer and inner parts of the seat.
