  1. Most welcome Jerry.... I have one I was looking for in particular, it showed the head lights mounted very close to the Rad, which looked really cool......... similar to the old Pete's and KW's... Jeff
  2. Here are a few I snagged off the 'net' , I hope this helps rather than muddies the waters...
  3. Personally, with all that has been going on with FB lately, I think I will stay away from it, I certainly don't need the 'stress' of someone telling me what I can and can't say that has little idea of how I'm thinking. I think I find it easier to not participate in FB, and hang out here with you guys, where I can learn a lot and have a chuckle now and again... interesting conversation here on this subject.... Jeff
  4. The guy driving should carry a rag in his back pocket to wipe up that pesky fuel spill tho ? Outstanding build.... you nailed the look perfectly Jeff
  5. It is a perfect color for that unit.... I will try and look into that color or something close for a planned build, thanks Jeff
  6. Beautiful build... like the others mentioned, the dump box looks WAY better than the stock kit box..... and the color, wow that pops, what is the color called............ I could do one of mine in that color.... it makes the truck ! Jeff
  7. This is a real eye catcher, I love the color combo, and the stripes just set it off...... those old school Kenworths had beautiful lines, you nailed this one , Ken Jeff
  8. The boards look great ! All you have to do is split a few and break a few chunks out like the low bed I used to pull, from guys loading Cats and excavators with grousers on the tracks and turning on the deck ! Arrgghh LOL Love what you are doing, can't wait for the next update... Jeff
  9. Great answers and responses for sure, and I DO understand everyone has a 'real life', and this is a hobby, and we all build at our own pace, I do get all that for sure, it was probably a silly question to ask, but as I was perusing the WIP section, it just an observation that some real good stuff just kind of went away............ was just wondering. And I certainly understand every one's input and totally understand.... maybe , like John says, that some might see this and resurrect an old starter....... who knows...
  10. kind of like, it's more about the journey than the destination....
  11. Thanks , John.......... I was a bit concerned I may have set off a fire storm with the possibility that guys may think it rather brash of me to put out the query about fizzled projects.... and letting me know as such.... ? but alas not to be so... it is just that some or most of the talent here blows my mind, and the scratch building is off the clock, and that is one of the reasons I asked about this is to watch and enjoy seeing what artistry is on the site...... so can we expect a re-start of the MS 11 F 1 car? ?
  12. I guess my point is /was that some of the guys start out with a great idea, and for a multitude of reasons, the idea doesn't come to fruition, and it is shame that they can't/don't complete their vision, which if possible would have in some cases been quite spectacular. I also fall into that category , hence my 30 year old GMC General continuation... I get it... and yes, of course John said it best when he said that no lives depend on building or finishing a model.... and for the record, none of my builds will ever be close to a contest build ...ever... ?
  13. Yeah for sure, I always like shiny new objects, and I DO fall into the unfinished category as well...that's why I am trying to finish a GMC General that I have had almost 30 years ! Guilty as charged ! LOL.... it is good to see I'm not alone, but still there were some really cool potential builds, and yeah, maybe that is good suggestion David has.... might have to look at that with some seriousness...
  14. I totally agree , Mike, and that's what I do, it is just a shame that things happen that way, and we can't always show our talents to the end... these days life is way more complicated than ever and that makes leisure time a premium, and I sure get that............. so many kits and projects and not enough time.... and yeah, I get into a build, and have to check something on the computer, and easily get distracted, and then the day seems to be shot.... extremely easily done with everything out there..... ?
  15. Hi guys............ ok I will confess right off the bat, I am a long time lurker, and follow some builds very closely and the talent here is mind blowing....I look for ideas and inspiration, and I FIND it here.... I am now retired after 38 years of Highways maintenance operating heavy iron, tandem snow plows, gravel trucks with pups, loaders, etc and finished up as a grader operator trainer on the new Cat "M" series.... also did a fair bit of paving etc.... my love is obviously 'big trucks'.................. I dabble in building them , and now am trying to expand my horizons and step out of my comfort zone.... so that is why I sit in the bleachers and watch the builds as they take place. Now to my question or observation............. I took a little time the past couple days to go through the Big Rigs, WIP section of this site..... I went through 36 pages of works and will most definitely look at all the pages, however when going through the build pages, I saw a large number of builds started, and found them most interesting, and then part way along, they just....... end ... they stop with no conclusion or the rest of the WIP, and that is an " awe maaaannnn" , moment.... I know life gets in the way and we do other things and the dreaded SOD etc, but I was kind of saddened to see a large number of potentially awesome builds , that abruptly ended..... I am not complaining, it is just an observation... it would be so cool to see or hear how the builds did eventually finish up. The amount of information given out here is fantastic, and it seems a shame that for what ever reason, the builds just fizzle out. I know there are a million reasons for that, and I am guilty of it as well..... just an observation. This is such a good site with a plethora of info and ideas, and a great friendly bunch to chat with. I just wish I could observe some builds to fruition as they start out fantastically. Also, I am wondering, if there is a thread some where here ( no I didn't look, way easier to ask LOL ) regarding all aftermarket sites, just like a list to refer to in a flash. I see a lot of folks mention an aftermarket site during their builds, and when I see one I try to check it out and if it fits my needs, I book mark it for future works... I'm sure there is a list here somewhere.... anyway, once again, I'm not complaining or criticizing any builds or reasons for not finishing, it was just an observation.... thanks for a great site and ideas and the builds.... Jeff
  16. Not sure if it has been mentioned, but how about a 'horn ring' ? I liked them back in the day rather than pushing hard on the steering wheel pad.... Jeff
  17. This build is going to be epic !, Love what you are doing here Michael, and where I think it may be going.... this is like many logging trucks seen here in British Columbia, except for the 4th drop axle on the trailer, here in B.C. we are only allowed 3 axles as our roads would not be able to take the 'scrubbing' the 4th axle would put on the highways with our somewhat tight curves.... we are allowed to have 'Jeeps' for heavy haul on lowbeds as they are at the back of the trailer and can turn, lots of rules and regulations here in British Columbia..... I will be following your build with enthusiasm, and looking for better ideas than I have now... keep up the excellent work... looking forward to seeing more.. Cheers Jeff
  18. EXCELLENT !, and one of the first of this series built with the correct, black inner fenders and rad support, and green fire wall..... I have the same kit, just recently purchased, and am going to do my truck, which was originally my dad's bought new in Sept, 1968, the only difference is my 250 is Boxwood green over Wimbledon white, and is a 390, 4 speed. My truck is all original, and never seen snow, so no rust, oem glass, floor mats still have the little bumps and a perfect dash pad.... and never been hit !...... what paint did you use? And huge props for almost perfect paint on the hub caps... Beautiful stock build... Cheers Jeff
  19. I TRIED to post this from my phone and the 'security' stuff here is off the clock... wouldn't let me do it from my phone, so frustrating......... sssoooooo, here I am at the big computer.... I just sent Paul an email yesterday asking about a stock order he has coming from Auslowe, and it will be here soon, Paul is hard at it building the business, and is working hard to make a good product , so as I am not a Facebook guy, but the Mrs is, Paul has a Facbook page that you guys may be interested in checking out as he posts new products and status of products coming... it is Canadian 1/25 Scale Model truck Guild give that a go, and you can ask him questions, and failing that send him an email stsupply@yahoo.com he will answer very quickly.............. for the record, I have NO affiliation with ST Supply other than I am a good customer, and want to give a shout out to a good business, who has good products, and is friendly and has given me EXCELLENT service..... I hope this helps out a little bit.... ( he said he hopes to have the whole SU line up of products back up for sale as soon as he can get them made and in stock ) cheers Jeff
  20. Thanks, I was happy with the final result.... the steer tires and rims came from Jamie at Moluminum http://moluminum.com he shows them as sold out at the moment, but he regularly makes new ones, give him a quick email, I', sure he can sort you out, he also has other rims... I also use ST Supply from here in Canada, Paul is AWESOME to deal with and has LOTS of truck stock of all sorts... https://stsupplyco.com have a look at the sits and there may be something you find interesting... cheers, Jeff
  21. hi Tom, I just finished the same kit and I used a set of tires from Moluminum, and tossed on a set of steer floats for make her look a little more 'beefy'.... I think those tires you are looking at are like a summer style tread, and for my build I wanted a heavy duty truck tire like I am used to on our local gravel trucks and large wreckers....I also had a set of white metal rims, and I can't remember where I got them, but was looking for a different look, I also narrowed the wrecker body and substituted a Cat 3406 aftermarket engine for some spice.... Jeff
