Thanks Carl! I am pretty proud of it. God watch over you and yours in these weird times!

Happy Sunday, and got an update on this beauty.... Pretty much took me several (4+) hours to finish all the chrome, but I like the way that it turned out. I still think muffler tape is the way to go. Anyhoo, check it out and let me know what you think.

Roman, the only word I can think of is "real." That car looks like a real vehicle. Outstanding job!
-
Wow Roman! That is a great effort for a first model! I do see modeling perfection in your near future. Beautiful!
-
Hey Steve. Love it and excellent job! I used to own a '65 just like that and that color (not a racing car version, of course). Wish I still had it. It drove like it weighed 10 tons!
-
Outstanding! The whole build is clean, and really like the motor. Why are you not wearing gloves handling that beauty, Mister?!?!
-
The car is gorgeous! The color scheme is perfect. I mean, PERFECT!
-
Car, it's gorgeous! Love it! In fact, when I saw it, I was immediately reminded of the beginning of Heavy Metal (the movie).

Thanks Gareth. I realize I am light-years behind the talent around here (come on, I have seen your cars!) but Look Out! I'm catching up!

Greg, my regrets that HobbyLobby does not exist in the Great White North (oh great, now I'm singing the song in my head). I don't suppose that you could order it online and they would respect the coupon? Actually, you might have convinced me to buy it - since you reminded me of the 40 percent coupon! I'm the idiot that goes up every time and asks, "do you have a military discount?" and then my wife has to remind me about the coupon she just downloaded to my phone five minutes prior. Duh!!

Steven, okay now I understand the discussion completely. (I try to listen when adults speak, but....) I didn't realize that HobbyLobby did not exist in Canada. I did know about the border closures (or restrictions, at least). No, I did not realize that it was a Firebird versus a Trans Am. Honestly, I don't really care. At this stage, I just build to build. Accuracy be damned. Speaking of - that's why I stopped building 1/35 tanks. Got pretty good at it, but my eyes need bigger, brighter, subjects. But more importantly, the guys who were so particular about accuracy (known affectionately as "Rivet Counters") kind of overwhelm the forums and feedback. I don't mind negative feedback at all, but if I feel like installing a urinal in the dashboard, then I shall do just that.

Thanks David. My real truck isn't as well-waxed as this model is!
-
Well, I don't know about Greg, but if I go buy it, I have about a 5-mile drive to get it.
-
Greg, you are right on target! That is exactly where I saw it. And yes, with the 40% coupon, that's a pretty good price (what? $22-$23?) As far as covid, I'll take my chances. I have been in worse situations than this! I appreciate the input!

An update. I had some time, so I finished polishing the body in its entirety. Yeah, there are some blemishs, but overall, I am pretty pleased how it came out. Definitely an improvement over the orange peel that I usually have with a paint finish. I did take the paint down to the primer in some places, but delicate touching up will take care of that. Anyway, I appreciate any thoughts or comments. Criticism is also welcome (just remember; twenty years of the USN taught me to be very sensitive while developing a very thin skin).?

Johann, I love your interpretation of a gorgeous vehicle. You are right! Brown just looks right on it.

Geez, Johnny! That is horrible. (Man, this thread has really gotten pretty bleak, hasn't it?) -
Lowrider....now, I'm singing the song! I see it!

Steven, you bring up a good point! I know exactly what you mean about the neighbors in their yards, but I will confess....there is nothing more therapeutic than taking my brush-cutter out to my property, putting on a pair of mouse ears, firing that sucker up and just tearing the living heck out of Florida scrub! Just flat-out fun! -
Oh, wise ones...I come to ya'll with a question; I found the 1/16th MPC Trans Am available at a brick and mortar for $40. Is it worth it?
-
Larry, I have never seen that flash on the car's side before (at least not on a Monte Carlo). My dad was a used car dealer, and we went through some. Is that a special edition ("Fantasy Island" or "Falcon's Crest"?

Sorry to hear that Alan. Perhaps circumstances will change back. Lord only knows. Enjoy, stay safe and God watch over you and yours! -
